Were you able to get it registered?
I bought a car from the auction. The title states it is salvaged, but the car has no physical damage. Will they inspect my car even though I don't have proof of what was repaired?
I need to replace my original wireless charging pad on my 2016 yukon xl denali center console to accommodate larger iPhone 16 pro max. Will this work or do I need to purchase a different one?
By chance do you have a part number for that master cylinder looking for one same year
I agree having owned mine for six years. Use a launch scanner to do an adaptation on the ABC and it resets the levels properly. Carefully adjust the fluid levels up and down and life is good!
Would it not have been more effective to do this video at night to show the difference between before and after with headlights and all?
Where do you put jackstands when working on/ removing the rear wheel?
There's a rubber mount protruding next to the tire. You'll have to reach for it to feel it
Did they ask for the receipts of the purchased parts. If so what happens if you show most of them but weren't able to get one because the individual you bought it from didn't have the car any more
Mercedes Roof Hydraulic Latch
What does PSE stand for?
Your videos are great! I have the exact car. I had the master cylinder replaced, (but I am leaking fluid somewhere, but its not making it to the garage floor) I have to add fluid to the pump, When I watched your video were you bleeding the lines with the syringe? I think that I may have air in mine but thought maybe I could bleed the air out? Is that possible with so many lines?
Lol! Thx! 😉 👍
Any updates on how it has held up? Looking at the same repair on my 03…
In my quest to bring "my 2003 SL500" back to it's original glory, I have repaired many issues and am watching your awesomely crafted video with expectations that this too, will eventually be an issue as well. I went through rebuilding the 8 or so actuators on my 1995 SL320 already and I'm very familiar with the Benz boggles. Your video is one the best I've watched to date, thanks very much !
Get a mighty vac 8 liter extractor, and you can change the oil from the top in less than 15 minutes...you will have nothing to do under the car....also get a large heavy duty cooking sheet and use it laid on the motor for the filter and other items while changing it...these cars are fun to keep going, the junkyard is your friend, you have a good attitude...keep the videos coming. Thanks
Did georgia pass the inspection with the bumper bent i never found out if it passed
I just did this. I have the exact car. Drilling the hole is easy since aluminum is soft metal. Go slow and low enough for your drill to actually nick the white disc. Then I got midsized Channelocks and a Torx short bit that just fits in my new hole I just drilled. I drilled the hole close to the gap in the clip but NOT in the gap. It takes patients and a lot of coordination to slowly squeeze the bit in. It should just push the edge of the C-clip out to get a small screwdriver under it. In my case, and this is why I said to drill as low as you can just touching the white disc with your bit. When I pressed the bit into the hole it pushed the clip out and popped UNDER the clip, then the clip just lifted out. The ram with the o-rings with some authority will come out. Get a bright light and carefully check the bore for any damage like nicks or pitting etc. I think I'm going to leave the headliner off for a few days to make sure there are no more leaks.
Not returning this beautiful car to its former glory 👎
Great videos. I absolutely love the paint on this car. It’s like a silver with a slight light blue. Gorgeous!!
If any one can help me I wanna change oil of my sl class 2003 3,7 v6 have to put inside 8 litres or 7.9 litres oil ?Coz I didn’t get it ? Thanks
That's a hydraulic fluid from your top
You have to drill a 3mm hole where the locking c ring is and flip it out. Thats missing in this video but its very easy to do
Have the same one for a year now the abc is on now. It's pancaked while driving scaaarrrryyyyy. Boy.
Have a similar tick and its probably lifters but we found a peice of manfold broke where it meets the exhaust Edit: we are missing the anti knock sensor on the rear of engine. We think its a maybe as well. They dont make them anymore.
Thanks for the advise. Sorry to hear about the missing knock sensor. I'm going to pull the valve covers off and adjust the lifters. Never done it before so it should be a treat.
como purgas el aire del sistema o como liberas el aire del sistema hidrahulico del techo?
If you went a Mercedes specialist in the UK you would get charged for a new pipe and drain if not a valve block.
What we need to see is how to remove that clip and how to fill the hydraulic motor. Those things you are not showing in your video
The rippling is possibly from a hydraulic leak from the top windshield locks you can rebuild the cylinder don't buy another one
No improve at all best thing is to get headlights lens is best solution, that’s is what I did
8:11 exhaust manifold?
Perhaps... how do you test for a leaking exhaust manifold?
Was there a significant difference in the before and after?
I did the fuel filter a few days before the rest of it and that made a bit of a difference. Otherwise, no, not really.
Your front hydraulic cylinder is leaking for top. When oil gets to low it will stop working altogether. There are good videos on you tube to show you how to replace it or repair it which is what I did. I ordered the O-ring and it came in and I replaced it with a little instruction from TH-cam. Don’t worry about the ripple in your rubber there that will go away once the oil stops leaking, it happened to me. I thought I had to replace rubber but I didn’t. It went back to normal.
If you are complaining about the price you bought the wrong car. SRS light is winking at you.
What was the material you cut for the side replacement?
Looks like plywood
It was plywood.
Like the new bumper! When are you going to show us it in motion?
Soon!!! Got to get the engine tuned right...
I had a panelshop repaint the C-pillar trim. Done in matt as they struggled to get it in gloss on plastic, but looks fantastic.
I am a firm believer that when someone decides to convert these cars to conventional suspension the car looses so much value. I love the R230!
Gangsta
Good luck!!!! Hope all goes well
Appreciate the support!
@@pile-o-projectshow did you pass it without a rebuilder license?
Good luck in GA with the salvage title. I hear it’s one of the worst states to get a passing inspection.
Yeah, I am figuring that out! Thanks!
Great video. I have a 04 SL500 that has an heater issue. it only blows heat on the drivers side the passenger side is always cold air. Any idea how to fix this?
Not sure how to fix it, but it may be the blend door actuator.
Thank you for this video. I have 05 SL and my left front corner is sagging if left for about a week. I didn't see any puddles of oil though. I need to inspect it soon. But I'm on the fence if I need to keep ABC in the long run. Folks swap it with coilovers and enjoy it. Like someone wrote in the comments below - you never know if you make it from A to B or if come to your garage tomorrow only to find out car is sagging. I know preventive maintenance is the key but when major components like struts start to fail then the price isn't cheap. Arnott front left ABC strut currently costs $800 at FCP Euro + $300 for core deposite. Regarding core charge they say this: "The customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping". According to USPS shipping 31 lbs in 30x8x8 box from me to their address in CT would cost about $86. So if we add tax then the front strut is over $900. The rear one costs the same. Plus when replacing the strut I guess I'll have to add some fluid. So assuming you may spend about $1000 per year on ABC, then getting coilovers doesn't look bad. Folks swap it and enjoy it...
Are you going to replace the drums? They look really crusty!
Yes, the brakes will get an overhaul with new brake cylinders and possibly new calipers. I will include new drums too.
Where is oil level check?
you dont have to take the nut off people. you can also unscrew the other end that he did not so you dont have to stretchthe seal. These are virtuaklly the same as any hydraulic cylinder including heavy equipment. PAY ATTENTION ALL YOU HATERS
Nice video and well detailed. I’ve watched other videos where they drill the cylinder..your way was better. Do you find this method better?
my R230 roof just failed, dripping fluid on one side. I took it to the 'stealership' and they quoted me $15k to repair. Replace all the hoses, cylinders and pumps. Interesting to know it may just be a simple O-ring.
What parts do i need to order ? Have the same issue with leaking hydraulic fluid on both sides..
Part number for rubber O ring ?
I’m enjoying your videos working on your SL, but I see the latest one is seven months old. Are you going to do any more?
I just bought a base SL500- '05- in slightly better condition - planning on doing my own Fluid changes- Thanks for the vid, and thank you to the excellent comments below- 👍
