Hot Air SMD Rework Station Repair
My hot-air SMD rework station died at the worst possible time, right when I needed it. It started displaying 0P on the display.
Turns out there was what's probably a thermocouple (now that I've thought about it for a minute) completely disconnected. It may have initially had the wire touching the solder without beings soldered through the through-hole.
So let's see what that'll take to repair!

Removing Rubber Coating
มุมมอง 1.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Happy New Year! And can we remove a sticky rubber coating? Probably. Find out how I fared with the cleaners sitting nearest my bench. This also includes a quick teardown of a generic PowerA 051082 controller. If I run across another one of these I'll follow up with a run through the ultrasonic cleaner in a few different chemical baths. And if you're curious about that serial two wire chip the s...
Wii-U Screen Digitizer Hack! Replacing a cracked display panel
มุมมอง 2.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Switching out a cracked Wii U screen and attaching or re-attaching the digitizer seemed like a pain. So I cheated. As it turns out you don't need to remove the digitizer from the bezel to re-use it. If you'd like me to shoot a video on the entire process of pulling the screen out and replacing it let me know in the comments down below. It didn't seem too challenging so I left it out on this one...
Tevo Tarantula Final Thoughts

I've done a final teardown of my (old) Tevo Tarantula to it's constituent parts and had a few thoughts on it's build quality. If you'd like a longer video analyzing the build and parts themselves let me know in the comments. This 3D printer was just too cheaply built to bodge into working order. At some point you flip from being a good value for the money and become a waste of money.

Slowing Down Sonic the Hedgehog - Fixing a McSega Handheld (short)

One of the McDonald's/Sega Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration handheld LCD games from the last video was running *too* fast. I know, it's almost an expected problem with Sonic the Hedgehog, but this made the game unplayable. So I'm cracking it open one more time to see if there's anything that can be repaired. There's a resistor, two capacitors, and not much else so we're going to see what that r...
Will 3D Printer Filament Break in PTFE Tubing? Does it Snap Because of Moisture?
มุมมอง 9903 ปีที่แล้ว
We're going to perform an experiment to see if PLA filament will break from sitting in PTFE tubing. And will moisture cause it to snap even in a dry environment? Back when I recorded the "Why Does My Filament Keep Breaking?" McDonald's Sonic the Hedgehog Games (2004) Teardown

McDonald's has teamed up with Sega to produce a variety of one-off handheld LCD games over the years starting around 2004. Replacing Your Power Supply and Fixing Wiring - 3D Printer Repair
มุมมอง 3.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Wiring a proper power supply for a 3D printer is important. Here's how to replace a power supply and properly connect wiring. This should be pretty cross-applicable to any 3D printer. If your printer doesn't use an external switching supply it's likely using one of these internal industrial component supplies. And the wiring on this unit was horrendous. I went ahead and crimped on terminal ends...

LED Light Bulb Filament (3v): Make Your Low Voltage Projects GLOW (ComM)

So I was able to install even Windows 11, instaling programs and data on D: - including all updates. The tablet is of course quite slow, but I use 3 of them mostly for telephony, signal/whatsapp web video conference and web radio - and sometimes for remote access to my desktop at home with vpn and rdp in my office and two home offices.
