Good video, but there's one thing I strongly disagree with that comes up in every healing discussion, and that's healing per mana. I don't think it's meaningful. Effectively, there are two types of healing; "free" healing (+healing based) and mana-based healing. Your free healing is going to be the same no matter which rank you're using (for lvl20+ obviously), and you would never say no to free shit, so you will be casting as much as you can, all the time. That only leaves the innate difference between spells in their base healing and mana costs, and as a general rule (I haven't seen any exception), higher level heals are always more efficient than lower level ones. To illustrate, imagine we're debating whether to up-rank from HT5 to HT6 (4 is always better due to how cast speed talents work, so let's ignore that one). HpM is going to say HT5 (6.05 HPM @+1000) over HT 6 (5.43), but the only reason to even ask a question like that is because we've got mana to spare and we're wondering how best to use it. So it's not really a comparison between HT5 and HT6, but switching to HT6 or some other way of spending our excess mana, and HpM doesn't answer that. So let's compare going from HT5 --> HT6 spam to simply weaving in a HT11 here and there. First, we take the average healing of HT5 (633.5 + 100%bonus to healing), then we subtract the average healing of HT6 (818.5 + 100% bonus to healing). The bonus to healing cancels out. It is simply not a point of comparison, since we're getting that regardless. It makes no sense to be talking about total healing per mana instead of marginal change. The total measure is a comparison between doing something, and doing nothing at all. We are not debating whether we should cast heal or if we should go AFK. That's what the total measures. We are not going to be doing nothing, we're going to be casting regardless, so what we should be comparing is the heals that we would be casting, and the change between them. Anyway, we get a difference of 185 healing for a difference in mana spent of 65. We're getting 2.846 healing per additional mana spent going from HT5 to HT6. With rank 11, we get (2472.5-633.5)/(800-270) healing/mana. That works out to 1839/530=3.47 healing per additional mana spent. That's 22% more. The horrible 3.09 (total) healing per mana spell is spending mana more efficiently than the supposedly vastly superior 5.43 HpM spell. Going from HT1 --> HT2 is 1.866 healing per additional point of mana spent. HT10 --> HT11 gets you 5.15. Heals only get more and more efficient as they rank up. The only time HpM means anything is if you go out of mana spamming <lvl20 spells. That's it. If you're using >lvl 20 spells without going out of mana, it means nothing. Absolutely nothing. Now, this is not a huge difference, and even less if you take overhealing into account. So why kick up a fuss about it? Because it's FREE healing, and obsessing over meaningless numbers, which a lot of addons focus heavily on, will strongly encourage people to go fuck with the level 20 penalty. You do not fuck with the level 20 penalty. For example, renew. @+1000, rank 1, 2, 3 are 16.5, 13.46, 11.19 HpM. Rank 1 and 2 look efficient, but once we compare them to each other, it's a totally different story. Going from renew 1 --> 2 is 10.86 HpM. 2 --> 3 is 7.5. And then it stops, and we never see any other way of spending mana that is even remotely close in terms of efficiency. 3 --> 4 is 2.0. 9 --> 10 is 2.46, and that's as good as it gets. Looking at HpM makes casting a rank 1 renew look clever, efficient, while you're throwing 380 additional healing out the window for 35 mana. That's not clever. That's not efficient. That's fucking retarded. It's a horrible measure. Absolutely useless, and terribly misleading. What you should be looking at is free shit per second. And that's where HoTs are king, sporting 80% to 120% FREE SHIT per GCD, while even the best cast-speed talented heals only manage to get 100% in 3 seconds. That's 60 to 140% more free shit. Goddamn. So the ideal for overall efficiency, would be to use the lowest level heals you possibly can without eating the downrank penalty and then blowing any excess mana with the biggest heals you've got.

I noticed this back in 2005 when my friend on his orc warrior would barely need to eat food and I was eating constantly, even on my orc rogue his health regen was significantly higher.
