I have such a specific noise that melts my brain 😭I really love the noise the flasher makes on the smiler when a car goes past it, like the squeaky light noise. I have a camera flash that sounds the same and I go feral when I hear it like 'OMG THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SMILER???'

I rode it last year, I would do it again if the queue was maybe 20 to 25 minutes rather than the 45 minutes I waited last time. I got so scared when the nuns came out and where dancing in my face. The glowing train tattoos were really cool aswell👌 I don't like the first part with the two train conductors because nothing exciting or scary happens and it wastes 5 minutes of the attraction imho

See, my guilty pleasure is legoland’s dragon coaster’s lift hill. Idk maybe it just takes me back to when I was a kid attending that park. Plus the t’ism 😂

I liked this video. And i agree with this video. This isn't a UK theme park example, but i think is genuinely a good one. Epcot (well, the park from 1982 up until the early 2000s) had a strong emphasis on music alongside the impressive theming. Infact, i think that park's musical scores really did turn otherwise quiet areas into something else, and I love it. Music like the Innoventions loop as you walked into the old fountain plaza or the ambient music for Spaceship Earth (the 1994-2007 version) really did change the experience, and so i think any themed park needs music to really add to kineticism and to the experience.

Here in Spain there's a Theme Park named Terra Mitica, themed around ancient civilizations from the Mediterranean (Greece, Rome, Egypt...), it has quite a chaotic story and has had quite a few economic issues, one time it got so bad that they apparently made a commercial deal with one of the biggest radio stations in Spain that apparently involved playing their station at the park, there was nothing more jarring that listening to Lady Gaga while walking by what is meant to be Ancient Greece or Imperial Rome. So yes, I fully agree with this video.

Best uk theme park soundtrack imo is the lost city theme at thorpe park

Absolutely fantastic video! Explains a lot of things really well in a great video format. I hope this helps people understand how key music is to elevating an attraction. Just a minor addendum with Smiler's exit corridor, it advances another stage in the shop with the more bouncy version of the soundtrack. It's meant to be what the ride soundtrack sounds like after you are "corrected" Also 100% on the same page as you with Hyperia

Not so fun but I still thought was interesting fact: The version of the Smiler theme in the shop sounds slightly less creepy because it’s supposed to represent you after getting marmalised

The soundtracks are honestly so amazing, especially Colossus for me. Also you should do a video on theme park events such as some have Halloween events and Christmas events! Just thought of this idea and thought it was cool lol

I love theme park music, but sometimes it can be a bit much. Take Legoland at Halloween, same tracks played across the park. I notice they don't play the Halloween tracks in newer areas, but having something different in those areas could be nice. Perhaps some tracks from the same game they pulled the 'leave the park now' tune from. Another thing with Legoland is the music was historically more limited which means other sound FX get to shine and the music that was there was more special or emersive. Even a lack of artificial sound/music can create an effect on an area. I agree radio music for rides can feel tacky. It can work if the tracks are chosen well, used at the right time, or if it's a appropriate song cover. For example playing songs on/with a fairground organ. Lighting is very interesting, if you pay attention in the Legoland 4D theatre you may notice that a lot of the time there are long periods where there are no physical FX. The later half of Ninjago has no fire, snow, wind, FX. Just 3D and lightning, even images on the theatre sides. I think the lighting really sells that's it's 4D compared to Thorpe parks cinema.

One of my fav soundtracks had to be thorpe parks admissions/bridge audio from imascore from 2018-2023, the feeling walking across the bridge with that playing, esp when the island theme hits 🤤

In the ride access queue we genuinely queued like half an hour for it. I don't mind that normally but with the those strobes every 5 seconds and the furnace of an indoor queue it's too much

I think as a whole Merlin have some amazing soundtracks especially from the Tussauds era, og nemesis and reborn, Hex, haunted house, the curse, always have a rave in the oblivion queue to this day. I also find at European theme parks the soundtracks can seem pretty quiet but thats because a lot of UK parks have audio quite loud, smiler as you mentioned a bit too loud but forbidden valley 2.0 and the original the audio really adds to the area and gives it a strong identity, the original really made you feel like you were about conquer a powerful beast which was perfect for the ride and the new soundtrack really brings the area to life too. Great video as always! 😁

Hydraulic launches always sound really cool, especially the larger ones (rip Kingda Ka). As an American, I can confirm that random popular song number 27 while walking to hyper coaster number 4 without a theme can get annoying. But at least the ride is usually worth it. Btw the fact that u use the PvZ soundtrack for ur videos is fantastic

Honestly i always feel so sorry for the workers on the smiler. They must have at least some hearing damage from listening to that all day, particularly the person that controls queue flow from the fast pass/normal/rap queue, they are being blasted by that soundtrack like they're at a nightclub that plays only smiler music. Also that voice acting at the end was top notch. 12/10

I like the old nemesis theme, but that's far from my favourite. I agree on the smiler. My friend had epilepsy, so I went in first (we both got access passes) and asked the ride operator if they could turn off the flashing light in the queue. They went above and beyond, even not using the flasher and stopping the illusion discs on our ride! I'm so happy he got a ride on it. It was his dream to ride! Best theme? ICON. ICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN The dramatic version is 10000000/10. Shame the ride has a high throughput.
