Don't worry, my dogs are pretty well adjusted and if they are sleeping would snap at another dog if they were climbing on them. She's just saying bugger off Im sleeping lol. If she's good with them tge rest of the time, I wouldn't worry, although sometimes a rescue will get possessive of you abd want you to themselves.

Sometimes its better to use a crate for the car ride and afterwards. She needs a safe space to go and come out in her own time. We crated ours in our room, that way she felt secure, she couldn't destroy anything. We also put a big blanket over top, making a cozy den.

Looks a fab route Ruth! Brecon is one of our favourite places to walk. Any chance you could share the GPX file of the route? We’d love to do it one weekend. Kind regards, Trudy 🥾

im loving you little videos hunny if you near the south west england way and you want to walk with me and inka your most welcome to join us xx my girls obcessed with the car and i believe she thinks shes a cat she respects them xx she adores our cat but if we are out and a cat runs she thinks its a game xx our biggest challage we had with inka which took the longest as i did not want to flood her she is very car protective especially with my daughters in the car and shes hayes men i thonk its the way she was trapped in romaina if inka sees one of my daughters cuddle her boyfriend and shes starts giggling inka thinks somethings wrong and barks ive found when we have male friends that inka dont know visits i just tell them to sit down and let her come to then so shes not flooded or wants to get away and when shes happy she gives her paw like your girl and pulls you hand to tickle her tummy xx the last year ive seen a huge change on her xx she hand on heart is the best dog ove ever owned xx

your baby girl is gorgous xx i adopted my romanian rescue inka 6 and a half years ago its her birthday today shes 7 years old . like your girlie it take time but the rewards are so worth it xx

Thank you for sharing your experience in this series. I found it useful and touching and very inspiring. I'm getting ready to adopt (from Romania..because I live here 😀) soon-ish. I've been watching a lot of videos and I'm so happy I stumbled upon your series because it underlined how no matter how much you prepare and try, something will happen that you didn't foresee and at the end of the day you just need to be patient, loving, caring and not give up. I hope I'll be as patient and loving to my future doggy rabbit as you and your partner.

I have a Romanian rescue and she's sick when I take her in the car due to stress bless her. My suggestion is to feed yours high value treats in the car without the engine switched on. After she's ok with that, try with the engine on but not driving anywhere. Desensitization takes a lot of time and patience. We've had the same problems with lack of playing with toys. I've got a lotus toy with food hidden inside velcro flaps that I throw to her and she's slowly learning. She loves hunting for smells and food though.

Our family is just embarking (No pun intended!) on the journey that you have had ...... we are very nervous about the fact that the first meeting will be on our doorstep !! What if she doesnt like us ? what has her journey been like ? how do we de-stress her and settle her into a new life ? these are all things that keep bouncing around my head. I know this is not going to be a fairy tale walk in the park but I`m 100% sure we can offer her a better life. I am recently retired so I can spend unlimited time with her and hopefully this will help with settling her in. Part of me wants to know how her journey was but then the other half thinks lets just see where we are when she arrives and pick up the pieces and move on. Wish us luck xxx

I recently adopted from Pawprints to freedom. This would be our third dog and our fifth pet . I saw this video before I did and it immediately raised red flags . It was also not like any other rescue that we have interacted with where you actually speak to someone who has relevant information about the dog . They seem to mostly send pictures with not much info of relevance like any guarding instincts at the kennels, play style information, level of nervousness towards strangers, tendency to escape etc . We are a four pet household with two cats and we also have dog walkers coming in to pick our dogs when we are away once a week for adventure walks . We also need to plan if we need to change our usual walks in a busy area which means a complete change in our schedules as we both work full time and I myself am away for 12 hours plus a day! I was told they couldn’t give ‘information in that much detail’ but that their match reviewer said they were a good match ! And that they had no other way of answering these questions. We weren’t feeling it but since this was after investing a lot of time with these people who initially suggested a different dog and then saying they apparently weren’t a good match! We decided to respect their time and effort. I was also keen to rescue one from Romania after reading about the situation there . Just trying to get these relevant information made them respond in a way as if we were being cumbersome. Perhaps their usual adopters don’t think of asking things like this ? Now that she is here the first thing we nocticed was that she had a lump the size of an orange on one side and multiple ones in the other . She isn’t as playful as in the videos - unsurprisingly because the assessment videos were from almost a year ago and we didn’t get any more recent info despite asking multiple times . Apparently no one had picked it up. They said they would look in to it but I never heard what happened . They did pay for her initial blood tests and then said they will have to start a fundraiser or set up a payment scheme with the practice whilst we were told it could be anything from infection to concern and we are here worrying about our little darling and how each passing day might be the difference between fine and not fine if it was cancer. . When I did raise issues about there being lacknofnproper assessment and communication where we are getting completely opposite information about the same dog from their ‘match reviewer’ and their online advert and general lack of people not knowing what is going on. Which is different in other rescues where they actually do an up to date evaluation and make sure it’s a good match. I was told by a manager ‘ then why did you adopt if you thought the information wasn’t enough info.’ Absolutely horrid ! Definitely not going to recommend them to anyone and definitely not going to support them in any way going forward . I would never make this mistake again and would always ask and insist for up to date info that be considerate about volunteers .

Ruth, I’ve only just found your videos about your Romanian rescue dog. You and Rob are doing such an amazing job with her and she is so lucky to have found you both. You have un-traumatised her so well and she has responded fantastically well to your loving care for her. She is an absolute sweetheart. We took on a rescue 2 years ago. Not from Romania but owner gave him up because she got depressed and couldn’t cope with his boisterousness and attention seeking behaviour, which she had done nothing about. He was 11, a mastiff/greyhound cross (a large dog) called Digby and was traumatised as he had suddenly found himself without the owner he’d known for 8 years. He still has boisterous moments but is much less so and responds well to learning new things (yes you can teach an old dog new tricks). At 13, he is amazing for his age and plays fetch with a ball daily on his walks. People who take on rescue dogs (rather than buying a pure bred puppy) are the best. Love from Tina from Bristol.

Good for you picking the litter up. I tab in the Brecons and other mountains and climb and just get so upset at the litter. I get to Cwm Gwdi a couple of times a month so appreciate folk like you.

The best walks are often impulsive Ruth as well know. Awesome to see snow on the top. I was in Brecon yesterday and could only just make out the fan - no snow but great to see. Glad yhou had a good time with few people around not that were anti-social. Mark
