    Don't heat amber on a wax pot it is too hot for the stone. To polish, use a pair of old jeans on your thigh and gently rub the stone back and forth. The friction will polish the stone, if it does not come up shiny put a dab of toothpaste on the jeans.

  • @jamesmartz4755
    @jamesmartz4755 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It's definitely melting on you, I have the same thing happen when I try finishing the polish with a buffing wheel. Try shaping it (very slowly, allowing it to cool) with the wheel, then hand polish with sandpaper to at least 1000 grit, and finish with titanium dioxide (or white toothpaste) on a piece of denim. The black stuff is coal, so try not to breath it in - there's also sand and volcanic dust trapped in some of them, which can make getting a perfect polish difficult... and of course, the fractures. Even taking things slow, Indonesian amber tends to get a gummy layer that takes away from the shine... I haven't quite got it figured out, but it eventually stops forming if you clean it enough and coat it with a thin layer of oil.

    Thanks for the nice video, content, and information! 🙏 A tip that might help you going forward to help you work smarter, not harder with your hammer: hold the hammer at the bottom of the handle. This will create more force on impact with the chisel. This is why hammers have long handles. They're not meant to be held up by the head. I hope this helps you get more bang for your buck! 😅
