Religion in Albania from 0 to 2023 AD
Albania is a country in Balkans (South-Eastern Europe). Originally Albania was a pagan country following folk traditions with minor Jewish minority. Christianity arrived in Albania around 49 CE because of St. Paul. During Roman period the Albanians converted to Christianity completely by 5th century. However between 7th and 9th century the indigenous faith saw a rise because of loss of control of the Church over Albania. Later the Byzantine missionaries re-strengthened Christianity in Albania. In the 6th century man Slavic people had migrated to Albania mixing their culture with the natives. Islam arrived in Albania during Ottoman Turk conquest in early 15th century, imposing their culture on many people. Albanian Christians lead by Skanderbeg, an ex-Muslim himself liberated Albania temporarily but within a few decades Albania came under Ottoman rule again. Albania was Islamized, most of the Muslims being of Sunni and Bektashi denominations. Jews initially thrived in Urban Albania but after 1571 because of a war Jewish population declined slightly. Later some Exiled Jews from Turkey also settled in Albania. In the Balkan wars and WW1 many Albanians were killed. During the second world war, Albania being not Anti-Jewish, attrracted many Jewish refugees to Albania, seeing a massive surge in Jewish population. However most of them left for Israel after the war ended and Albania was established as a Communist state. Albanian Communist government banned all religions enforcing state atheism on people. Albanian Jews were isolated from other Jews during Communist era. However after the fall of Communism in 1991, most of them migrated to Israel and USA for economic reasons. After 1991 most people even reverted to their previous faiths. Today Albania's population is declining with 58% people being Muslims, 25% being unaffiliated and 17% being Christians- both Catholic and Orthodox in roughly equal proportion. The Albanian folk religion has also survived to the modern age but the number of it's followers is handful and negligible.

The data that can show Pakistan and Bangladesh as separate countries since the beginning, is obviously not trustworthy.
