Bargain, I scored a boss260 5speed manual few years ago for 6k too. Swapped wheels, added short shifter kit. And a good buffing n TLC. Love BA XRs. Good to see people still modding, swapping motors bit over my head. Radiators n water pumps is all I've done, plus speakers, amps n head units. Years ago.
No way, I used to know the owner of this car he had the stock barra turbo for a while but it blew and then he copped a aftermarket turbo for $250 on FB marketplace, the tune was done prior to the aftermarket turbo being installed, might need a retune.
@@894-i4q check out my other videos it gets a lot more than a re tune
Great job, mate. Nice car.

I took my turbo out years ago to change the wastegate sol, I forgot to put that gasket on but haven't noticed any change in power. Its a pain to get that turbo out its been out twice (in the 15 years I've had the car)

Man that poor turbo! Starting it with no oil for that long is so bad. Hopefully the bearings are ok. Lucky they are only $1500 and not 4-5k like Garret and Precision😂

6k is a bargain. I have ba xr6t it has phase 3 aps system, full adj pedders but hasnt even done 70k. Dick Johnson signed my dash too. I have mal woods t56 ready to put in, just gotta find the time.
Yeah I guess I got lucky. If you're doing the t56 yourself they are shit to bleed but I have a trick. Hook a line from your brake caliper nipple to your bleed nipple on the t56, open them both and just pump the brake slowly until you see the fluid come into the clutch reservoir. Easiest way.

Was almost in the same situation - was looking at a BA XR6 Turbo up in Perth, said runs and drives. On the day I was going to look at it, seller says needs a tow. Backed out of that deal so fast.
Nice work! I'm doing up a rough BA at the moment too... people say I'm crazy and I should just buy an FG, but I mean give it 10 years and all the FGs will be in the same condition too... thanks for the great video! :)

Buy a camera or iPhone what ever you have stand something that is hight adjustable for video porpoise. In regards to cleaning the under side grab two drive upable car stands. Much easier to get under and are just a good thing to have around saves your back and time fucking around with jack and stands. You and the car have heaps of potential mate keep it up 🤟

@@Ben-bj1oz I was shocked too but explains a lot
I paid $3,000 for one with under 200k kms for a BA XR6T with a XR6 cream leather interior and door cards. It wasn’t running but had only done a fuel pump. Drove 700kms bought it sight unseen towed it home ordered fuel pump and changed out steering column and ignition which had been broken, owner had lost the keys and broke the steering lock to move the car as he had to move house at the time. Defs needs some TLC and good clean up supposedly did 500hp 500kw on the dyno at wheels but I’m not sure if seller was telling me pork pies. But still for $3289 for car and Fpv fuel pump she runs and fired up as soon as key went in and switched ignition over. Bargain.

I paid like 40k for mine (i think🤔), in 2005…. Still have it. Its sits in the shed with the other cars i wont sell 😂. Im a car hoarder lol. Mine is 05 BA XR6T MK2 with built BTR the same colour as yours. This is why i clicked on your vid hahaha.
Yep, mad price
bro i just did this 2days ago in mine. swapped motor at mechanics, and we spent 2hours on the spigot bearing. ended up using a recip saw and our spigot ended up looking exactly like yours. Then i googled another way to do it and saw people doing the bread trick ;( Good price aswell for your xr6. 2years ago i paid 13k for 2005 t56 xr6t. and just doing all the mods i want to do to it now. Also spent 40mins yanking at the 2 old dowel pins for the sandwhich plate because forgot to buy newies lol
@@wardy1337 if it was anything like mine bread wouldn’t have worked haha, bearing pullers are useless as well, the only other thing was a welder and a slide hammer but I didn’t have that. Yeah I think I got lucky, the guy had it up for 9,500 and I just saw the money in spare parts.

Was wondering which is better I’m thinking about getting xr6 or xr8 both 2007 can u please help me decide
@@z7stunna I’m biased I’d always go xr6 prefer the turbo, xr8’s aren’t the best motors to get power out of
Depends what you're looking for... The XR6 Turbo is better for making power and speed but an XR8 is a better cruiser, with that V8 sound...
If you want power get the xr6 turbo if you want an V8 get a holden with the LS motor instead of the xr8

Doesn't matter how much you pay for a Ford from BA and on, they're all low quality rubbish. The AU, according to many owners of various Fords, was the last quality build from Ford Australia, who I think went bust due to their business model of increasing prices while reducing quality...though if course, Ford heirarchy still retain overflowing bank accounts. I'm the unfortunate owner of a BA XR6 ute, bought it at 160thou in 2014 (possily a one owner car, as well looked after), it's now coming up to 270thou. While the Barra donk and diff are excellent, the rest of the car is infected with low quality. Even the Borg Warner 5 speed manual gearbox is crap...and they used to produce quality boxes. Design flaws: - Ignition switch will internally break\wear out (BF also), has to be rebuilt with an aftermarket kit. - Air venting system will fail: A $50 shaft will break at the weak point, but, a mechanic visit will cost you around $1000 to replace it, because they have to remove the seats, center console, drop the steering, then remove dash, THEN spend less than 30 minutes replacing the broken shaft. - For the Utes, the spare tire winch will fail, Ford offers no parts or new winches. If you're lucky and just the wire cable is damaged, you can go to a cable shop and they'll build you a new one for cheap, but if the internal plastic parts are damaged, you're screwed. My spare remains chained in my tub. Just plain dumb: - Alloy gearknob top, burns you in the summer, freezing cold in the winter. - Sports steering wheel hard and slippery. - Red and blue lighting in dash, just horrible. Crap quality: - Disc rotors made of cheap steel, twice they severely buckled after a 15 minute (keeping to speed limits) thrash on a local mountain pass. I now run DBAs. I even know of a sedate driver of an LTD who also has to replace his buckled rotors. Did far more thrashing in my 1996 EF sedan years ago, and never had one rotor buckle. - Rear view mirror night time mode only moves mirror 50%, thus useless at night. Identical issue on our BF wagon. - Electric window mechanisms prematurely worn out. - Idiotic oil-filled engine mounts fail. Apparently Ford heirarchy decided to forgo lengthy testing before mass production. Most folks complain of one mount breaking, Twice I've broken both. I bought a set of rebuildable TorqueMaster race-level solid mounts made by, based on emails, car enthusiasts who like producing quality gear...not that much dearer than the crap oil-filled useless Ford ones. - Bucket seat sides, that are meant to keep driver securely contained - seats are too skinny, plus foam is cheap crap, thus right side collapsed ( leg always resting on it, and I'm a skinny bloke) resulting in sliding into door during left handies. No such problem on my previous XH XR6 that was in much rougher condition. - Paint falling off in various places, not due to exposure or things hitting body, just crap quality painting. - Roof lining near see-through thinness of cloth, and, doesn't fold under foam on edges (like previous models), thus with crap glue, even wind from lowered windows will tear cloth away from foam. Lots of specialised cloth securing pins used on my ute. - On utes - petrol cap door flimsy + cheap ass hinge, similar quality metal and build of a Tonka Truck toy. - The XH XR6 has actual slightly beefed up suspension...on the BA, to make more profit, they chose not to beef anything up, it runs the same low quality soft suspension that's used on standard utes, but with lowering the XR6 a few inches, makes it useless as a sports vehicle or work horse. Had to install HD boosters on the rear leafs to stop it bottoming out after placing a 100-200kg of load, and the front end bottoms out on decent bumpy corners...thus the XR6 has zero sports suspension. Saving up for some Bilstein shocks and HD front springs. That's just some of the main issues. And IMO, it's not just Ford that chose as their business model since the early 2000s, that to make more money, reduce the quality...My 2012 nissan micra ( one owner 60thou) is also a piece of shit in regards to quality, compared to pre 2000 cars I've owned.
