Good Morning, afternoon and evening everybody.
My name is Miah the King (Pronounced My-Uh the king).
I have been gaming for almost 30 years. I don't have a higher education and I'm not a professional official reviewer by any standard. I'm a husband, a father, a son and a brother and just an average guy. But I like to think I know what people like me expect and enjoy with video games and using that knowledge I review games, mostly indie games and early access games, on my channel.
Video games saved me from depression and this channel and these videos are my way of trying to give something back to the thing that saved me. So before you judge me or my content, give it a look and see if it resonates with you. If it does, then I hope to see you at future content. If it doesn't then no hard feelings.
Thanks for taking the time to visit and to read this. Hope I could help.

doggo gameplay, 10/10 must purchase
I do get those games besides being cheap made money grab things... Low quality and random themes.
I played the demo and loved it. I will be buying it soon. I know the devs are adding a player crime scene to the game later so maybe there will be other content updates in the future.
perhaps. it's interesting enough that if it does I'd be interested
Rats showing up every day is very annoying.
one thing that's missing out of reviews for this game that I'm wondering about. What's in it for the alien player? The merc player is risking their loadout and all the loot they're picking up. I assume aliens don't have a loadout to bring in, so what do they get out of killing the players?
Well the same as the mercs...kinda. They get experience points which they can use for leveling up skills and customizations. Sorry I missed that. But there's a reason...the alien was very boring lol but still sorry my bad :(
@@miah_the_king gotcha. As stated everyone reviewing the game seems to be missing it, you're good
Something I noticed with every review I've watched abt this game is how everyone is trying very hard to love this game. Almost like an "if we believe, we can achieve" ahh review. You being neutral and straight to the point made this and excellent review, good job! I feel wayy more inclined to pick up this game now. Just breaking down what you really do in the game pitches a really good idea of what to expect, a lot of reviewers are being strangely vague when it comes to this.
huh, that's odd. But regardless I'm happy I was able to help you out :) So thanks! :D
Just wanted to say real quick that in the Settings there is an option to make it so when you hold down left click the tool will keep going. So you don't have to keep clicking if you don't want to ^.^ I've personally been enjoying the game. Looking forward to their next major update and beyond stoked it's not super far away. Q4 2024 for those wondering. The game looks really promising and I like that you can change your outfit on a whim, do presets of said outfits, going to a crafting station pulls directly from your chests (unless you tick a little box up top, if you're want to hold onto certain items), and... I can just walk into the stores day or night to buy my things!!! No more waiting for people to be up or not able to purchase what I need because they're out and about. The spells are also neat, but hearing you talk about fireballs does make me realize we only have the one weapon (sword) and I hope they give us more weapons to toy around with in the future.
I busted out laughing when you started complaining about the palette being too pink, because every other screenshot I see in r/StardewValley shows the player having some kinda pastel mod. I don't really get it, but I think they tapped into a real demand with this palette.
Meh to each their own I suppose. If that's what the people want them more power to em. I personally don't like it though :P
yeah the palette in this game is beautiful. i installed reshade for stardew and have to tone things down :( i don't need EVERYTHING to be pink but i appreciate softer palettes way more
@@bunnyellabell Awesome! I hope you continue to enjoy it :)
I actually really enjoyed this game even with hundreds of hours into stardew, my main issue is not being able to find characters I need to finish quests with on the map!!! And the controls for steam deck playing has glitched a few times but it is early access
Yeah that was my biggest pet peeve. Not being able to find the people I needed :(
@@miah_the_king if they have names with the characters on the map (or if you hovered over them or touched on steam deck) it would make things SO much easier
Thanks boss, have been looking at this one
Happy to help! :)
The game is really bad and they scammed a lot of people, stealing their money on kickstarter leveraging their nostalgia and hope
Yk the color scheme is a stylistic choice to make the game more cinematic and indiviual. Also it matches the whole sailor moon vibe which it has going on so it makes sense instead of going for „just basic normal greens“:)
lol I suppose that's a fair enough argument. But I can still not like it XD
@@miah_the_king ofc!
nice review! i think i'll wait a while before getting it
Thanks! And yeah that might be the best option :)
Im sorry to say this but i think it really is a skill issue. The game has janky controls and orders but you can abuses medical station ability to boost smg or mg squads to assault enemy positions pretty easily. Your gameplay looks like your micro skill could use some serious work as well. For example going back to the medical station point if you combined it with 2 or 3 grenades you can push any enemy out of their cover and kill them. You also show no game footage of you using the prone of crouch order which basically gives you cover without cover. The game could do with some more commands like a stop button because personally i find it very annoying when my troops get into a fire fight and keep moving while shooting. Otherwise i think you got a some valid criticisms
Wow. Don't the developers play their own games? Why would they make it so hard, almost impossibly difficult to the point that it's a job? Games should be for fun, and they should reward the player and make them want to come back and repeat the adventure. Great review. Thanks!
Thanks so much! And don't get me wrong, I can understand challenging games being fun. Even I enjoyed Elden Ring. But there's challenging, and then there's downright unplayable unfair.
Some people want hard games. Frostpunk, Squad, Hell let loose, men of war, Gates of Hell, Last train Home, and Partisans 1941 and even more games that are hardcore and make it so you cant just go guns blazing and have to use your head. Theres a market for these games
I might wait to get this one , At this point a dew-like has to be really really good to get my interest
I think this one has some really serious potential. I can understand not wanting to buy it while it's in early access, however when I played it the game was actually still really fun and well put together.

Always happy to see you review cozy cute games 😊 can you do a “yearly review” or something that compares and ranks all the games you played
Every year I try to do top 10 best indie games video. This one might be there :D
The campaign doesn't even have a save or pause function. Lmfao
I get that “stardew valley clone” gets views but please… enough is enough
Totally agree! I saw 2 of his videos and he says all the time "stardew valley clone". like omg does he even know the genre?? he keeps talking as if SDV was the only farming game ever or the first one... And graphically this new game looks more like the harvest moon of Sness.
I didn't say it for views. I said it to compare. Not everyone watches all of my videos. So sometimes I have to use similar language because the only thing that's actually important is the overall message and view of the game. Apologies if I repeated myself too many times but nobodies perfect.
@miah_the_king you repeat that sooo many times that it gets annoying. And those games are not even clones. You kinda have no idea what a clone game is. Comparing and calling something a copy is not the same thing. And you calling it clone is annoying.
@@CTMillan Would the word homage be better?
@reffwe sounds better, but most of the gameplay compared to sdv existed already wayyyyy before sdv. It's just part of the genre, so it's not a homage or a copy of sdv. Farming gameplay it's being the same since the first harvestmoon (fishing is not like sdv) friendship is just like the first hm too (and like every game in the genre) mining was invented first like for the 2 or 3 hm and combat I believe was first implemented by rune factory. So you see what I mean when I said is not something copied from sdv? The only thing I see that is directly inspired by sdv is how you find the ladders to go down in the mines, and maybe that the rooms in the mines change. If we talk about the oixel art style, it is not similar to sdv it looks more like the sness hm
Solid review. That said I love this game. SC2 is legendary. Coming close…not bad
Its sooo worth it!
this guy's life seems really hard.
RTS really needs its own equivalent of Doom 2016 or Doom Eternal. Instead, we get yet another copycat... Eh...
SC2 graphics still look WAYYY better.
I agree
My guy, of course it's similar to Starcraft. Frost Giant is the former core RTS team from Warcraft and Starcraft from back in the day. It's well documented they wanted to make an RTS game, and Blizzard was pretty much done with it, so they broke off and made their own thing.
I mean...okay and? Just because they're behind another game doesn't mean it's okay to recreate the same game a second time. They could have done anything. If anything this just shows they're a one trick pony and lack imagination. And since the game released in such a confusing and poor manor, it doesn't boost confidence.
@@miah_the_king "[...]doesn't mean it's okay to recreate the same game a second time." This worked wonders for Dune 2 and Command and Conquer, Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander, Age of Empires and Rise of Nations/Empire Earth, Supreme Commander and Planetary Annihilation. There is value in being inspired and making a "like" game, just look at the boomer shooters and people of that genre is happy af. In other hand I understand why you are angry at Frost Giant but i think you arguments, the ones comparing Stormgate and Starcraft 2, are very poorly made.
Yes, but how is this new gen RTS? Or have you ignored the lie?
@@JuanxDlol Really? Because I legit have proof in the video comparing them side by side. It's almost a complete copy. And as to your other comment. When those other games are made, they are given more value or improvements over previous games. They aren't the exact same game re-created. And if it was, then I'd be frustrated at that as well. Take a look at age of empires 2 and 3. Are they the exact same game? no! THey play very similarly to each other, but AoE 3 added improvements, units, maps, campaigns, and just overall newer stuff even with the U.I. and menu's. If they wanted to make a SC2 clone but make it better, then fine, more power to them. But from my playthrough the game doesn''t look like it will. From my PoV it looks like it'll end up being less than their previous entry which is something you should be annoyed at.
I enjoy playing the game. It is fun having a new competetive RTS to play inspired by SC2 etc. Why complain? I think the top bar options in the game are really cool.
Why complain? Well...it's not really complaining. Not technically. It's called reviewing. Which serves only a positive influence. Even awful reviews of really awful games still boosts their sales. Reviews are important. It lets the community know whats going on as well as lets the developers know how the masses feel. Which helps them to become better developers...if they're smart. Also it's sort of a checks and balances kind of thing. If we never say anything when they make mistakes or make bad games then they'll only think they can keep getting away with low quality effort/content. Which means the general quality of games goes down. Look at EA Games and the madden franchise. Proof's right there.
The one complaint I don't resonate with is that its just more StarCraft 2. It's been 10 years...I can't point to five other games that are just more StarCraft 2 that have come out since SC2....so even a B-tier SC2 is overwhelmingly welcome at this point. I haven't bought the game so I have no real pushback on anything else. Good on you for calling out the payment model and the store. I'm very much aware they plan to go FTP on Aug 13th but you are correct to call this out and to not trust devs based on the long history of games. They didn't earn our trust and have lied to us on the store page. That criticism should be called out as its setting expectations to the consumer before they decide to financially support the game.
Thank you very much! Also, trust me when i say I know where you're coming from. I literally grew on on games like that. Age of Empires 2-3. Starcraft 1. Warcraft 2-3. Rise of Nations. Age of mythology and I could keep going. But that doesn't mean we need a copy of an older already great game. What we need is a game of the same style, but BETTER than it's predecessors...not the same. That doesn't lead to gaming innovation. It leads to a gaming creative blackhole. We don't want that. And if we want to have great RTS games again like we did 20 years ago, then we have to call out shoddy quality when we see it, else they'll keep giving us shoddy quality.
It would have been fair to mention that the creators are ex-sc2 developers. Then it less of blatant rip-off and more that this is just how they were trained
bro just look at the unit "hedgehog" what dog shit is this? seriously man?
CORRECTION 5:39 STARCRAFT 2 CAME OUT FOUR FUCKING TEEN 14 YEARS AGO MAN 14!!!!
My nibba, it'll be free to play in less than two weeks. Also they've clearly stated that it was heavily inspired by Starcraft and Warcraft so you putting them side by side as some sort of criticism is kind of moot.
You know what's funny about the campaing? The first mission is literally the first human mission from Reign of Chaos
lol wow. Yeah when I saw it I immediately thought of the first SC2 mission. Crazy..
@@miah_the_kingit's almost as if all RTS campaign missions start in a similar manner...
@@FullMetalSnorlax Really? So this starter and SC2 starter is just like Warcraft 3 starter? Age of Empires 2,3,4 starter? Rise of nations starter? Age of mythology starter? Cuz....I don' think so.
@@miah_the_king I'd say yes to all of those except age of mythology which starts on a base defense mission. It's pretty typical to start a campaign on "here are some units. Get familiar with controls by walking to some waypoints and figting revealed enemy units. Rescue a bunch of units near the end and storm an underdefended enemy base" Although that last bit didnt happen until the second part of warcraft 3s tutorial, still basically how you want to do onboarding for your RTS game.
@@miah_the_king I can name several other games that open like this too. Imposible creatures, Zombie tycoon, Atrox, ParaWorld, Hooligans, Starship troopers: Terran command. Probably dozens more that I can't remember.
New Sub
Thanks so much! I can't wait to see you at future content :)
I enjoyed FNAF Security Breach more when it first came out because at the very least the game was pretty to look at.
As someone who bought the $60 package as I wanted to support the devs, the fact that there's STILL things you can buy (a co-op commander and a pet) is a bit stupid. For context in the bundle you get 3 co-op commanders which is $30, a pet which is $5 and 3 campaign missions which I'm guess is about $10~. I'm hoping I can get a refund. And ALLLL of that pales in comparison with how poorly co-op is optimized, and the fact that they straight up copy-pasted missions from SC2 like Dead of Night and Rifts to Korhal.
Just a rant of an uninformed guy 🙄 And I wouldn't blame you for not doing a research on this game if you didn't also make a video review. Being a content creator requires some effort. But the fact that you're complaining that a game in Early Access is incomplete is inexcusable 🙄
Did you even watch the video? Maybe actually watch it because I'm definitely not complaining just because it's incomplete.
It's not inexcusable at all. Frost Giant are nearly out of money. They raised $41M and, according to their own documents they filed with the SEC, have spent almost all of it. Their burn rate is $1M per month. For this game to see a 1.0 release will require one of the most successful EA launches in history (and that's for any game, not just an RTS). The reason they're releasing into EA now is because they have no choice - they need the revenue.
@@allanshpeley4284 Yeah the amount of money it takes just to make a simple indie game is pretty damn high I can't imagine. But seriously? I refuse to believe they spent 41 million dollars on THIS. Where did all the money go??? Slime Rancher was better and made 1/30'th of the money they spent on this one! lol
This is the problem with programmer types. They are copy artists. Not a single original thought in this entire game. This is the most disappointing game I've ever seen released.
This is exactly the idea I have shared since finding it years ago. They are coders at best, woke monstrosities at worst. - Adûnâi
You can take the dev team but without the resources, the art, the world building, and story telling they'll just end up making crap.
Dude, you don't understand marketing speak "next-gen". For ex. you are "next-gen" from your father, but are you BETTER? :)
yeah, except with products it also comes with the expectation that it'll be better in every regard than the last gen
it says on the steam page that the game will be free to play in 2 weeks. “Stormgate is a free-to-play (on August 13)
Sensationalism and misinformation on his part.
Literally it's an early access supporters pack... WOW. Misinformation. Leaving the video now. Poor review. "Poor man's starcraft, literally made by starcraft devs to make a modern starcraft."
"Celestials have shields to every unit and have pylons to expand where they are allowd to build" He wants to say to hard that the game is a exactly copy and paste of starcraft that he doesn't even played the game.
@@MathianSC2 What I said wasn't wrong. So what's your point?
@@spearwy7240 It's not misinformation if you misunderstand it
As a hardcore gamer from Warcraft 3, I believe Stormgate has significant potential. It combines the best elements from WC3 and SC2, with most of the developers coming from Blizzard. Yes, it has many issues, but that’s because they haven’t reached the polish phase yet. SC2 took 7 years to develop with a very large company backing it. Stormgate will have been in development for 4 years by October. I recommend checking out some videos about the development of SC2 to compare it with what Stormgate was like at its 4th year of development, so you know what to expect. If you want to blame someone, blame the investors; they are the ones pushing for games to be released in early access to guarantee their return on investment. The developers truly care about this game.
Well I hope you're right. Only time will tell though. But developers need to earn our trust, it shouldn't just be given out freely.
Have you looked at the Starcraft 2 Alpha reveal trailer? That was multiple years before the release of SC2 and it looked miles better than Stormgate does in this stage. Stormgate has had about half the budget that SC2 had for development, yet it has way less content than half of what SC2 was at Beta. Plus, much of that SC2 budget went into advertisement (that stuff is expensive) and Stormgate is relying on word-of-mouth, they even stated that they have a nearly non-existent marketing budget. They also now have 14 years worth of advanced tools and experience in game development as ex-Blizz devs. Although yes this is more of an indie title so you can expect some degredation, the fact that they refer to this as "Next-Gen" and as a "Successor" and constantly mention they are ex-Blizz devs set expectations high. Ultimately, it's not an issue of "lack of finances" or "lack of time", but rather a series of bad decisions from art style to misleading expectations to bad story-writing and animation. It's a problem of execution, not paycheck.
@@GamingInShades That's a...lot to take in. But none of it seems lacking or wrong imo. When you consider everything they "Should" have and yet THIS is what they eventually put out....it's...even more depressing lol
@@GamingInShadesThis is the problem with modern-day content creation. People who were 6 years old when SC2 released can post on their 3k subscriber account as if they have an informed opinion.
@@transistor3115 I mean, everyone should have the ability to form an opinion. Sub count shouldn't be an indication on anything related to "informed opinions". Miah had probably more knowledge about this than the average random gamer as they clearly gave it a shot, so this gives a good image/understanding as to what the general population thinks of Stormgate. It's okay to not have all the details, if anything that shows how poorly Stormgate's devs are going about providing clear information. Just to make sure people understand, I want Stormgate to succeed and I've been a backer from when Tim Morton first left Blizzard to create this company. I'm just wildly disappointed and it seems like many others are as well. Miah is just another person who tried it out, got whatever info they got, and provided their opinion. I don't think that needs any hostility towards them. I'm glad they shared their thoughts and hopefully it leads to more people doing more research.
Its not about overhyped xD. This game just sucks. You can smell the microtransaction from a mile away. its gonna be p2w for sure

"Yo, okay, the game isn't great right now, but they always said it would be free to play and available in mid-August. You can't blame a game for having a paid early access; it shows that you support the developers and you get a little bonus with it
That's a very fair argument. But I wasn't someone who was following the game or the devs. I was just some guy who stumbled upon a game and then was confused. Think of how many other people out there experienced the same thing I did? But regardless it's still a fair point. Doesn't change the rest of the issues with the game though
@@miah_the_king It's okay, but we can't blame them for early access; they're a small studio and need money and support, and they've been transparent about that. Moreover, we need to understand that this studio is progressing the fastest and strongest in the RTS genre. They have set up the infrastructure and foundational aspects of the game, which are the hardest parts to establish in an RTS. Now that this is in place, they themselves say they are progressing exponentially because the fundamentals are solid.Personally, I have many issues with the unit design and the lack of creativity in the storyline, but I know that in a year, the game will be very solid
@@clausewitz8321 Unfortunately, Frost Giant has nearly burned through all of their $41M investment and probably won't make it another year. Someone on the Stormgate subreddit ran the numbers for a bunch of different scenarios and the vast majority of them show FG running out of cash within 6-8 months.
I hope they will really work hard to improve this game. After one or two years, it might be playable...
Not sure if bad liar or just blatant stupidity but the game team doesnt remotely try to hide that they're the SC2 dev team that left blizzard...
I thought they were the WC3 dev team, because this is Warcraft 4.
What is wrong with that?
Game is so bad, refunded it
