How to clean breville dual boiler
มุมมอง 9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I will go over how and what to clean after each use of the coffee machine. I like to clean the portafilter first. Knock out the coffee grinds, then use a cloth and running water. Take out the filter basket. You can use a spoon if you find it hard to take it out; it takes some practice taking it out with your hands, but it is much quicker. Using the cloth, rub the grooves of the f...

    Do you soak your portafilter in hot water and if you don't do you think that's necessary?

    • @laurencelee4012
      @laurencelee4012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, so it depends on how dirty the inner surface of the portafilter is; if you see the coffee stains have built up quite a bit (the inner surface is no longer shiny), then it will need a soak with preferably some espresso cleaner. This can be subjective. I rinse/clean my portafilter by removing the basket from the portafilter and wiping it with running water and a cloth. I rarely soak the portafilter as the inner surface is still shiny. If the portafilter does need a soak, make sure you don't soak the handle especially if it rubber as the hot water and cleaner may damage the handle. Hopefully this helps!

    If this were really necessary, it would put off anyone watching from buying this machine! I flush and wipe the milk wand immediately after steaming. Rinse the portafilter (without removing the basket) and I run some water through the group head for a few seconds. Wipe down any splashes and I’m done. The drip tray gets cleaned and emptied when it’s full. Cleaning the machine takes a fraction of the time it that it takes to make a cup of coffee, not longer!

    You don't need to do all this stuff especially backflow after every use that would be crazy. Cleaning the group head screen by running hot water for a few seconds, cleaning the wand and portafilter is more than adequate after every use .. plus the added wipe down. I'd consider a bottomless portafilter. At most backflush once a week with the correct cleaning tablet and maybe removing the group head screen to clean its backside assuming you're using your espresso machine quite a bit at least 4-5 double shots a day is plenty. Obviously wiping down, draining the tray, filling water, filters, descaling, etc is also necessary per the manual.

    Hey good video, I've owned the machine for two years now and I would recommend that you don't crank the portafilter so hard to the right when inserting it into the group head, you will wear out your group head gasket so quickly. You don't have to do this daily, but parts of it I'd recommend. Definitely don't have to wash the drop tray daily, there's a reason why it's so big. I also wash the portafilter daily but leave the basket in and run it under water, this method he shows is a but overkill. I so clean the entire portafilter and basket about once every two weeks with the way he does it, and occasionally with espresso cleaner.
