A b20 won't last the same km as a b18cR
@@flokiloki6845 they all explode
Would it be recommended replscing the d16z6 with a complete b18c1/b16a trans ecu harness for 3900
@@joshua7426 yeah I would it’s a big difference
@ambidexstress Alright thanks man. I'd be pulling the d16z6 out of a 1994 del sol, I've never actually swapped a full engine, is there anything special I will need? Had a few folks tell me the 18/16 swap would mostly just drop right in.
@ I’m not 100% sure I forget but I know you’ll need b series axels harness ecu motor mounts shift linkage I think a few more things but that’s what I remember off the top
These arent that good for the money.
@@Salvisol yeah buy a Tesla if you want to go fast
Find me a RHD for $8k and I'll buy it running no shells lol
what’s the build ?😏
Stock trans?
I owned a 90 CRX Si from 96 to 2010. I bought the car with 80K and it left me with 225K. Here are some of the repair and maintenance items not mentioned here. 1. Alternator, distributor and starter problems. I went through 3 or 4 alternators in the time I owned the car. And at least one distributor and one starter. A bad alternator also caused the main fuse to fail on the interstate one night. NOT fun to have your car just die at 75+ on an interstate. 2. Stock brakes are too small for hard driving and tend to retain too much heat under heavy use and warp. If you upgrade your wheel size do yourself a favor and upgrade your brakes as well. 3. Not only can the sunroof leak but the track can get gummed up with debris and grit and cause the sunroof to get stuck or the motor to fail. 4. Don't let any mechanic mess with your manual transmission or tell you it needs to be serviced unless they specialize in Honda transmission repair. the manual transmission uses lubricate that is far lighter viscosity than the majority of transmissions and if the right fluid is not put in it can cause premature transmission wear. 5. Make sure your mechanic let's the engine cool enough before replacing the timing belt. If he doesn't the belt will be loose and it will cause premature failure of the timing belt. 6. Look for signs of oil consumption. If the previous owner hasn't changed the oil on a regular basis it can cause premature failure of the piston rings resulting in blowby and excessive oil consumption. 7. The OEM radiator is made out of plastic and can fail prematurely. Aftermarket metal radiators are available and far more durable. 9. Expect normal Honda paint fade or clear coat peel. 10. These cars were built before ACs used R134 refrigerant and used R12 instead. R12 hasn't been manufactured since the early 90s and is now extremely expensive if it's available at all. Converting your AC system to R134 is expensive and requires replacement of most of the AC system. The car is reliable as hell even with the list above. But the biggest problems is that many of the examples left are beat to shit, heavily modified or both. Engine swaps for this car are extremely common as are suspension modifications. The B16 VTEC is the most common engine swap but the JDM ZC DOHC non VTEC 1.6 (similar but not identical to the first gen Integra engine), various version of the B18 found in the second gen Integra(both VTEC and non VTEC) and even the B17, B20 and rarer engines might be found in a CRX. Some of these swaps are extremely well done and clean. Some of them are garbage. Either way you'd better be able to do your own repair work or have a mechanic lined up that is well versed in working on Honda hybrid engines if you buy a swapped CRX. It's common to see HF and DX cars with engine swaps because they had a lower curb weight than the Si models and were generally not driven as hard by their original owners as the Si models. The JDM ZC non VTEC is a straight swap using all of the same motor mounts which will bolt right up to the original manual transmission found in the SI. The B series engines require transmission swap as well as engine mount modifications. After my original engine snapped it's timing belt on the highway I replaced it with a ZC engine. I couldn't afford the added cost of a B series swap. If you find a US spec Si with the original engine it's rated at 108HP. HP ratings for various common swaps were as follows. JDM DOHC non VTEC ZC was rated approximately 130 HP (the similar engine found in the first gen Integra was 118HP) B16 DOHC VTEC were generally rated at 150-185 HP depending on the exact engine chosen. The most commonly found swaps will be rated at 160HP B18C DOCH VTEC found in the type Integra Type R rated at 197 HP. This swap is generally considered the holy grail of engine swaps for this car. In fact the first front wheel drive car to break the 9 second quarter mile was a B18C powered CRX. The most popular rare option from the factory is power steering. All the US spec version of the car came without power steering because of the cars light weight but some of the Canadian spec cars included power steering and it's my understanding that power steering is an easy retrofit for a car that doesn't have it. Because the car is extremely light it's really only an issue if you plan on doing a lot of parking lot driving because anything faster than that it's not needed and would even been detrimental to the driving experience. Fog lights weren't very common because the cars regular headlights were more than sufficient for most situations. I regularly had people comment on how bright mine were even with out HID or LED bulbs installed. The US spec SI came in 5 colors. The 88-89 cars came in Polar White, Flint Black, Rio Red and Barbados Yellow and the 90-91 cars came in Polar White, Flint Black, Rio Red and Tahitian Green. Mine was Rio Red. There were additional color options on the DX and HF. All Si models sold in the US came with the power sunroom but the HF and DX did not. Barbados Yellow and Tahitian Green were only ever offered as a color choice on the Si trim and not the HF or DX in the US market. The DX trim was the only one that offered an automatic transmission from the factory, the HF and Si were both 5 speed manual only. The Si manual was geared for acceleration the HF was geared for fuel economy. the 88-89 Si trim level cars had rear drum brakes but the 90-91 Si trim models had 4 wheel disk brakes. All of the US spec cars were two seaters, but some other markets had a rear seat (it was practically unusable by anybody other than a toddler). An HF or DX model is about 200 lbs lighter than an Si model primarily because of the sunroof that was exclusive to the Si. The 1989-91 Civic rode on the same platform but with 10 inches added to the wheel base. The US Spec Civic Si used the same powertrain as the US Spec CRX Si and was approximately the same weight (maybe 100-200lbs heavier) but had an actual usable backseat. 90-91 Civic Si models are even more rare today than the CRX is though. This was the second of three Hondas I owned (82 Accord and a 92 Legend were the other two) and of all the cars I ever owned this is the one I miss the most and the one I wish I hadn't had to sell.
Just bought a 1989 hf
Dude hit the g spot on vtec!!!
I just want someone to hype my car up as much as this dude!! Haha. Nasty car, good video.
2.28 hahahahah smiling when the vtec kicks in
Seeing this gets me excited I’m currently swapping in a 96 jdm itr drivetrain into my 95 eg I can’t wait to hit the streets
Expecting a 4th gear pull on the n/a rip @4:51 lol
B18c All Day
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Isn’t the steering 4.2 lock to lock? Come on! So much about this car was brilliant - especially in contrast to today’s cars. Very pure driving experience.
Omg that VTEC crack's hard 🎉😮 much respect bro 🎉
We need you back bro
How is the clutch pressure feel for a daily driver in stop start traffic? - I have no power with the d16y7 but the clutch is light enough that stop start traffic is not to annoying
engine and trans are going up in price. I seen the lowest to be $7K
Yeah this video is 4 years old already outdated on prices lol
i just snagged 91 ef with type r swap lot of goodies
So Rad!
For Delsol try clear marine tape. It should not leave adhesive even after sun and rain exposure and is medium track and the tape is rubber-like.
Wanted to own one since high school. I'm now on my second. It's going to be my keeper.
What’s the serial number under the b18c type r of yours? Am just curious if mine is type r
Hey brother I want ur opinion I'm trying to get this honda crx 1988. I sent you a pm on Instagram
Sick set up. That thing was nasty.
Bro b18c in crx????? Ftw ... You can smoke anyone
It’s fast but it wasent the quickest
@@ambidexstress how about a 2zz celicas are they fast and quickest ?
@@rehanali-hy9tk their probably fast enough to make you happy
those type r cams and tune walking ya boy
Only buy one when your handy and can fixed them yourself. Because car is awsome, but it will eat driving shafts and rust is a big thing. I wrenched a lot on mine. But still love the driving experience in that car!
You did get lucky. It looks in decent condition and that price is right. Was that a Mugen engine cover?
The answer is always yes buy the crx
So the lsd helped out quite a bit would of been closer if he wouldn't have missed gear the type r still would have pulled most likely
What happened to the crx ?
That car is just wild can't wait to build my b18c1 and boost it
Tell him be a man n hook a nitrous kit to that k lol
With the prices today g23’s, b20v’s, and k swaps are better options for the money
I want a 1988 crx si so I can turn my accord into my project car
Bro! 🤌🤌
I'd love to run you in my lsv boosted crx!
That shit was movin without the spray
That car looks fun as hell! Nice build!
Respect for the full interior.
Found a first gen Si in the midwest from an older gentleman . Almost no rust. All stock very good condition. Parts are getting hard to find!
To be technical,theyre both "Crx"😊
So it’s not all motor lmfao
It’s all motor turbo nitrous
Soooooo what happened to the consistency?
Nothing better than a friendly street race
I see you are in a sunny climate my man. The type 2 does almost not excist here anymore. I live in the north of Europe.. They like to rust. You probably heard of this from the eas of the US, salting the roads, rain. And they where made from 1988 last one sold was 1992 (on paper) in the Netherlands. That is pretty old for a car😉. Then again: Try finding a golf mark 2 gti 16v even the Germans have scrapped them out of existence.
Iv a b18c4 engine. How could i make mine like this. Or would it be cheaper to just buy the b18c.
