As a newer cox for wp what are some good calls to always remember if I run out of words?

these girls need to go watch the shell VIII 1936 summer olypmics, mens . . they wrote the book on how to come back down 2 lengths, only lane with a head wind, (after Q 1st?) sick bow with chest flu, everything against them, they come back and take em down by almost a full length... truly a sight to see. . . that race IS the blueprint for digging in and leaving it all in your lane... watch?v=JYWCNPq3-Vg

I was expecting a Pair of Crossed Blades or the outline of an 8+.

Impressive blade-work. Unfortunate, that it cut short before the finish. But I am not sure about the constant chatter. I would be focusing 100% on staying in the zone and only expect to hear from the Cox when we need a gear-change. But with this style of coxing you have to listen all time and filter out most of it ... hopefully not missing a call for a gear-change. Or is this only used with women's crews? When I raced at Henley I didn't see one women's crew. It is great to see how much has changed.

Wow watching this and recognizing the look on their faces towards what I consider the hardest part... That final 250-350 meters... Each stroke they took, and the pain increased, but still they pushed harder, and my respect grew. Brilliant race, making those moves towards the end is just pure agony. Respect +++

You did a very good job. Three and five stoke calls focused on individual bits of the stroke are a lot better than endless ten stroke pushes which have no technical focus at all. You also kept your head in the last part of the race, and the crew responded well to all your calls. Congratulations.

Your own girls are looking out of the boat almost a minute into the race because they don't know where they are in relationship to the competition... they just know they are down. How far? And where are you on the course so they can judge their output? Also, no stroke rates or splits (if available). There is a lot of energy but it feels frantic. You get the win (congrats!) but this could be stronger. Volume, tone of voice, and delivery all impact what happens. I do not mean this as a slam, simply an observation for young coxswains who might be watching the video.

We did a scrimmage against the boys yesterday, and they too had an evil plan. We beat them with open water for the first two pieces, but in the third piece, they sped up to bump into us and lock oars, stopping the whole race. The reason I think it was an evil plan? THEY DID IT IN THE FOURTH PIECE TOO! I would also like to add that it was super windy and the second time we locked oars we got pushed to shore and my coach had to pull us out with a rope attached to the launch. Anyways, that race was awesome and that was some really great coxing! edit: that lineup went to nats - we got 5th in the B final :)
