Rannerdale Knotts, Crummock Water (The Lake District)
GPX Download Of Route...
drive.google.com/file/d/11keXCiOnq6zgG5IqvAsWRkNc0d9lMlY-/view?usp=drivesdk
Rannerdale Knotts rising from the Buttermere valley, is one of the smaller Cumbrian hills and is overlooked by a number of surrounding fells, such as Grasmoor, Whiteless Pike and, across Crummock Water, Mellbreak and the High Stile ridge.
Rannerdale Knotts is said to be the site of a battle between the native Cumbrians and Norsemen and the invading Normans in the late 11th or early 12th century.
Crag Hill sends out a subsidiary ridge to the south west, stepping down over Wandope and Whiteless Pike toward Buttermere village. Just above the village this ridge then turns sharply north west and rises to the summit of Rannerdale Knotts.
The sharp angle in the ridge is marked by a depression at 950 ft (290 m), beyond which the ground climbs slowly for around a mile toward the top. This section of the fell is named Low Bank on Ordnance Survey maps and is clad primarily in bracken. The final section bears a series of rocky knolls, still rising slowly north westward.
A tumbling descent of crag and scree then follows as the end of the ridge drops steeply to the valley floor, halfway along the shore of Crummock Water.
Rannerdale farm lies below this terminal face.
The south western side of Rannerdale Knotts is bounded first by Mill Beck, running through Buttermere village, and then by Crummock Water.
The north eastern flank falls to Squat Beck, a feeder of Rannerdale Beck. High Rannerdale lies within the angle of the ridge between Whiteless Pike and Rannerdale Knotts, Rannerdale proper being a triangular patch of pasture constrained by Rannerdale Knotts, Grasmoor and Crummock Water.

We very much enjoyed watching this video on our TV. Really brought out the image quality. In fact we were wondering what camera you used on this video?? Looking forward to watching more.
Hi Andy, Looks like a great one for the shorter days. I'm hoping to get this done soon as I've not been down to Allcock Tarn. All the best out there mate😃
What a great walk. It is now on my list as it is doable for us "oldens" and as we can shin up Binsey I guess Rannerdale is within our scope. Glorious views. You got a good day! Thank you
Hi Andy & Billy the wonder dog. What a super little video. Great drone footage too. Billy so suits these autumn colours. Some of these little fells have amazing views. Which one is best is a matter of opinion. My personal favourite is Low Fell south top (Loweswater Fell). It's a close call. Rannerdale Knotts, Hallin Fell, Castle Crag. To name a few. Do you have a favourite little Fell Andy. Perhaps you can ask for a vote. Thanks for sharing. Ta-raa for now. Say hello to Tracey. :PS Andy, has Tracey been giving you lessons on fungi? Ha!
Brilliant andy this is one ive always fancied doing but waiting for the good weather to enjoy it and sit around up here and soak it in even crack a few beers eh for all everytime ive passed ive never seen a available parking opertunity 😂 but i will get it soon enough good stuff once again at the info around the route another nice beck to walk back along too nice one marra
Andy and Billy, your videos makes the world feel a better place.
Stunning video as always. Stunning photography as always and Billy, when he jumped the fence put a smile on my face.
Cracking little 3 miler that Andy and those views!! I underestimated the walk up thinking from a distance it looked nothing but it were quite a steep little beggar when you actually get to it. Cheers Andy and Billy ATB
Well done Dave O. ! After seeing quite a few of his vids I wont be tempted to be doing them any time soon lol. Those group pics on the tops were definately a Auf Wiedersehen moment haha. Obviously you lot were much better looking 😂 Top video Andy of a grand day out ATB

Great video Andrew, was up there on last day of August, it was very warm and I headed over to the waterfall below Whiteless Pike too, no path but worth a visit. Numerous camper vans and paddleboarders blocking the road unfortunately, hopefully quieter now it's heading towards winter. Keep those lakeland videos coming.

Thanks Andrew much appreciated mate 😊 🙏🏻 ⭐
Hi Andy and Billy. Lovely autumn colours there mate. Such a cracking little hill that one. Done that one a couple of years ago on our lads winter walking weekend. We stay in Borrowdale YHA, and on the first day we get there, we usually do a little 4-5 mile walk to get us limbered up for the rest of the week. Great views all around from the top there and that cave is fascinating. Can't keep up with these videos, wish I had a job like yours!! We're up there a week on Saturday, can't wait. Cheers, Ozzy.
Lol cheers Ozzy aye lad it's not bad only working 3.5 days a week...although some folk don't think I work at all 🤣🤣 Ya gotta keep busy Marra 😊 Thanks as always for watching very much appreciated 😁 Tek care stay safe ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
Hi Andy and Billy and Tracy's sister. Lovely colourful route in the autumn. Been up through there on the way to Watenlath. Ace drone footage which gives it a fabulous perspective. Cheers, Ozzy.

It's a lovely la'al wander always lots to do and see down Borrowdale... It might not be tge highest hill to climb in The Lakes, but what it lacks in height, it makes up for wiith the location & the views from the summit Andy 😊great drone footage as per, the life that guy lead wws probably nit for everyone, but fair play to the guy for where he wanted to live & was blessed with terrific views & mpre importantly, peace & quiet, priceless, bloody priceless 😊😊😊regards to you,Tracey & of course Billy Bob alias The Rockstar 🐶🐕❤🎉
Thanks as always David there's always something to see and do down Borrowdale (beautiful in autumn or a rainy day) That other cave I pointed out on High Spy is very intresting but a la'al bit more tricky to find...so watch this space 😁 Have a great week my friend ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
@RockStar67 yeah Borrowdale is very picturesque Andy, will await your upcoming vlog on the cave 🙂👍
Brilliant walk that from start to finish Andy. We did it years ago in decent weather and loved every minute. The views over to Derwentwater are stunning and with Surprise view close by and Ashness Bridge to take in on route a fabulous days walk was had by all. Good to see you got your Drone repaired and up up and away Andy. The footage just keeps going up a level👌Cheers Andy and Billy ATB
