Project Scramble - Sweeping Hills Farm
"As long as I can remember, this has been home. My mother used to tell me that it had been passed down from her father, and his father's father before him. And now, it's mine.
I think I like it here. It feels like home. Hills adorned with sheets of wheat that blanket for as far as my eyes can take me.
Sometimes I wonder if this is really where I belong. But when I look out the dusty attic window and see those hills, I feel at peace. It doesn't matter if I can't speak to it - this farm knows how I feel, and it's just as quiet as I am."
Hello all! I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! This year has been a tough one, but I finished strong! I can now say I'm a college graduate twice! I think big things are gonna happen next year, and I can't wait to see what happens. Thank you for sticking with me along the way :)
As for Project Scramble, this is a passion project spearheaded by me and @flamingwaffels . The main character is the titular Scramble, who lives on a small, quaint farm in the Farkittlands which floats quietly above the land of ShroudVeil. One night, when a certain legendary relic in the shape of a bell suddenly crash lands on his farm, everything changes as he is accused of stealing it and now must scramble away from everything he knows and loves. This is the theme of his beloved farm in which he calls home.
We created a very small demo of a game back in early 2021, and ever since, we have been slowly but surely coming up with the framework for a mascot platformer that will one day exist. We are not programmers, and life is very time consuming, so for now all we have for the game are pieces of concept art, the skeleton of the story, and the beginnings of the OST that you're listening to right now! And of course, we have plenty of cool things that we want to see realized in the game, but we have to wait until production truly begins. However, this isn't the only thing we have cooking for this world and its characters that actually might come into existence in the near future, but that will be for another time ;)
Anyways, this description is way too long, so I'll wrap it up here. But I just want to say, I genuinely hope you had a great year, and I hope you have a fantastic start to 2025! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to this. I know since it's an original, it's a tougher sell, but I really, really hope you enjoy.

Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story - Toad Town Remix
มุมมอง 474หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello all! It would seem that my wish was granted and the Mario & Luigi series is FINALLY getting another entry, this time on Switch. At the time of upload, Mario & Luigi Brothership is just under a week from releasing, and I cannot begin to explain how ready I am to play it. So, to celebrate that, I decided to take my shot at remixing something else from the series, and this time I landed on T...

Hello all! I'm back a little early from my next hibernation with something special, at least to me. I've wanted to make this remix for many years now, but I didn't want to try because I wanted it to sound as close to how I imagined it in my head as possible. Well, now, many years later and with more experience with making music, I think I have finally been able to to just that! I've always thou...

Hello all! I am indeed alive and back with another remix (for once lol). I had actually made part of this for a mega-collaboration with @AvoCadoTunes back in April. Which, by the way, go check out if you haven't already! It's an awesome thing that me and 16 other musicians worked real hard on. Link's below! In terms of this upload, I finished the whole track for an upcoming Megamix collaboratio...

Hello all! I'm back with yet another Rainbow Road remix. At this rate, I might get to them all eventually haha. Been having a bunch of free time lately so I thought I would try my hand at this underrated gem. I took some creative liberties as well, such as speeding it up as a whole, as well as completely redoing the "reference" section of this piece (at least as I like to call it) with another ...

Hello all! Back extremely soon, I know. I made a little something original for once and I wanted to share it with you all! If I end up hating how it sounds a week later, I'll probably unlist the video, make the changes that I deem fit and then reupload it. Nothing really else to say, other than I hope you all enjoy! Hello all! It's been a minute, but we're back with another chill track, this time taking place in the good region of Hoenn. Truth be told, I have not played Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald yet, nor have I played the remakes, but that will change hopefully soon because I have the remakes and am dying to play them. I have heard a bit of the music from this generation and wow is there a lot of good stu...

Like the casual yet energetic vibes. Good stuffs an if it was in a platformer it's be a perfect fit
why is there a comically large spoon

JUNIPER I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNN Song is legit btw. Seeing this thing develop has been awesome and I genuinely love the effort you put into it. And hearing the new additions since the last time I heard it are awesome. Actual goosebumps. This sounds so epic. Can't wait to bring this to life with you one day.
So good!
Sounds like something from Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga
Oh man I loved this game as a kid!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I recognise the new reference part, but I can't quite remember where it's from
Yooo this is tight!!! I kinda wish the original soundtrack had this fast BPM to begin with; it fits the Mario Kart vibe! Nice work! 🙌
Thanks Player2!! I appreciate the kind words ^^
Bland, this is so great! When I got the notification for your new Rainbow Road remix, I knew I had to check it out right away! You have an amazing penchant for making powerful and memorable RR remixes, and honestly, it'd be really cool to see you take it all the way and cover all of them over time! 😁 But I'm getting ahead of myself... This Rainbow Road in particular hits on an emotional level quite strongly, and I agree that it's definitely one of the more underrated ones. You really amplified the uplifting and majestic feeling of this piece with the bright instrumentation, lively rhythms, and robust arrangement. Speaking of which... wow, you weren't kidding when you mentioned completely re-vamping the reference segment! Sadly, I couldn't for the life of me figure out what melody you incorporated at 0:58, and I'm not kidding when I say that I went and looked into the entire OST for Mario Kart 7 and both Galaxy games... no dice. 😓 However! I love that you incorporated a subtle countermelody of Good Egg Galaxy at 1:10 with your signature whistle sound - that was really cool, and it feels so thematic for your channel. And the transition into and out of that reference segment was so seamless, it feels like it's part of the original track! 💫 As I mentioned before, the instrument choices here are spot-on. I love the layering you've done with the leads, combining that sustained saw texture with the light and playful chimes - and the phasing effect creates a nice kind of "wweeeoooowww" sound that I often associate with celestial levels in Mario games. I know it's not the most eloquent way of explaining it, but sometimes I need to type out weird sound effects to convey my thoughts. 😅 And as brilliant as the melody parts are, the supporting parts are what _really_ make this piece shine! They're not loud in the mix, precisely because they don't have to be - the unique sounds are so distinct, and they're allowed their own space in the EQ spectrum, so there's no competition with the leads for people's attention. I really admire your ability to do so much with each part, and it feels like no sounds are wasted in your arrangements and instrumentations. That bit-crushed rhythmic pluck in particular is a cool new sound, and it has great synergy with the other parts! Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the percussive elements, as well; I like this driving beat with the strong kick and snare samples, and the assortment of drum fills you use really keeps things varied and exciting! Ah man, I'm stoked to see the color change in the peak reactor effect, and the rainbow gradient is a perfect fit for this piece! Just that one detail alone adds a lot, and I hope to see more dynamic effects like that in future videos, too! Ooh, and I see you, starting and ending with the titular plumber's signature color - nice way to bring things full-circle, especially with that charming ending in the music. 🌈 It's awesome to see you so actively posting on your channel this summer, and it's great to hear that you've had some extra free time lately! Not gonna lie, I miss seeing you around on people's channels, but I totally get that life has been real busy this past year. Hope you're doing well, my friend, and as always, I'm looking forward to more of your remixes and originals! 🌟
Hey EQ! First, thank you so much for the kind words about my RR remixes, it makes me very glad to hear that they are worth remembering. Honestly, the thought of doing all of the other RR's is a daunting one, but I think it could be fun to do them all eventually! As for the instruments, I would be lying if I said I didn't have help from a new tool, that being the instrument bank Omnisphere. It provided a lot of cool sounds that I used in this track and I am really impressed with it. In addition to the use of Serum, I'm very happy with the instruments I chose for this, and I'm very glad that they seemed to mesh well with each other. For the reference section, the song I used is credited to a one Sky Station Galaxy from Galaxy 2! I find that it is often overshadowed by its big brother Good Egg Galaxy, and the previous RR from MKWii used a Galaxy 1 reference, so with a bit of tweaking I found it sounded really good. Why I chose to replace the MK64 RR section is because I wanted to make this rendition of RR stand out more instead of the one people remember as having "that one MK64 RR part of the song". I really like this game and this RR, so I wanted to do my best to give it it's own identity. The Good Egg Galaxy countermelody almost didn't make it in the final cut, but I thought it would be a nice addition since Sky Station Galaxy and Good Egg Galaxy are structured so similarly. In regard to specific instruments, thanks for the compliments about the leads! I actually completely understand where you're coming from when it comes to the phaser sound effect. When finding sounds, I think of them as the same way and I wish people included the spelling of certain sounds so it's easier to find them haha. I'm really happy to hear that the supporting instruments fit nicely into the mix! I don't know if I've said this before, so apologies if I have, but when making these tracks I try to make them sound as full as possible when appropriate, so to hear that they all work well with each other makes me relieved to hear that! I often worry if I end up overcrowding the sound with too many things to look out for, so it's a nice thing to hear. By the way, the pluck that your heard is from the pluck section of Serum! I always liked it but I never felt like it would've fit so I'm glad I got to use it in this one and that it sounds so well with the other instruments. I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed the peak effect! I couldn't decide on what color to use and then I remembered "wait it's Rainbow Road" and I ended up just cycling through them all during the track. I would be open to implement more visual effects in the future. That's really cool how you noticed that I started and ended with red! I did it on purpose, but I never expected anyone to notice that detail. Thanks for that! To be honest, this summer has been one of the weirdest ones for me I must say. In the short time between semesters I hope to be more vocal in the VGR scape. Overall, I'm doing well though, and I hope you are doing well as well! It's always great to hear from you friend. See you soon! :D
@@blandwhitecube Hey, Bland, thanks so much for the detailed and gracious reply! I really appreciate that you take the time to respond at length, and with such enthusiasm. ^_^ That's awesome to hear that you've added Omnisphere to your VST library! I always hear good things about that one, and it looks like you've really been making great use of it. And thanks for explaining the sources of the different sounds used here! I always enjoy learning about the different VSTs, instruments, and effects that people use to achieve the sounds in their remixes. Ah man, so it was Sky Station Galaxy! Well, after going back and listening to that one, it's clear as day - 20/20 hindsight, of course. But wow, what a great choice to reference, and I agree that while its been living in Good Egg's shadow, it's very much a stellar piece in its own right. Seeing you honor it in such a way here warms my VGM-reference-loving heart! And yes, this summer has been great so far, thanks! The break from work has unlocked a lot more time to work on remixes, so that alone just about does it for me. 😁 Thanks again for the wonderful response, and I hope to see you soon!!

Oh my goodness gracious I started to miss you and your music (idk how I missed your last upload tho)
Breathing space is really calming and quiet, I love it! Velvet clouds sounds like something that would be in ROR or something like that, it just needs more build up to the good part. Comically large spoon sounds really nice and I love the 8/16 bit theme, and is like action but also calming. Feline Fine is really nice and sounds like something that would be playing in a café setting. Overall, Incredible, and happy late new year!
Holy cow this is incredible, and calming yet brings life to the room, and the buzzing in the background really adds to the life of the song. Well done Bland, You are a very talented person and I can't wait for more from you.

"Sleep can wait" ~ a BlandWhiteCube fan My man, you've once again managed to give me a second wind and a complete resurgence of energy when I was struggling to stay awake. This came out of absolutely _nowhere_ and I had to legit refresh my Subscriptions page when I saw this. Your Mario & Luigi remixes don't miss, and your In the Final rendition is still one of my most listened to remixes, period. It looks like this cover of the Antasma Final Battle is going to quickly join their ranks! It feels like with each new remix, you're introducing new elements while retaining your core sound style, which is an ideal way to go about it, really. I love the use of Amen breaks and hard D&B riffs here, and they fit like a glove, despite using a different genre of percussive sounds. Honestly, it's inspired me to want to try the same, and you've used them to great effect here. In particular, I like the one at 1:37, how it filters in, making for an excellent tension-builder. Your transitional work here is super tight, and I like the frequent and varied use of risers and various noise sweeps. Your use of them is unique, I'd say, in that they feel like a core part of your sound style, and I love the airy texture they add to the music! The melodic elements in this piece are so a propos for this theme, and just really nice to listen to in general. I'm not entirely sure what instrument is used for the lead melody - at first, it sounded kind of reedy to me, but now I'm thinking a sustained string, like a fiddle? And I'm just now realizing that there's a subtle, higher-octave orchestral string paired with it, too - fantastic! Those choral synths in the peripherals sound amazing, as well, and give the piece a real sense of finality. And I can't forget those iconic orchestral hits - despite being a truly unwieldy instrument, you've used them to great effect here - especially at 1:41... and followed by the "confirm" sound effect? - come on, that's just too good! Now, I want to talk about my favorite segment in particular. The one beginning at 1:21 (with that sick lead in at 1:20) is just pure ear candy, and though I wish it was longer, maybe it's the limited usage that makes it even better and makes me crave more. And not to discount the rest of the song, because the whole thing is so dang tight, but the use of that portamento instrument (a bit like a slidey sine wave, with hardly any attack transient) and especially the rhythmic chiptune part with those flourishes at the end of each phrase just really gets me. That section is just so quintessentially BLAND. I know I've referenced that before, but I'll continue to, because you've developed such a unique and recognizable style that I'm hugely fond of. If I was a madder man, I'd continue to rave about this incredible surprise late-night drop, but it seems Antasma is getting the best of me, after all... 😅 Once again, absolutely stellar work, my friend, and it is so good to see new remix from you, and to know that you're doing well. Here's to a breakthrough year in 2023! 🌟
Hey EQ! Apologies for striking once again in the dead of night, I am a creature of habit haha. That means a lot to me that one of my old mixes is still regarded highly, and that this one is just as good! The big thing that I wanted to do with this mix was that segment in particular. Call it another old habit, but I thought a breakdown segment smack dab in the middle would really fit the piece, so in it went! Thanks for the kind words about the use of the breaks, I really like them in general and I thought it would be a good addition to bring the piece back up to speed from the breakdown. I'm also happy to hear the transitions worked out, as I had hoped they wouldn't be too repetitive. Since the original piece called for a violin, I wanted to pay respect to that and used a violin instrument from a GBA soundfont. To be completely honest, I wish I had a better violin instrument, but this one was the one I thought worked out the most. That's why I did pair it with some other orchestral strings to make it sound a little better. My favorite part to make was that transition part at 1:41. I just really like when songs do that sort of thing so I used one in my mix just because. I'm also really glad the "confirm" sound effect was a success! Thank you so much for the support on the tracks, it really means a lot to hear the extensive feedback you take the time to write. I'm grateful to have a recognizable style, and to have people enjoy it as well. It's always great to hear from you, and I agree, here's to a breakthrough year in 2023! :D Hope to see you soon again, friend!
