That’s the 1st primus cylinder I’ve ever seen picked, I can bump them with no issue as long as I have the correct blank, you sir are a stud. I’ll be trying this on Monday when i get to the shop.

I have three of these, all without keys. Two are KIKs and one is an LFIC. Both of the KIKs are very dirty but the LFIC isn't to bad. Have you ever picked the LFIC version? I would really like to get all 3 of them picked so I can gut them to give em a thorough cleaning. I don't think I have that pick you called a finger pick. I do have the LAB brand set of picks that has one for manipulating Medeco pins. Im fairly precise with half Diamonds. If I had to I can take a 0.020" feeler gauge and turn it into on of those finger picks. I've just made so much stuff that it gets old sitting down for hours with the Dremel. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to think if my bosses Key Duplicator could cut a Primus blank. I'd love to change out my Schlage entry deadbolt with one of the Primus KIKs

I just witnessed somebody beating the UL listing. UL 437 rating is, can't be picked In a 10 minute window with normal tools. I'd send this video to UL, and let Medeco get their rating rejected. Serves then right...

I worked with Kaba Japan (Nihon Kaba KK) before, I didn't know they have this reduced kaba star just as JN (which is just four rows, while a typical Kaba star, for the EURO market, is five rows)... it is reduced to the capacity of those with three rows(like kaba Ace)

This is why I just got a primus cylinder. as long as it can't be bumped I'm happy... a skilled picker will get through almost any lock in a minute. My deadbolt has an ice pick shield and the plate is well mounted...

Thanks for posting this video. I recently bought an S&G 8088 which was SUPPOSEDLY unused new-old-stock, with the instructions and the changing key. The default combination does not work, so someone at some point had to have changed the combo and stuck it back in the box (perhaps even the seller himself, for all I know... 🤬) This video gives me some hope that I will be able to actually open the lock and change the combo to make it a useable lock again. I hope you still plan to make a more detailed video on the rig you built and more tips on how to manipulate these old S&G 8088s. Thanks again!

Agree. Awesome for key control, it would require an x-ray image to “see” that biting, and there would be overlap if not at the right angle, not very impressionable, and good luck filing. Reminds me of the Australian “BiLock,” but with shrouded key bitting.

When you say that you can brick the lock by dropping the gin driver tips into the counter milling, do you mean this can happen while gutting the lock?

Seems like they could improve pick resistance if they could somehow block the sidebar ends of the levers against picking; maybe design the core with two slots so that flat pieces of metal could be inserted from the sides to cover the part of the lever not manipulated by the key? This would prevent your technique of picking from only a single side, meaning you'd need to somehow tension in the middle, or tension both sides temporarily while swapping over? That ought to make the lock substantially harder to pick I think. Anyway, thanks so much for posting this video! Found about these locks from BosnianBill's video but he was reviewing the padlock version, and the core for that doesn't have a clip so he couldn't disassemble it (or at least, didn't want to risk destroying it in the attempt, since he was giving it away in a contest). Good to be able to see closely inside.

They switched to more pins over 35 years ago. It took quite a while to pick 4 pins.
