GOLF AND MTB is Lyfe!
Is DJI Neo drone good for mountain biking?!? Follow mode at Black Mountain with Orbea Rise eMTB.
Took the DJI Neo up to Black Widow trail today. Due to its light weight design, there are certainly limitations such as lack of obstacle avoidance and max follow speed around 13mph.
First run started off with medium distance and flat height but it quickly lost me around sharp turn with bushes. Then I switched to close distance and flat height which was decent.
Second run we did close distance with high height setting, I believe this is probably the best mode for mountain biking, but that may change depending on the trail/terrain. The DJI Fly app also allows for manual control/setting of the distance/height if desired.
All in all, it was fun to try out but it was a little distracting and I couldn't go full send with it so probably good for a fun/relaxing ride with friends. It also makes the trail look flat and riding speed appears slow 😅
Battery life is actually pretty decent. I will definitely try it out on other trails!! The best part is that it's so small it literally fits in your pocket and can put another 2 batteries in another! My phone is way heavier!
All audio from this video are from GoPro.
Ran into a couple of nice hikers :) Happy riding and safety first!!!

The new Orbea Rise looks amazing and now has 85Nm! Which got me thinking.... Why not? New Orbea Rise only has 420Wh and can handle the 85Nm so I decided to take the plunge! So fun and amazing! I forgot to mention the new Rise now has the Sram UDH so Eagle Transmission is possible! I reached out to 5Dev and they are not planning to R&D an adapter so we are out of luck. Go check out the new bike!...

Glad we got out to Ted's before it starts raining! Again! End of TT and Minion got pretty rutty but Otter was in amazing condition so we had to run it back! I wasn't expecting a drop before the waterfall lol. Glad we were all safe and sound!!! Ran over some dog poop on the 2nd Otter run too, you can see it splashing up.. Com'on people pick up after your dog! As always, safety first!!!

Fun day at PQ and wanted to check out Disneyland again. Remember, always do your homework, have patience, and safety first always!!! It's always better to have someone who's done the jumps before to tow you in because of the speed. When you're by yourself, just take it easy and despite doing a pre run you will still run into some sketchy situations. Just remember, safety first!!!

Took the Rise out to Ted's for a quick run before the on/off storm that will be accompanied by some rain over the next few days. The kid on the turquoise ibis has absolutely horrible form. This was 2 years ago so hopefully he has improved his technique
Do you need any additional hardware ? With the Ep801 ?
The more you stop the worse it is! Move! 🤣🤣
Great video thanks and it’s helped me decide NOT to buy the Neo. The slowness of follow mode would absolutely kill me! I want Red Bull style FPV drones following me at lightening speed 😂 Think I’ll get the Mini 4K and just fly manually filming my partner on the trails instead 👍🏽
What calculators did you use to find the spring you needed? I was on a 500lbs spring (push 11-6) and with my cascade link, my quick calculator run said to go to 575 - just installed, and I'm basically using full travel just parking lot bouncing. Curious your experience and if you felt like you ended up needing more spring.
@@bokehcreativesfineartstudi4304 TF Tuned 👍🏻 no problem so far
@@allshownogolf thanks!
How much do u weigh?
@@YLDCRD 230 fully geared up
I just bought a new 2023 M10. 70 percent off the original price I couldn’t resist. Kinda can’t wait till the warranty expires to try the new app. I also have a full power emtb so I can feel the difference. I really like the way the Rise rides compared to the 53 pound full power bike though. The extra power is really fun too.
great vid !!
Practically this is not worh as you can make the same epic shot with insta360 invisible stick filming you behind with much higher speed.
@@QuanTranVisuals I have a X2, you'd have to extend the stick quite long to get the same shot. To each and their own though 👍🏻
nice trail, Watching from UAE

@@kennyevans6197 🤣🤣🤣

Do you need app to fly ?
@@komadventure3633 You don't, but with the app it will provide more settings for adjusting to your terrain. I forgot what the baseline settings are if you're just using the drone itself
High and far is the best mode for MTB using the NEO, shred on 🤘
Do you become too small though? Or no? I'll try it out next time thanks!!
@@allshownogolf it’s a whole image, capturing your entire self with bike and trail without cutting your self when you have it level and close. However, to get some exciting close low or close shots through bushes or trees use it we caution, but limited to speed. I like to set it up high and enjoy my ride without looking back for the drone, saves me time and I enjoy the trails better.
Thank you for the insight!
@@SouthwestSasquatch yes I wanted someone to test this scenario....can you please tell me whether it can track you when it is in high far mode or if connected to remote then in active track with higher altitude?? Like when you are there in frame and also landscape and scenery around you also in frame.
@ it will be done 🤘
Great footage!
Best review video for the neo so far. Buying one thanks to you!
@@Kloud9k Dang! DJI should sponsor me! Haha I kid, but thanks for your comment 👊🏻 Safe riding 🤙🏻
I've done follow me mode several times now, it takes some practice but you can get some amazing views. Medium flat is best for in the bushes, high and far good for going faster.
@@JaredMysko Awesome thanks for the recommendation, do you just slow down on sharp turns, as well?
@@allshownogolf yes but you have to keep pace with Neo by sound, listening to lead is like a new artform. You can only learn with practice, I learned a sharp turn can sometimes give Neo exploring ideas lol
@@allshownogolf perfect example of what happens on a sharp turn through the bush: th-cam.com/video/xlnQ4IT9Hvk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FcWH_Oun7Qo31n3g&t=180
How about 'Direction Track' ? I haven't truly figured that out yet. I managed to get it tracking at right angles to me whilst walking forward. I just don't know how I did that; it needs experimentation.
Yea that's a cool mode, but with this trail and its plantations, it wasn't an option as it will definitely hit the trees if it was tracking me from the side likely I mentioned in the beginning
@@allshownogolf I was just wondering how you set up 'direction tracking' to track from the side ? I can't find any decent tutorial when using 'palm' mode.
@@ScarboroughTourist I think you have to connect to phone or controller because it is a sub-mode, along with Boomerang and Helix
@@allshownogolf at 14:17 I somehow did it in palm mode: th-cam.com/video/zzNp-UgFBQU/w-d-xo.html

Nice 👍🏿
you can make it higher by using command or apps toggle
@@signfull1 Yes definitely, that was my next step if the 2nd run failed.
It's a great view that you have. I think in time it will get a little better and track the path you took as well as track you so it keeps the line so that would help with bushes and stuff. In the mean time I find you have to form a good awareness of how it takes corners and does the tracking, that way you are more aware where it will position itself, almost like being in sync with each other I let my son try it and he's a muppet lol so that didn't work so well he was a little too frenetic. Cracking vid BTW, good use case example
Thanks bud, safe riding with your boy!
@@allshownogolf we tried it with the scooter and the skateboard and it was really good, only managed to use it twice as it was busy public wise and then it rained of course but was good
so sick view!
yewww!
thanks for doing this, giver me a lot of insight on how the scenario works and the limitations
Nice job! I mountain bike a lot so I'm really curious how the Neo would do. 13mph is actually fairly fast for MTB so it looked like it did a really good job keeping up. It's supposed to follow your track around corners so it shouldn't get caught up in any trees unless there are some slappers.
@@rwent1 Thanks! I'll try it out on more trails!
Pretty sweet camera work!

How is it holding up still good? Also do you install and modify it all through the app or does it need to be plugged in? Also got a h30. I want it to go 85nm and past 25kmh
Hi, which pump do you have on your frame? I wanted to mount my topeak pump with the original topeak mount, but it does not fit as the frame is to wide. Thanks for your answer.
Nice one! I will do that when the motor is out of warranty :D What kind of ratchet do you have? Is it the stock one from DTSWISS?
I have I9 Hydra hub
Did you solve the cracling from the lingage? What was the place where sound was coming from? What is diameter or model of new bearings you put?
Sucks I did the same exact thing to my brake line lol😂
Is you bike the aluminum version I heard the aluminum version has trouble installing, but it seems like yours went in no problem
We updated the link awhile ago, there are no issues on alloy frames anymore.
6:30 It's deep enough for one, not deep enough for two.... that's what she said ...... aaahahhaha :D . Great video by the way ! 🤓
How much does that cost? Like buying the kit, all the oil and different things I'm gonna need? Thanks
I don't remember really sorry
Aside from this being a very helpful tutorial... It is filmed in my dream garage! WTF?
I just did this with a Orbea Rise cabron 2023 model. It has the hoses routed through an integrated headset. It workes great! I did however, pull the hard hose guide over the motor and made sure the barb was through it before pulling from the top.
What extention did you put on your torque wrench to tighten the crank bolts? I can't find a 1/4 inch square torque bit anywhere with a long stem to 5mm.
Is it easier or harder to jump with the cascade ?
@@YLDCRD I'd say it's the same if you get the spring rate correct, but definitely more plush on landing since you have more travel forgiveness now 👍🏻

is your battery still holding up? mine started to leak :(
@@dorel1312 Yea so far feels about the same, though I only use the 85Nm maybe 10% of the time. What do you mean by leak?
On my H15 I’d like to run with RS (max 60nm) and profile 2 “regular” ep8 settings, 85nm max. I will have to increase wattage to say 250, 400, 500 to accommodate the new profile 2 settings. How will the higher wattage settings affect the ride characteristics and battery life when using the RS profile 1 settings?
I am not 100% sure but using the basic formula of Power = Torque x RPM (aka cadence) I think the higher the power setting means higher motor torque output for the same cadence? Obviously battery usage will be increased, as well.
how many watts at 85nm of torque can the 2022 orbea rise 360 watt/hour bike handle?
@@lithium25693 I don't think anyone confirmed. I just know some ppl on the forum say at 500 they noticed motor vibration

@@fabrizioferla5789 Not sure, I didn't need to change chain size though
When you installed your magura MT5'S the other year, did you still use centrelock hubs? I recently bought a MT5 brakeset and have bought the 6 bolt speed magnet as magura rotors are 6 bolt. I will now need to buy a centrelock to 6 bolt conversion. Just wondering does this work with 6 bolt magnet
I had another set of wheels I built that had 6 bolt pattern so I never used the stock wheel/hub setup
