Jayzus Andy your brave and an innovator, I’ll give you that! 👏Are you not worried about the queens getting lost or injured though!? And is the hair dryer on a cooler setting to prevent wax damage? I love the idea of the OA & glycerin soaked strips too👌

@@RoloTomasi654 hello there 😊 there is not enough time and temperature to melt a wax (needs over 65°C). Queen loses are less than 5%, but huge benefit have 0 % mites at the spring time! 👍

The best series for beginners and not only! Good job, Andrew! I wanted to ask you, you've mentioned about "special queens", can you please explain what are some the characteristics of a special queen, comparing with the normal queens that you produce? What characteristics to look for if I want to make my own queens with strong genetics?

Big thumbs up from a fairly new subscriber, I already watched all your videos recently and I have to say, this is the best info on beekeping that I could find on youtube, well deserved the subscription. I wanted to ask, why do you kill the old queen, it is not worth saving it if it has a good genetics? I would love to see that you make more videos, if time will permit. The previous season i've tried a new method of the replacing the queen. I killed the old queen and put it into a cage with the new mated queen, so they are in the cage together. After about 4 days when candy is over the new queen was accepted. I made that trick twice, and it's worked. I noticed that even putting the cage with those two queens in it on frames, there's no aggression. My theory that they feel the old queen's pheromone even if she's already dead and by the time when they're together, the new one getting smell similar. Thats why they're accepting her that fast.
