Welcome to Candy Shoppe Yarns!
My mission is to bring joy to the world with products that bring you back to your carefree and happy childhood days.
My name is Deborah, I am a lifelong maker, baker and beautiful things creator. I have dabbled, or sunk my teeth into just about every type of creative form there is from clay miniatures, paper crafts, sewing, digital art, handmade dolls and wedding cakes, to playful colorwork patterns for handknit socks. My desire is to create beauty and value in the world.
I love a good theme and draw inspiration from the early 1900’s and imagine my store as a candy shop along a seaside boardwalk amusement park in the 1920’s with the band organ playing lighthearted music on the carousel nearby and sounds of laughter ringing through the air .
Join me for videos about my yarns, my makes, and fun!

I love all the happy colors you work with! Watching you pick colors is just as fun as doing it myself! I wish I knit fingering weight socks. I usually knit dk or worsted as the smaller needles hurt my wrists. Do you think the Mountain Vista sock pattern would work with a 44 st sock? On my way to check out your other episodes! 😊
I just looked at my copy of the pattern and it looks like you can add in some plain knit stitches between the patterned stitches to adjust the stitch count if you are comfortable with adapting things that way. I would ask Emily, the designer, if she has any experience knitting them in DK.
All machine knit?
@@rosimom no, these were all hand knit, except for the unfinished green one I shared towards the end.
I just found your channel and love your socks. 💖
Welcome to the candy shoppe! I’m so glad you found me.
What a beautiful job you did!❤
Thank you! I am really enjoying using my new coat.
Fabulous socks, loved them all ❤
Thank you so much for watching!
Just found you … I’m in trouble love your colors
Oh, I know the feeling! 🎵 Boy you got trouble! Right here in River City. Trouble with a capital "T" And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool! 🎶
This video was so inspiring☺️ Deborah it’s always so much fun visiting with you❣️ I was thinking while I was watching I would love to see all your blankets. thank you for considering. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
I am so glad you enjoyed the video. Could you please clarify as to which kinds of blankets you are referring? I have only made two yarn blankets but I make quilts regularly. I hope you have a lovely weekend as well!
@ I would love to see all your blankets. I am starting my first quilt this year. I would love to hear any tips you have.
Socks are my go to project too. Isn’t it fascinating how many different variations you can create?
They really are so fun!
Hello just found your channel and I would use the bright colors together in a sock challenge. But my favorite project is not socks it really is making blankets or micro mini amigurumies ❤🎉
@@jenniferwysockey5276 blankets and micro mini amigurumi are on opposite sides of the project scale spectrum. How fun!!
I just knew you were a Castle Sista!!! NIce to find you here.
I’m glad you found me again!
Totally enjoyed this video! ❤
Thank you for watching, I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Your socks are lovely. My favorite combo was the pale colors although they all look like they will make great socks. I need to go through my scraps and knit myself some.
I think that was my favorite combo as well. Enjoy your scrappy knitting!
Your sock are so colorful
Fun colors are the best part of using scraps! 🌈🩷
You must weave in all the ends.?
Yes, that is one element of scrappy projects that deters some makers, though it doesn't bother me as I just weave them in as I go along rather than waiting until the end to be overwhelmed by so many.
Thank you for keeping me company Deborah. You socks are always inspiring, i would choose the bright pop of colour pack for sure. A palate that is lacking in my scraps.❤
How funny that you would say that because I look at the colors you chose and think how fun and colorful they are!
I am also in love with striped scrappy socks. I just love making them and thinking about them and wearing them. You are such a creative influencer for me.
Thank you! I love them too, and my feet get the best scraps.
This is so gorgeous, I loved the video and the coat turned out soo well! Of course now I want one of my own but goodness knows if I will ever be able to find a second hand quilt here in the UK! Wonderful work though, well done! ❤
Thank you Sandra. 🎀 I know that many people create patchwork panels to fit each pattern piece, rather than buy a quilt. I am planning to do that for another coat.
So cute.. love both the jacket and the sweat shirt
Thank you! My daughter and I are bit very happy with them as well.
You model your finished coat so beautifully 💗. It's always interesting to hear how other makers make their decisions. Your new coat is stunning, and I've never seen a Cotton On garment I liked this much! Thank you for the peek at your Christmas tree too - I noticed an adorable little sleigh and reindeer 🎄🦌😍
I am so glad you enjoyed the video. I’m with you, I love watching other videos about how people create something and most of the time I learn something new. Sometimes, however, I will watch and think to myself, “No! Don’t do that!”. I’m sure there are many doing exactly the same with this one.😊
@@candyshoppeyarns Certainly not! 😀😀 I agreed with all your reasoning 👍
Your coat is amazing! ❤
I’m so glad you like it! It’s definitely my favorite new piece.
That was just wonderful a beautiful jacket so talented
Thank you! It was hard to cut into this quilt, but worth it.
This is beautiful ❤. I love the even hand stitching.
Thank you for noticing! There was a lot, but I enjoyed doing it.
I can't wait to sit down and watch this!!
Adorable!! Your jacket turned out so cute! I love the pink fabric, so pretty. I love pastels and especially pink!! You did such a great job and it was fun to see it come to life. Have a wonderful day! Lonna
Thanks for your sweet comment! I love pink too! The finished coat gives off strong ‘80s vibes, which I also love.
Wow! This was so fun to watch your process, Deborah! Both items you’ve finished turned out stunning! I love them! You have definitely given new life to that quilt. You look absolutely AMAZING in the final pictures as well! 💓Thank you so much for sharing this!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm so glad you enjoyed watching the process. You are always an inspiration in using up all the little bits and creating something beautiful in the process.
Deborah, you are so talented! Love your jacket and sweatshirt.
I'm so glad you like them!
Deborah I love this new style of video! It’s so fun to watch your process and see the things that you come up with. I think your coat turned out so chic and lovely. I hope you have a wonderful new year with every good thing for you and your family.
I am so glad you enjoyed it! These process videos take so much longer to create so they won’t be as frequent, but I do enjoy watching and making them. Thanks for your support!
Gorgeous!!!
I appreciate your kind words!
Beautiful! 😍
Thank you so much! I hope this inspires you to repurpose something.
This coat is really cute - great job! Also, I love the sweatshirt. Thank you for sharing!
I’m glad you like it! I have already worn my coat numerous times, it’s very cosy and soft.
I made a raglan striped pullover. Simple stripes? Suvi knits? I know measuring down the back I knit 24”. Neck to bottom so I knit each color 1”. Worked out great.
That’s a great approach, especially if you are not fading the colors. I have more advents to use and will do that without blending one color into the next to make my life easier.
💜💜💜
Oh wow you've done a beautiful job!!
I appreciate the compliment! Thank you for watching.
Thanks for the podcast. Your sweater looks lovely. 😊
Thank you! 😊
Hi Deborah, I'm Carla ( new subscriber to your channel. Your sweater is just gorgeous. The colour's you've dyed for your advent are beautiful. Thank you for sharing 😊
Oh thank you! And thanks for subscribing. 🌟
Oh my goodness! What a pretty advent. ;0) I just love the sweater you made with it. You're so creative and I always love seeing what you're up to. I also love the opening of the video....high in fiber. lol Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!! Hugs, Lori
Thanks, Lori! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video!
Love, love it!!!!
Thank you!
My 13 year old daughter and I loved opening up your advent together each day. Of the five yarn advents I got this year, your's was my daughter's favorite. Originally I wanted to make her a sweater but since I've never knit a sweater and couldn't find the perfect pattern that told me how to use all the minis, I decided to make her a Cozy Comfort throw. (held with undyed yarn.) I am about 3/4 done, and it's just beautiful. I told her it can be her forever keepsake of our memories of opening the advent together. Your sweater is gorgeous!
That’s so sweet! I'm so glad you and your daughter enjoyed the advent and that it was a good experience together. It can definitely be a challenge to find a good pattern for an advent, which is why I decided to adapt one myself. I have been considering making the Radvent Cardigan all year and will probably use another advent to knit that.
"and high in fiber" had me cackling 😂 love it!
Glad to bring some joy to your day!
Soooooo CUTE! Such gorgeous colors ❤
Thanks, I am so happy with how they all came together!
Deborah this was such an amazing video✨ I loved the deep dive into your advent sweater. I appreciate all your tips and describing your process. I would love to see more videos just like this. Your videos are so inspiring. Happy new year, sweet friend.☺️
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I am thinking about doing more process videos in the future.
I wasn’t able to get one this year but a couple years back I made a cardigan by Stevan West WTH an advent and a heavier Suri in white. I love it. Love your Caliope too!
I’d love to know which cardigan of his you made. Was it the Bubble or the Penguino?
@ it was the garter marler cardigan, all garter stitch.
Sooo pretty , the bunny and box , you're very creative 🎉😊
Thanks so much for watching and your sweet comment. 💖
Love your advent fade! Are your notes all written in ravelry?
I have not added notes there. I am a fan of writing things down in a notebook by hand, though I’ve been terrible at even that the past year.
Thanks a lot for explaining your process on this sweater. It gives me inspiration. Currently I am knitting with my 2024 advent yarn. It's the Sweet Shop Blanket by Laura Penrose. I am also adding some yarn that I had in stash. Kind regards from Berlin in Germany, Almut
The Sweet Shop Blanket has definitely been tempting me! I always wonder if I have enough stamina to finish a knit blanket.
@@candyshoppeyarns Just take your time. You will always be looking forward to start a new colour. Blankets grow slowly and steady. I really love it.
Your jumper is so pretty. I really like the colours mix and the neckline is sitting lovely🙂
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind comment.
What a beautiful sweater from an amazing fiber artist and dyer. I have bought from Candy Shoppe yarns many times and am always beyond satisfied. Thank you for sharing this wonderful make. Didn’t purchase this years advent but would love to have. Next year for sure ….
Thank you for your kind support. I love to hear that you are happy with my products! Wishing you a beautiful day.
I really like my adventure. I am planning on making a Tunisian shawl with mine:)
Tunisian crochet is so interesting to watch. I love your project idea!
Love the advent sweater. You did a great job making the colors work. Bravo!
You are too kind! I am so relieved with how it worked out.
Your sweater is wonderful and your colors blended beautifully!👏👏👏
Thank you so much! I love how the colors turned out together, though I am still sad to have left out the last color.
