FE Civil Exam advice and tips
มุมมอง 29K8 ปีที่แล้ว
My thoughts and advice on the fundamentals of engineering civil exam . I recently took and passed the exam and this is my way of trying to contribute to the online community that helped me prepare.
Thx. Im taking it again for the second time in a couple hours
Great! Thank you so much! is there anyone who likes to share the Seismic review course with me? Thank you so much!
You mentioned that the Mansour book didn't have all the definitions noted in it. Is there another book that could supplement the definitions piece of the puzzle? I have lots of engineering experience in structural, took a survey class in college, but haven't touched a traverse or "stick" since 1999. LOL!
Thanks for this advice man!
Dude really great videos!!! Very helpful. I passed my Fe 5 months ago and am trying to figure out all the best study resources so thanks!
Great rundown…straight thru. Last tidbits were “Gold nuggets” IMHO
Great Information thanks!!
5:08 Definitely keep a look out for Taylor's method of slope stability. I had no idea about that on a practice test and did a seat of pants method (yet got the problem right). Still, it would be way easier to have used the table for getting the maximum height for a stable slope without failure.
I appreciate the sincerity in your advice. I have an exam in 3 weeks, and you just lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. Thank you!
lmaoo is yours tomorrow too?
Nice shirt. LOL
Can I have the exam online?
What did you use to prepare for the AM part?
Thanks so much for the advice!
I just got my pe civil exam reference ppi manual and I am really confused. The topics don’t really match the ncees ones. There is a huge environmental section! Should I ignore these?
Thank you so much for the content and your advice. I passed my PE Civil Exam at the first first attempt in the OCT 2020 exam but was surprised when I got to know I still need to pass (2) more exams for getting the PE license in CA. How much time in weeks or months do you think an average engineer needs to pass these (2) exams?
I only have 8 hours to prepare for civil FE, thanks for your advice!
Who tf dislike a golden content like this. Thanks alot man!!!
Recommendations on Practice Practice Practice cannot be said enough...Thank you for sharing your thoughts....TTK
Can you suggest me a youtube channel where I can get civil engineering lecture for FE exam?
Can’t thank you enough, I took you advices on Seismic exam and were very helpful and accurate as well. Than you
I had no idea James Franco was going for the FE Civil.
Lol wut??
Thanks. Looking forward to next PE exam of 2020.
Thank you Mr. Snowden
Order of the engineer.
I recently took my PE Civil Structural Exam, basically no experience with structural codes other than college, only got to study about 8 hours total, and this was the main video I used to guide my study time. Passed it first try. Thank you so much for this video, it helped me a lot, perfect guide for the breadth section.
What did you study for the breadth section. Too many refrences I cant study all of em
@@amidaa928 the breadth section is pretty much word for word from the PE reference manual. During the breadth portion of the exam my head was in the reference manual the whole time. I wouldn’t say I knew all the topics, but I knew where to find them in the manual, which is key, and that is the test taking strategy I feel is best to structure your studying around. Along these same lines, being able to identify key words for use in conjunction with the reference manual index is a skill that will make the breadth section a breeze. It’s a breadth section, you should have a breadth of knowledge on everything. If you try to get too in depth with any few topics, you are wasting space in your brain and time you have to study essentially. It’s better to have a smaller wrinkly brain than a massive smooth brain. AKA study smarter not harder.
Thanks my friend for the video. I am taking PE geotech in APril 2020 and I am having hard time with Structure morning exam. I took a course and they didnot really go into detail in course.I tried 6 minute book and CERM practice questions and they seem a lot harder for me. Were the questions in Structure Morning portions too much concept based /lengthy or were they toward simple formula/calculation or chart based with few steps computation. Please guide me , thanks.
I'm schedule take the Mechnical Engineering FE exam on September 5th 2019.
Hey do you have any material to practice you can send me?
Took the test yesterday. I totally agreed what you said not to hesitate to skip problems your not sure. I ended up still having more than an hour when I finished all questions I knew. (with about 15 flagged problems left)
Hey thanks for your videos, they are very helpful. I just passed the FE exam and am starting to prepare for the PE Civil Structural exam. As you recommended I purchased the CERM, NCEES Practice Exam, and the 6 min Structural Problems. The issue I'm having now is the huge list of references that are required. I am a fellow Canadian and am wondering how I can avoid spending $$$ on all the references. Can you help a brother out?? Do if for the Raptors!!! :):) Thanks man.
I found many of them online but even printing them is catastrophically expensive.
Thank you man, just started the prep
Per previous commenter, I would need to study/do practice problems extensively...thank you for tips on PE
Thanks for taking the time to do this..Very helpful!
Thanks for doing this video. I just purchased Hiner..What reference do you recommend for the Survey exam?
Good video...
I couldn't understand what you said for Slope Stability. Can you repeat? Thanks
So I have a questions for you. I have a Civil Degree with an emphasis in Surveying, but really only took the basic 4-5 structural analysis classes for the degree. I'm confident I could pass the survey test no problem, but know I will fail seismic without putting a ton of studying in. With that said, is the book you recommend capable of teaching me what I need to know if I haven't actually taken a seismic class?
Thank you for the advice. I passed and will be sitting for the PE in October
Isn't PE after 4 years?
@@Tobee_Longwood PE requires 4 years of experience, or 3 years if you have a master's. You can take the PE right after the FE if you pass it. Good luck!
how long do i need to wait to take PE exam after FE exam?
Ryan Shi You are eligible the day you graduate. You may not take the exam if you’re are still a student. I’m graduating this May and plan to take the exam in October. Good luck.
Therefore, if you’re out of school with a FE. you do not need to wait for the 8 hour exam
好视频,谢谢!
Thanks, Can I buy your FE manual You can contact me on Eng. Mohammed. Alahmari@gmail.com
Ola
What was your major topic for the second part? I’m assuming geotechnical
Hey Darth Vader: How do I get a copy of Dr. Mansour's Practice Exams or Reference Manuel ? Please help
Did you take your PE yet?
Wondering if I could ask you a few detailed questions about the study strategies? I'd DM you but seems like youtube removed that option. My questions are mostly on how to best utilize the PPI book, since reading 1600 pages doesn't seem like the smartest use of time. rebeccayooo @ gmail Thanks a bunch!
hello All, i plan take the civil pe exam structural. any people know what book i need to buy for the exam, Thanks so much
What kind of material have you used for Pe exam?!
I Like your summary , its very useful and concentrated , Thanks
very nice summary of breath topics, btw, it seems that trusses was missed from the structural part.
Thanks for sharing your experience and tips!
