Maybe I can still read it did not try it yet....wanna c what GQ says how to read it properly what chip to select since DS1486 is not in Dallas list. Looks like 1650 might be a success with a new battery hack....DS1486 looks roughed up so far.....Year 94 of battery 1650 still had 3.0.. DS1486 still 2.8 and 3.1 something like that...that's what 30 years??? +/- might have to score DS1486 bin file somewhere in the near future of read is no good.

    4 years old video, but anyway. I see another potential risk with the heatsink spanning the isolation gap. The electrolytic 68µF 400V Loading capacitor has a minimal airgap to the sink. Here in Germany (230AC) the voltage of this cap is around 230V x squrt(2) = 325V DC I´m planning to: A. cut the heatsink to it´s low voltage side dimensions (loss of thermal mass + 1 mounting point) B. Isolation material between Cap and heatsink (with edge trimming for the PCB trace distance)

    I've hooked a sig gen up to this ac voltmeter and a scope - set to about 1KHz at 1V pk-pk. What this shows is a high frequency oscillation added to the sig gen waveform as soon as you connect this voltmeter. I tried a 100nF cap across the output (which would degrade the frequency response) but the oscillation disappeared and the meter read close to what was expected. I need to experiment to see what the minimum capacitance needed to stope this interaction and the effects upon frequency response. However, the leads from the signal generator used are unscreened and this problem may be due to picking up noise from the overhead lighting. Will investigate.....................

    so running a 40a balancer and using a 48v 10.4ah and a 48v 17.5ah battery is not a good idea since they are different ah batteries?

    • @davidhazel36
      @davidhazel36 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I doubt it. I've used a 120v by 120amp dual battery module with multiple batteries and voltages for a while now. I've run a 48v 23.5ah with a 52v30ah battery and never had an issue but that was temporary as I was waiting for my 2nd 52v batt to come in. Now I run two 52v by 30ah shark style batts all the time in every scenario imaginable with zero issues. I have a digital heat gun and check my components quite often and never see them run much above ambient temps besides the controllers of course, they do produce heat under hard use for extended periods. The module was about $118.00 from amzon a year ago. Good luck with your project.

    This unit sells for $45 in 2024 and some of the buyer's reviews note that theyve received units with the wrong (older) firmware, or non-working units that flash error codes. They're probably better off going to Harbor Freight and buying the $45 Schneider soldering station, which I did a review and teardown of on my channel recently. It isn't digital and doesn't look as fancy or high-tech as the Quickoo but uses a 7 pin connector to connect the wand to the station, the tip is reliably grounded, and it uses common T18/900 M tips. The 3 supplied tips ain't the greatest (they're iron and not plated copper) but it's easy and inexpensive to replace them. The cable connecting the wand to the station is a little too stiff for long-term comfort, but it's fine for intermittent hobbyist use; if you're going to use it regularly you can always upgrade it to a more flexible cable (it's easy to disassemble the wand and connector). If somebody is on a low budget, they're probably better off buying the simpler, stodgy, ordinary looking analog product instead of going for the flashy digital bells and whistles. In my review I show the inside of the Schneider station: the control board is clean and well built and the soldering is above average quality for an inexpensive Chinese product. Not to mention that if you buy it from Harbor Freight and you don't like it, or you get a defective one, you can just walk right in and return it and get a refund. I don't normally pay for extended warranties but it might be worth paying the extra 10 bucks for a 3 year warranty and then I think they just give you a new one if the old one dies.

  • @goodun2974
    @goodun2974 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The screw-on connector to the solder station has 4 pins visible, and because you need 2 wires to heat the wand and 2 wires to do the temperature-feedback sensing, you need a fifth connection to ground the tip so that it can't accidentally zap sensitive components with static electricity. You can darn well guarantee that the screw-on metal shell of that connector is making a ground connection to the wand through a fifth wire in the cable, BUT: that type of connector does not have a terminal to reliably attach the ground wire. If it was a coaxial cable, then you could just bend back all of the braid so that it tightens up underneath the clamp assembly, but one skinny ground wire does not make a good reliable connection like that, and yet I have seen numerous examples of Chinese made electronics cables and accessories with a folded-over wire that is just sort of pinched between rubber and metal. I watched somebody else on TH-cam take apart a similar connector on another soldering station and that's exactly how the ground connection to the wand was done, by folding a skinny bare wire back on itself so that it was pinched between the rubber cable jacket and the metal connector. If you're working on sensitive components such as microprocessors and integrated circuits, I would double-check that that tip is reliably grounded.

    In order to remove the face plate: 1. Remove battery pack 2. Remove all of the small screws from the bottom of the player including the 2 screws that are under the rubber feet at the front of the player (pull the rubber pads up and you will find them). Make sure to sort the screws as you take them out by length. 3. Flip the player over and the face plate comes right off It took me awhile to find those last 2 screws as they were well hidden under the foot pads. The rest was pretty easy, just take your time.
