To get rid of the gnats, throw all your worm food in the freezer. All the scraps you're throwing in the bin that're rotting are causing a gnat making environment. Throw all the food scraps in the freezer and freeze them before throwing it into the bin. This will give a first level of time that kills off eggs and the worms will also eat through the food better. Because the food is a frozen Popsicle first, it breaks down easier as it thaws out.
