    I come from Sacramento, CA. That place is falling apart with the homeless and forest fires, like San Francisco nearby. I have been living in Columbia County for 3 years now and I think it's all right. It is getting better, not worse. I commute to the Summerville area of Augusta for college and I really like that area. Lots of beautiful, well-kept properties. So no, not all of Augusta is "run-down, crime-ridden or ghetto". I live in a suburban area of Grovetown that has experienced a lot of growth while the roads (2-lane) have stayed the same, causing a lot of heavy traffic. At least you see the County working acceptably hard to solve that problem, but really, growth and development are a bit out of control in my opinion. As a recent move here, I admit I am part of that problem, but I pay the taxes that are fixing the problem!.... Grovetown does not have a downtown at all. The core is just a hole with a few scattered old neighborhoods here and there. All public buildings are scattered all over the area and you still have to go to Evans to get your DMV and other public services. It would be really nice if the city re-developed the core of the town as a walkable, attractive small town with a boulevard/Main Street/Broadstreet a mindfully-designed city park with strict usage rules and a small Police detachment nearby, mostly for deterrence. Evans did something similar to that and it is working fine.

    I have been here all my life, I was raised in Thomson Ga. I get to Augusta when I can. I take my father to the VA at times. Over the decades I have seen many changes in Augusta and not for the best. The whole city has become a Ghetto. That is why conservatives have left this town. It is mostly a welfare town. That is why it will become another Detroit. Do not believe me, just ask Austin Rhodes. He is a local news talk host. Over the years many inductries have left Augusta, just look into South Augusta's history. This is what socialism gets us. Some folks call it progressiveness. It is just code for communism.That is what Augusta , Ga has become a communist regime after the consolidation of its two governments into one. People living in the County really have no more say with what goes on. That is why they have just counted their losses , packed thier belonging and fled like refugees for an unknown future in a more stable land called Columbia County. Shalom Alecheim Dr. Israel Moshe Kedar Thd.

    Omg this lady should live in Florida for a month. Georgia ain’t seen nothing for bugs. People tend to walk on nature trails seeking nature which includes Snakes. Everything she names as a negative is normal for an up and coming area. It’s growing because it is a highly desirable safe area with awesome amenities and great schools and good people. I think she just wants to move for other reasons. I hope no one is swayed by this lady‘s opinion. Does she realize Evans was named the number one city in America for livability a few years back? That’s what caught my attention as I sought to leave Florida due to hurricanes and high prices. We wound up in Grovetown and I’m OK with that, but Evans was the first choice.

    • @livinginaugusta
      @livinginaugusta 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I actually love living here! There are people from other areas who aren't used to snakes and bugs and things like that, so I figure it's best to tell them so they aren't surprised if they move here. I lived in Thailand for 3 years and they have moths the size of your hand and snakes that are scarier than these... so it's all relative! I hope you enjoy your week and I'm glad you like living in Grovetown- I lived there for 14 years and did enjoy that area too.

    Downtown Chicago is not "Crimey" The South Side is..The West Side is.. This is just a real-estate pitch to save a floundering business.... Hilton Head is where you want, not the other side of a river from a failed city...It's like comparing St. Louis to East St. Louis----Who cares?? They are both awful.

    • @livinginaugusta
      @livinginaugusta 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have several friends who love Hilton Head! :D I don't script my videos, so I didn't really research what I said about Chicago, and I apologize for my mistake. Thank you for the correction. :D There are lots of people who do love the Augusta area, but it is definitely not for everyone. I don't do real estate pitches and my business is the perfect amount- not so busy that I can't spend time with family, but busy enough that my husband doesn't have to work and we can travel when we want to for the most part. I hope you have an amazing day!

    Hi, all. We are seriously considering moving to Evans. We are likely to live in Whispering Pines. The good news is we have family in Evans and I’ve already been to two ISI classes. Ha. What I’m asking is, brutal honesty, and with an eye towards positivity, what do you love and not like about living in Evans and the surrounding areas? It seems impossible transplanting a family, and a way of life here, at home, but feeling good about it. Great content/video!

    • @livinginaugusta
      @livinginaugusta 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey! That's exiting- Whispering Pines is nice and I think you'll enjoy it there! Traffic on William Few Parkway can be heavy, especially during rush hour times, but it's convenient to Publix, Walmart, Kroger and not too far from the Evans Target shopping center. Make sure to call or text me and I can show you around when you get here or help you find a home to buy in Whispering Pines! :D

    Jones Creek is a nice neighborhood, but not the best one in Columbia County and if he was such a snob you were better off without him. Jones Creek golf course has gone and it is now become just a very nice residential neighborhood. The Mall is just a short ride on Wrightsboro Road which is in Richmond County (Augusta) which is a lot different than Columbia County (Evans). It's hard to tell when you leave Richmond County and enter Columbia County unless you look for the sign. Funny she mentioned Atlanta which is a seriously problem city instead of going to August Mall which has had one shooting in it's lifetime. Yes, we have a lot of shopping. Bars/night clubs are only a mile or two away and the restaurants we have do serve alcohol and we have liquor stores in Columba County/Evans. Yes, lady we are hot in Evans just like the rest of Georgia and the rest of the South and I remember the last time we had snow was in the late 1990's, early 2000's.

    This lady is over-reacting to the termite problem. Yes, we do have lots of different bugs, but no different than any city in the U.S. just different kinds of bugs that must be treated. No one I know has ever had any destructive damage as the regular treatment is totally effective and is something that every household all over the U.S. must be aware of.

    • @livinginaugusta
      @livinginaugusta 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have just had a few of my past clients who have had some serious issues- one home is having the brick from one side of her house removed to treat and repair the damage termites have done. This is definitely not the normal, but extensive damage can happen.

    I live in Martinez/Evans, GA and love it and yes, Columbia County is a little higher economically than Richmond County - but maybe that's because we have a little less crime, cleaner streets, no homeless, have a better quality of residents. However, Richmond County (Augusta) is the pits. It is almost like other big cities while it's not really a big city, if you know what I mean. Columbia County (Evans) is much cleaner, safer (yes, we do have some crime, but little compared to Augusta). And yes, we have a lot of traffic during getting-off-work times like any other city. Left turns are NOT that bad since we have plenty of turn lanes and polite people who allow someone turn in front of them. I, and many of my friends, don't even go into Augusta (Richmond County) because we have everything we need in Evans. My taxes are not that high and we have so many businesses we don't even have to go into Augusta. Grovetown, another suburb of Augusta/Evans is where most of the Ft. Eisenhower personnel live and shop so not too much interaction.

    I can remember a 70s song from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band called American Dream with the lyrics "Augusta Georgia is just no place to be". Is it a better place now? Lol I've only visited once. 1983 my newborn had to stay in the Children's Hospital for a few days.

    Growing up in Augusta, it will always be to me Ft Gordon and Clarks Hill. It will be a very long time before ppl will only know them for the names they currently have now. Several generations have to first die out.

    After living in West Augusta for 25 years I moved to an area I had never even considered, North Augusta, across the river in South Carolina. My commute actually decreased. North Augusta feels like a small town with lots of nice parks and places to walk and bike.

    Lived here for 48 years and saw the growth in Columbia County and also saw the difference in the way law enforcement, schools, neighborhoods, security and safety are managed. Richmond County (Augusta) is mostly democrat run whereas the neighboring county (Columbia) is more conservative. Yes, there's crime in Columbia County but smaller amounts of it and dealt with differently. Taxes in Columbia county are somewhat lower than Richmond County. Lots of activities in both counties but we always feel safer in Columbia County during these events.

    I've lived in Augusta since I was a teenager...about 35 years. I remember when Columbia County (Martinez, Evans, Grovetown) weren't that big at all and in fact were small suburbs and now wow have they expanded along with Augusta. The Military and the Medical District along with the Universities bring in new residents every year. Personally I like Hephzibah and southward there's more space and more country. Nice channel...liked and subscribed. 😎👍

    Have a potential job in Augusta Georgia. Some of the reasons that you state do not seem that bad. I was military for 6 years and have lived all over e.g. Spokane, WA, Seatte, WA, Pendleton, OR, Upstate NY. Overall it does not seem that bad -- what would your opinion be for someone like myself? Thank you! Side note: No kids, just me, and I have a cat.
