Mid Hant Railway Spring Steam Gala

Here is the Mid Hant Railway Spring Steam Gala, a nice opportunity for me to film the last runs I'd be able to see of LMS Jubilee No. 45690 'Leander', a locomotive I hadnt really seen much of. First time was a surprise in a convoy, the second in pitch black at Preston, the third was finally seeing it on a railtour down here, and last and most recent this.
The lineup for this gala was rather nice, Leander of course was the main reason, managed to recreate the same location I got the last Jubilee to visit MHR, Bahamas (another old video on the channel). Manston is lovely to see as always, looking even nicer adorned with the square headboard. 41312 sounds incredible as always too. No. 29 is a loco I didn't realise I hadn't seen for a while, potentially Didcot was the last time, feel free to look back at old videos to confirm! The loco failed the previous day so I wasn't expecting to see it working but to my surprise, I saw Kilmersdon towing it out and later, a surprise appeared on the back of 41312 train in the form of a fixed Lambton! Made a nice departure with the 20 on the rear as assurance.

11/4/24 The reason for this outing was for me to finally see the BR Blue liveried Class 455 painted by Bournemouth MPD, and they have definitely done a good job of it, looks lovely! As well as this, it was a bit of locomotives galore, Class 37, 60, 66s, 70 and more.. Also saw a 166 through Reading nonstop, a rare sight, fresh from Wolverton Works I believe.

12/5/24 Following off the Swanage Railway Diesel, the diesel locomotives that had reached the gala via the BLS railtour left again via the railtour, seen here arriving and departing Basingstoke. Locomotives being Class 33 012 (would later return to Swanage), 73 109 (attached in the first place due to ETH troubles with the Crompton) and 69002 at the rear.

'Scaldwell' is a Peckett used at the 3 feet gauge line at Lamport Quarries in Northamptonshire. I wondered where she had gone!

@@kingorry7223 there are number of hacks shown on TH-cam on how to cheaply reduce wind noise, otherwise Amazon sells wind reducing add ons for a price.

I heard Brittania passing through my town outside my house on its way to Robertsbridge yesterday morning while I was still waking up. Didn’t know it was Britannia until I looked it up though. And I was gutted I didn’t know because if I did, I absolutely would’ve gone to see it passing. Love the 7MTs.
I must admit, I never actually saw that many images of it coming down from Southall, so I too was surprised to not hear about it 😅 I knew it had to for the gala, but it went under the radar for me

The blue and grey unit has been preserved, and is in operation at Eastleigh Works. She will be the only surviving unit left, so visit Eastleigh Works if you want to see her in action.
That is 313 201, a similar looking unit, also blue, I have seen that one running and seen it in Eastleigh Works. However 507 001 is indeed to be preserved, at the Tanat Valley Railway
Its still in GBRf Livery but the logo has been replaced to colas once again, saw it yesterday at Westbury in the sidings next to platform 3

Woodland scenes are for hikers, not steam engine enthusiasts. I don't do looking at scenery when steamies are running. I only look at scenery if a stinky diesel forces me to do so.
What do you look at when your on the svr then-? ballast ? Trees hedges and hills are woodland scenery Kelly - don’t jump too conclusions about things you don’t understand

Only the model steamies were of interest to me. Ought to have stuck to them. The battery-powered diesels do nothing to entice me. Haven't those guys heard of steam power? Far better than a lack of all things smoke, steam and soot, any day.
Dude just because it’s a railway doesn’t mean it has to be steam. Powered - and just because they don’t entice you - doesn’t mean they won’t entice others 👍
