The main driving force of this channel is sheer passion for Czech classical music. However, back in the beginning I was not familiar with all the moral rules that should apply to this kind of endeavor, such as using material with the consent of its respectable owner. Most of the sheet music used here is public domain or scanned from my own library and consequently authorized by the publisher (Henle, Peters, Bärenreiter); many of the recordings have been authorized by the publisher (i. e. Supraphon) or the rights have been bought (Czech Radio).
Nonetheless, there are also many cases when I failed to reach the owner of the used audio/sheet music. That is especially difficult with old publishing companies which have been bought by new ones. If you are a publisher, I have likely tried making contact with you, but unsuccessfully, so if you would not like your property to be used, please contact me via email and I would be happy to either buy the licenses (preferred) or delete the videos

V. Novák - Piano Trio "Quasi una Ballata", No. 2 Op. 27 (Czech Trio)
มุมมอง 1.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
After the summer of 1900 Novák was going through severe depression, which resulted in neurasthenia and a temporary decrease of his creative powers. The work on his Balladic Trio was a painful process; according to composer's own words, many of his old scars surfaced and bled anew, and he regards the piece as full of Baudelairesque pessimism. However, in spite of all of his personal suffering, d...
B. Smetana - Louisa's Polka, JB 1:1 (Řepková)
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
As the 16 year old Smetana was beginning to get interested in women, he composed a couple of early polkas, each with a dedication. This particular one is dedicated to his cousin Louisa, with whom he was platonically in love and whom he admired as a singer. While he had no formal training in composition at the time, he made no edits to the piece later in life (as he occasionally did with other s...

0:00 - 1. Andante maestoso. Allegro con moto 10:18 - 2. Andante con moto 15:33 - 3. Allegro Nedbal composed his Violin Sonata when he was only 20 years old after a European tour with the Czech Quartet. At the end of June he enclosed it to an application form in order to get a scholarship from the Czech Academy. This piece marks the beginning of Nedbal's more focused work. Of all Nedbal's chambe...
B. Smetana - Ballvision, a Ball Scene in Polka Form, JB 1:71 (Řepková)
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Smetana composed Ballvision in Sweden as a result of reconsidering his earlier Polka in C major. The entire Lisztian introduction was added, as well as some minor tweaks to the polka itself. At 0:41 a musical cryptogram F-E-D-A is introduced, later appearing in middle voices in the polka. It commemorates Smetana's friendship with Fröjda Benecke, who impressed the composer at a ball not too long...
V. Novák - Pan, a Poem in Tones, Op. 43 (Maxián)

0:00 - Prologue 7:46 - Mountains 16:32 - Sea 25:40 - Forest 37:57 - Woman Novák has gifted himself with this gargantuan cycle for his 40th birthday in 1910 and the work was premiered shortly after by Václav Štěpán, an extraordinary musical figure of the early 20th century. However, perhaps Štěpán was not a pianist par excellence and Novák was disappointed by the premiere. Already while composin...
F. Schubert-B. Smetana - Der Neugierige, Op. 10 No. 2 (Řepková)
มุมมอง 1.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Like many of Smetana's virtuoso compositions, the transcription of Schubert's song Der Neugierige was composed during the composer's stay in Sweden. Apart from this one he has also arranged another song from Die schöne Müllerin, Trockne Blumen, which is now unfortunately missing. It is immediately apparent that in comparison with Liszt's faithful transcriptions, this is much more of a concert p...

0:00 - Allegro moderato 4:13 - Molto tranquillo 7:33 - Allegro moderato grotesco In 1923 Schulhoff has made his return back to Prague, where he later became a professor at the conservatory. The first piano sonata (1924) is a unique mixture of the classical genres, jazz and dance rhythms, but at the same time aiming at an expressive simplicity and smaller emphasis on rhythmicity compared to his ...

0:00 - 1. Triste 3:28 - 2. Inquieto 10:05 - 3. Amoroso By the time Novák entered the piano class of Josef Jiránek at the age of 22, he had already finished his studies of composition with Dvořák. It is however documented ...

Could you send me the two-piano score? I haven’t been able to find it anywhere :(
Year of recording probably 1972.
I am reading "War and Peace" by Tolstoy and this song is referenced as emanating from the clavichord of a Napoleonic war era Russian household. So incredible to hear and be transported to another century in imagination! Truly a gifted pianist.
2:38 sounds very modern, like Enaudi
this is for my by far the best rendition of this splendid sonata.
Maravilla. Marvelous. wonder,
💗💗💗
Très beau morceau. Et très virtuose. Je me demande si Ivan Klansky est reconnu de sa juste valeur. Son jeu est super!
nice playing bro
In fact I always find it strange when people ignore the fact that Beethoven actually published his three Kurfürsten sonatas in 1783, making them publically available. You are right that the first numbered sonatas are a few years later than Dusseks op. 10, but the first published sonatas where much earlier. This work outshines the first sonatas from 1783 in great style however. It is clear when diving in to Dussek that he too had a language of his own.
You are right, thank you for pointing it out.
Absolutely stunning composition. Where may I obtain the sheet music, please?

Hello, do you know of a recording of Novak's early g minor piano trio, the one used as sample on the website of edition silvertrust? I can't find any info or source about that recording
Que puta mierda que te estén cague y cague el palo con anuncios
This just pure perfection!
Je suis heureux!
the first movement sounds very shubertian to me
As much as I have always admired Rubinstein: Like many of the great solo pianists, he lacks the discipline to blend smoothly into a chamber music ensemble. His timing so often differs slightly from that of the quartet, and his sound sometimes seems to aim at projecting over an orchestra, which is quite out of place here.
Magnífica.
Excelente pianista!!!
Bravissimo Maestro ❤
What’s a dumky
Why did he call them “Humoresques”? These are no joke.
4:28 Beethoven 9th?
Thank you! (っ◕‿◕)っ ♥
Completely over-produce. It has no life.

Pure and Transcendental Beauty! Bravo 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 ❤!
Mozart having a bad day!
love it
I'm a great admirer of Suk's music but it seems to me this is not his best set. Having said that, it's pretty precocious writing for such a young composer, and he can be forgiven for trying a little too hard to emulate Smetana and Liszt.
metronomes are the death of classical music
2nd movement sounds just like Alkan, who was himself one of the most forward-thinking romantic composers. Absolutely crazy how advanced this is for the 1820s
❤

New discovery for me; incredible piece! Dvorak sure could write chamber
Fantastic!!! 👏👏👏👏❤️
I played Number One as a cellist, and that was *really* fun.
The final few chords of "In the Old Castle" are simply one of the most serene and beautiful I have ever experienced. It's so slender, so delicate but played so expertly and given the time it needs to fully fade. The sequences with the 64th-notes are also a true joy to listen to. Thank you so much for making this available to the public.
