The Gold Mine On Grandfather Mountain
มุมมอง 1.2Kปีที่แล้ว
I took a trip into the past deep into the woods of Grandfather Mountain in Watauga County North Carolina. There is a old gold mine in the State Park that is about impossible to find. No trail or map. I just crossed the creeks and absorbed nature. This adventure created a wonderful bushwhacking experience in the late winter season. I could see miles deep into the woods. Which allowed me to spot ...

This is a night digging adventure under the full moon in Rowan County, North Carolina. This spot got on my radar from the shared knowledge on the Facebook group North and South Carolina Minerals. This amethyst vein was revealed during the construction of s...

The gutter flume. I had to try it out and the results are shocking. The North Carolina Gold Belt provided the adventure.
Diggers Nightmare or Diggers Dream Propst Farm | Ruby Sapphire Corundum

This is not your everyday digging at Propst Farm. The owner of the farm Ronald needed new well dug on the property. This year I have been working with Ronald on projects around the property and farm. This was a job that I couldn't sleep the night before but not for the typical reason. Knowing the water lines had to be hooked up after the well was dug we could only dream about what corundum ruby...

Rock Quartz Crystal Boulders North Carolina Gem Collecting

This is a new spot that I have had my eye on for some years. North Carolina has tons of opportunities to dig gems and crystals. This spot was first discovered by me cleaning trash and maintaining a homeowners property line. Over the years I kept picking up the quartz chunks exposed on the surface looking for crystals over the property while doing various jobs. Over the years I have found a few ...
Just Another Ditch in N.C. Washout Quartz Crystals Alluvial

After the heavy rains I decided to do a quick trip up a small branch of spring water in Western North Carolina. I know it has the tendency to washout quartz crystals. I felt there was no need to narrorate due to the relaxing sound of the flow of the water. Normally I find some small crystals but not this time. I love North Carolina.

I made one of those out of a corrugated drain.I cut it in half.Put some wires in it to keep it from curling up.And I made myself the cold with a snail fluid.Because when you take the wires out it rolls up like a snail

Maybe someone can help. I live in Jonesboro GA. We were planting some trees at our house and noticed little gold flakes in the soil just about everywhere. We also were digging up huge chunks of quartz. I do know there was a gold rush in north Atlanta in the early 1800s. We are further south. I gathered, after some research, that the gold flakes are likely Micah deposits(which actually may be come valuable in the near future due to their use in computer parts?). Anyway, i started saving all the rocks that Ive been digging up. I broke open an 8inch by 4inch piece of quartz allong a natural fracture it had, revealing some dark contracting color inside, giving it a camo type pattern. There is a lot of the same black stuff in the other stones as well. I do know that nearby Stone Mountain, was made from an ancient valcano eruption millions of years ago. My questions are Is this black stuff valcanic ash? Or possibly part of the "black mat layer" from the Younger Dryas boundry? Is it worth my time cleaning these or just selling them to someone that will care for them? Is there a chance some of the gold flakes could be actual gold since gold has been found in this general area? Thanks!

So it has to be distilled water, not tap? Cuz I really want to use tap. (It’s all I have) Lol. Also- I just found a bunch of opal!! A lot of it covered in hard bentonite clay (I think)it’s not coming off soaking in water. Can I use muriatic acid, oxalic acid, or, iron out, on it with out damaging the opal? If not do u know how to clean it? And one more thing- I’m in Az summer just hit- so our hounding season is ending and it’s now our cleaning time. lol funny huh!!- those ice cycles are looking mighty fine to me right about now!!!

Actually, the adit is in the center of the pond. You can see the rails to it some times. The entrance looks like a square gate with a hole in it. Also, they did not flood it for safety. They hit the aquifer and it flooded itself is what I have been told. Also, the emeralds form in the quartz and biotite. The tourmaline forms in the same, but looking for the biotite mica meeting quartz is the best place to look. You will find emeralds fully in the biotite. So look hard there too.

In mid-September of 2023, I saw a mountain lion cross the road beneath the event center on Biltmore Estate, Asheville, N.C. it was headed toward the sheep barn. I reported it to an employee for she was afoot maintaining signs beside the road below where I saw the cat. Great Pyrenees dogs now guard the sheep. If you Google " Biltmore, mountain lion", another writer relates about a mountain lion with a cub was spotted in the same area.
