How to SAVE Money 💰 Filling up Raised Garden Beds
To fill raised garden beds on a budget, consider these cost-effective options:
Compost: Make your own compost from kitchen scraps and yard waste. This is free and nutrient-rich.
Lasagna gardening: Layer organic materials like cardboard, leaves, grass clippings, and kitchen scraps. This method builds soil over time.
Bulk soil: Buy soil in bulk from local landscape suppliers rather than bagged soil from garden centers.
Topsoil mix: Blend inexpensive topsoil with compost or well-rotted manure to improve quality.
Wood chips: Use free wood chips from local tree services to fill the bottom third of deep beds.
Hugelkultur: Bury logs, branches, and other woody debris at the bottom of your beds. As they decompose, they'll provide nutrients.
Local resources: Check with local farms or stables for free or low-cost manure.
Reclaimed materials: Use old leaves, grass clippings, or straw as filler in the lower layers of your beds.
Vermiculite or perlite alternatives: Use pine bark fines or rice hulls as cheaper alternatives to improve drainage.
Cover crops: Plant cover crops to improve soil quality between growing seasons.

I just just put some blood meal and 5:5 down for mines. They werent that far gone. That blood meal usually keeps them going. Its hot here in Texas.
Cool. I like this💚
Very cool!
Nice seed organizer. 👍🏾👍🏾
👍🏽
My great-grandfather spliced a hot pepper with a tomato and made a hot tomato. Can you recreate it in your garden?

So sorry all I can say is pick off the bad leaves make sure they get watered if needed fertilized I've had this happen to me but it was after a hard frost Im sorry I can't tell you what's wrong with them because I don't know but spray them with a fungicide and give water fertilizer as long as you know they're not over fertilize good luck mines did survive
Ooo that’s so cool👏🏻👏🏻💜💜
My tomatoes are starting to produce again now that we've had a cold front of 90's instead of 100's but your tomatoes and peppers look really good.
@@rootsshootsgardenboots lol 😂 coldfront yup only in tx
Nice 👍🏽
Very slick. Liked how you got the reveal right in the slab. If it's not square up top you'll never see it unless it's really bad😂 I used to build in NC n slabs, footings, n block foundations being out of square was the norm not the exception.
@@tommyrussell1415 yea it was hard because the wood was warped and the slab wasnt square
@@urbanharvestdfw 😂😂 never fails. The trick is hiding all the imperfections, which seems like you did very well. Well, the most important is to be strong enough n secure enough not to blow around n break something, but looked like you had that covered.😉

This Texas heat is doing a number on my garden. But yes, okra is one of my best heat tolerant crops!

Thank you so much for sharing the video.💚
It's my pleasure
Rsenc is not a word. it's spelled arsenic.
@@rockys7726 yup! darn autocaptions
I have started just making a pile of dirt with no edges or borders and using it. I know it sounds dumb but when I look at beds with hard borders it seems like the plants are in cages. That's the way my mom gardened and I never liked it. I guess I kind of make beds that look like swales now.
Excellent
Nice sharing fam☘
