      Thank you very much for the question! I would like to add water changes are important for daphnia because of our ability to overfeed a little bit over time. I would definitely check out Takashi Amano set ups for inspiration. The only thing is if you want to do a wider variety of plants especially like stem plants you will need substrate and I recommend fluval stratum or ADA aqua soil. I used to do multiple plants in single aquariums but found it was much easier to make one plant very happy than 5 different types happy at the same time so I kind of just ended up using a few plants i know do really well in my water together like christmas moss and jungle val. They both carpet and are very functionally universal.

    I have a question and I hope I'm not too late asking, how do you do water changes without sucking up or scooping up any daphnia, I currently have a baby snail takeover in a lot of my tanks and it forces me to use cheesecloth or gauze on the end of a gravel vac so I'm not picking a hundred dirt sized snails out of each bucket, I just got some daphnia for two tanks one to culture, and one to feed on a suspended algae bloom, I'm curious how I'll do water changes now without disturbing the daphnia??????

    • @Nice-Poeci-Fancy-Guppies
      @Nice-Poeci-Fancy-Guppies 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I put a fish net over the intake of the gravel cleaner with a rubber band or hair tie and keep the hose close to the ground level of the aquarium. And I use the thicker mesh net, like the white one that isnt as see through.

    I recently had fish shipped in from California from that and every time there's been dead fish in it and it's that type of bag you're using what's the secret to doing it so the fish can survive

    • @Nice-Poeci-Fancy-Guppies
      @Nice-Poeci-Fancy-Guppies 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for your question. Im not sure exactly what your saying but I think you want to know why my fish dont die in shipping while using this bag? So my tips and tricks for this bag is understanding there is no pump pushing co2 or o2 through the bag therefore there is a small threshold for oxygen transferred using this bag. Big Fish are old and larger fish means more oxygen is required. If you try to ship too many larger fish inside of these bags the fish can suffocate. Young fish right at sexual maturity ship best and are better for hobbyist receiving as well. I have received fish from Thailand after 2 weeks in these bags and know them to work well with few small fish in a bag or singular fish per bag. I have shipped over 143 boxes of fish and have had 2 issues which were solved once I understood this a few years ago selling too many mutts in a bag. Its also possible somebody is selling fake knockoffs made of regular plastic bags, these things all come from China or that the fish were shocked and that was the weakest link etc.
