Are Rod Tubes Free? | Our Rod Tube Manifesto

WHY WE SELL OUR RODS WITHOUT A ROD TUBE In most cases the cost of the tube was adding $40-80 to the final retail price of a fly rod, which we felt was a meaningful enough difference to do something about it. By separating the rod tube from the total price of a rod, we have been able to price our rods to reflect what we’ve put into the rod itself, and not much else. ROD TUBE MANIFESTO flyproject...

    • @flyprojectusa
      @flyprojectusa 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I generally run a 240 Scandi in the summer with soft hackles, but in the fall, the 270 helps with pushing bigger flies when I still want to fish the Scandi. In the late fall and winter, I often fish 10-12' tips and I like the 270/275 for Skagit. 300 will work if you want a deeper slower load, but we often have lots of wind and I like to be able to fire a quicker cast. - Fred

    Let me give you some marketing advice! I purchased two custom fly rods ($ 1500.00) The mfg shipped one in a pvc pipe the other taped to it. The mfg has tubes for sale on his site for $ 25.00? It’s not rocket surgery! Add $ 40.00 to your price! You will NOT lose a sale @ $ 350.00 vs $ 300.00

    • @flyprojectusa
      @flyprojectusa 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The majority of the market does include a tube. The price of that rod tube is factored into the final price of the rod. We want to offer our customers the option of opting out of a fly rod tube if they want to save anywhere from $40-$80 if they do not want to pay for it. You can buy one with your fly rod or you don't have to. The point is we want our customer to be able to choose and know what they are paying for.
