How can i get involved ❤
You can start now by sewing the beginner friendly dress I just made a tutorial for, or join on in on September 1 when I’ll be kicking off the Project for 2025 😁
Ty ill check out the video and start soon 💕🧵
Mari, if I want to add the ruffle do I subtract approximately 9" from the main body? Thanks
Yes, and use that as part of the ruffle.
I have no excuse to leave my seams unfinished after your easy tutorials; other than my laziness. Thanks, Mari.
😂 we’ve all been there
How do you find the girls in poverty to give the dresses to? Where exactly are they going?
Please watch any of the kickoff or donation videos.
The chart on your video shows 44” wide for all the dresses but the chart in the link are different widths. Which one should I be using?
Either is fine. The original chart is no longer available so the I linked to the closest that I could find that would provide the same dress.
Ok thank you!
I should also note that I recently did a new beginner friendly dress that is pretty similar but with a chart that I’ve updated. I’ll pop in the link.
Here’s an updated tutorial video with a good chart that I created for a similar dress. Beginner-Friendly Sundress Tutorial #ProjectDressAGirl2025 th-cam.com/video/9qJJhU-yjNg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much!
Thanks, because I still get confused about this
What fabric is good for linning?
For PDAG dresses I’d recommend thin cottons or cotton blends. For other garments you can add rayon (bemberg), silk or poly to the mix.
Great video Mari!! Beautiful machine covers!!! ❤. I am not much of a crafter and truly appreciate when instruction (along with tips!) are given for sewing room necessities like this! Thank you so much!! 🤗😘
Wow those covers look amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Very nice & enjoyable … FIESTA 🧵🪡
Thank you
@ You’re welcome 🪡 🧵
Thank you for sharing this video on how to make a cover for your sewing machines. Love how you styled your hair. Of course, you always look beautiful.
Thanks 😊
I like how the leather stands up and holds the shape.
Thanks! It definitely makes it easier when you don’t have to pad it to stand up
As a beginner I found pinning to be invaluable and I am not afraid to pin more over less
For many years my garments looked like pincushions as I made them because I used every pin I had. It’s definitely a sure way to make sure your fabric doesn’t slip. I don’t use as many now, but sometimes I regret it!
Never a fail! Just a learning experience!❤
So true!
With a hook and a loop at the top works perfectly
Yes, I don’t know why that never crossed my mind. Such a miss! I’ve got to make another pair
Great video but too many ads every 10 seconds
Thanks. Great tutorial. AND you are so pretty !!!
Mari I need to buy labels. Please let me know how I can order from you.
Here’s the link. Scroll all the way down for the large sized labels. inspiredleatherco.com/collections/pincushions/sewing
Such great tutorials. I never do these because I'm too impatient and have a serger. But man, they look so professional. xoxox
I prefer to use my serger as well but I think I’ll give Hong Kong binding a go on a jacket this year
Nicely done Mari! ❤❤❤
Thank you Myra
Thank you. very helpful.
You’re welcome.
You’re amazing. Thank you. ❤❤❤❤
Just ordered 100 labels. Getting ready for 2025!! 1 dress made so far ❤😊
@kristicitak3932 99 to go! I’ll get the out on Friday since USPS is closed tomorrow
@ you’re such a peach. Thank you 🙏
Hi Mari! This was great!❤❤❤
Thank you. There’s so many beginners out there that think French seams are the only way to go
Mari, thanks for showing these seam finishes. I got together with my fabric friends yesterday to review the French seam. I told them bias binding was a great option too. I like the sandwich view. I also don’t want to be held hostage by my serger. Good to know more than one way how to do thing. Our group is starting PDAG early and I will forward this very informative video to the group. You are much appreciated 😊
Thank you so much!!! I love sharing these techniques. Can’t wait to see what the group does.
Thanks for showing all these seams. I’m one who doesn’t have a serger. I do have a device from Brother called a side cutter. Now I will admit it isn’t good for knits at all. It’s great on most of my wovens. It is a presser foot that attaches to my sewing machine like any other presser foot. What it basically is an overcast foot with a blade. It finishes the seam and cuts off the excess fabric just like a serger. You can choose a zigzag or any stitch that overcast foot does. Some of my slippery fabrics I usually have to starch and let dry. There are very few fabrics that won’t cooperate but I have no problem with a zigzag and pinking shears. Not as fast as a serger but goes as fast as you push foot pedal. I paid less than $60.00 for mine. On Amazon The Brother Sa177.
I'm glad you mentioned this! I've been looking at purchasing and wondering if it was worth the $
@ I just can’t find anyplace that sells just the Lutterloh measuring tape. They want you to buy a whole tool kit. I found one place but they wanted $35.00 for it. No way!
I'm grateful to have had a mother who sewed. She taught me all these methods, as well as French seams and flat-felled seams. We shared the sewing machine for many years!🤣
That's awesome! The best kind of memories.
I am glad you included your settings for the stitches. Great tips.
You bet! I think having the right stitch settings helps to make a huge difference.
So many great tips! Thanks so much!
I'm so glad you found them helpful!
😅
😅
I love the white one and I love the design. Choosing the right fabric is key.
Fabric definitely can make or break the whole look
Here is a hint for knowing which side of the fabric is the front side. Sometimes it is obvious, but often I can't tell once the pattern pieces are cut. I place a piece of masking tape or scotch tape on the right side of each pattern piece. Remember to remove these pieces before ironing to avoid the glue from permanently sticking. This is important!
Good tip! When I remember to it, I use the chalk and put a marking on the front. Either one of those would’ve helped big time. What a guessing game

On my Dress A Girl projects I use a French seam finish.
That’s a great finish too
@@MariSewsyou should do a quick video on French seams! 😊
Thanks for the great great tips
You’re welcome!

My pleasure! Glad you found them helpful.
