Unseen Luxury: Party at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild
มุมมอง 5921 วันที่ผ่านมา
One of my favorite parties I've ever been to in the South of France is the thrown inside the iconic pink mansion, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. This is a sneak peak at their summer garden party, which was truly iconic. The evening began by watching sunset along the French Riveria, then a tour of the villa, which is a museum with lots of things from a time gone by, all b...

A Day in İstanbul: Taksim Square to Galata Tower

Spend the day with me exploring the Beyoğlu neighborhood on the European side of Istanbul. It's a great area to stay if you want to be near Galata Tower, bars, antiques shops, and lots of rooftop eateries with Bosphorus views. First we'll walk around Taksim Square, and even catch one of the calls for prayer. If this is your first time hearing about this area, basically, it's considered the hear...

    As much hype as the Mona Lisa at the Louvre. But if you are an Archaeologist that will be the Mona Lisa for that field. You like theater, do you like art?

    • @allytravels
      @allytravels หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s right, I’m a total theater addict. I do have a great appreciation for art, as well as history, and love getting lost in museums, though I’ll admit I’m not expert yet. I love that you compared it to the Mona Lisa. I found it similar in that there was so much chaos around it in the museum that it made really getting to calmly look at the details to appreciate it tough - just like the big crowds of the Mona Lisa room at the Louvre. Though I do appreciate that it’s easier to get closer to the Rosetta Stone than it is to really get up close to the detailing of Mona Lisa. In both experiences, I felt so lucky getting to see them in real life, but in both instances, it felt overshadowed by the chaos of crowds pushing forward (in the stones case, that included being hit twice by strollers in the process), wanting to get a glimpse. I think that’s why in the end, I felt more of an emotional connection with other less popular displays at both museums. How did you feel in those instances?

    What an awful touristy cliché. "Done" the British Museum... There's a LOT more to the British Museum than just the Rosetta Stone! It's a fantastic place! Though it helps to have a curious mind, rather than just being a brain-dead tourist, ticking off an item on their 'to do' list... It would take at least a couple of full days to see everthing the museum has to offer and I know that most visitors aren't going to have the time or desire to spend that amount of time there but at least approach it with more of an open mind and positive attitude than this airhead did. If you do, you'll get a lot out of it. :)

    • @allytravels
      @allytravels หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting opinion, I do agree the museum has a lot to offer, however, the museum was far too crowded to be enjoyable, it’s as easy as that. There are far better museums in London that aren’t as chaotic and equally, if not more interesting, in my humble opinion. It seems you’re making snap judgements and cliche statements about tourists, instead of considering you’ve seen limited clips of an entire day spent there. Clearly, you have issues of your own if you prefer to use your time to put others down instead of treating everyone with kindness or even elaborating on what you enjoyed about the museum so that this could’ve been a learning experience for others (assuming you’ve been there) - I’m sure you’ll find this to be another “awful cliché”, but if you try kindness, instead of negativity, you’ll get a lot out of it :)

      The best part is it’s a random dog who came to say hello - he was such a sweetie!

    I wish you would have been a bit more descriptive. You didn’t say which train or how many stops there are or ending points. I’m arriving in Nice in May and I still am not sure if I want to take the train or just get a taxi.

      Hi Cynthia, I’m sorry you didn’t find it overly helpful. It was meant to be a quick overview, and I’ll have an article up soon outlining things further on my website. Happy to let you know when it’s up. Honestly, I’d first find out on a map or from your hotel what the closest train stop is to your accommodation and go from there. In fact, that’s part of the reason I didn’t list the number of stops, since it’ll likely be different for everyone depending on where they’re heading. The train is certainly cheaper, but if you’re jet lagged and then lugging your bags for ages from the station, then an Uber is well worth it. You also asked which train, the good news is there’s only one train at the airport. So it’s pretty hard to get the wrong one unless you hop on the train that says it’s going to the other terminal, in which case you just get an extra stop or two in around the airport 😊

      @@allytravels lol you know how nervous travelers can get! I’m thinking Uber may be the way to go. Good luck with your future videos!

      Thanks so much, and I totally understand the nervous traveler wanting to know more. Uber is a great choice! Def less stressful and it’s a quick drive. Just a heads up, the Uber meeting point is in the downstairs parking lot area. It was a bit confusing the first time I got one but the good news is you can see their location in the map 😊

      @@anniec6420hey Annie - I always wait until after I’m through passport control and have all my bags before calling for one. I get way too stressed scheduling them ahead of time just in case of delays. Normally they’re pretty quick to arrive, and I always use them or another ride app called Bolt (I’d check both to compare prices and availability) over any local cabs that may hang around.
