⁠The Catholic Church teaches that a person could be invincibly ignorant of Jesus Christ and still be saved. How does your interpretation of scripture address people who do not know Christ through no fault of their own ?

All pardon from sin ultimately comes from Christs finished work on Calvary but how is the pardon received by individuals? Did Christ leave us a means within the Church to take away sin? The Bible says he gave us not one but two! 1.Baptism.. Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38. For sins committed after baptism, a different sacrament is needed. During his life, Christ forgave sins as in the case of the woman caught an adultery and John 8:1- 11 and the woman who anointed his feet in Luke 7:48 since he would not always be with the church visibly Christ gave Power to forgive sins to his apostles so the church which is in continuation of his presence throughout time (Matt 28:20) would be able to offer forgiveness to future generations. As the Father has sent me even so I sent you even when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven, if you retain the sins of any, they are retained. John 20:21-23 Purgatory is real. “It is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgement” Heb 9:27. This is the particular judgement. Eventually the general judgement will come. Matthew 25 31-32. In between the particular and general judgements the souls must be purified of the remaining consequences of sin. “I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper” Luke 12:59 I would contend that you do have a rookie understanding of Catholic teaching. Dozens of books and as you say “formal Catholic training” throughout grade school and high school hardly qualify you in the subject. Come into the light!

Is it enough to believe that Jesus died for all my sins to be saved. Or must you also believe that he died and rose again on the third day? I have 90 year old grandparents and they have a hard time understanding things because of cognitive decline.

One who is speaking has no knowledge of the History of the church nor he knows the truth. He knows only some verses of the Bible by hearted from the New Testament,the very New Testament which is written by Catholics abd bound by Catholics. I am GL girl, a Non-Catholic girl. I am niw when I go through the Bible, Church history,Buble History deeply, I come to know the truth. We non-catholics neither know the background of the Bible nir of the Church. We only know what oastors oreach against the first and true church. Instead if arguing and teaching falsely,why cant we go bit in the deeper sense? We dont want to understand and acceot the truth. After we are saved this is HOW we are supposed to live: Titus 2:12 “…We should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Since you are saved - your eternal destiny is secure. You CANNOT lose your salvation. HOWEVER, if you let sin REIGN/DOMINATE you (Rom 6:12-14) in any area - God MAY decide to chastise you (Hebrews 12:5-11). God KNOWS saved people will sin (1 John 1:8) - God just does not sin to REIGN/DOMINATE you. Once saved -you should be in the SANCTIFICATION process. Please read 1 Thess 4:1-7. Funny how all of the works requirements are not stated in the Catholic Bible but found in the catechisms.

The whole religion is a construct of man

After we are saved by the blood of Jesus how are we supposed to live as a Christian. This is the part I am most confused about we aren't under the law so what moral compass are we supposed to follow? I struggle with porn addiction do I have to stop or would stopping be considered a work that sends me to hell.

Tom, isn't Jona 3:10 confirming that turning from their evil ways was something they had to do?

We have to obey from then on with faith and live a righteous life simply because the word "if" is a contingent word such as in Romans 11:22. Peter says be ye holy for i am holy. Thats a mandate in all manner of life not a suggestion but why? Because Hebrews 6:4-6 an 10:26-27 shows us the repercussions from not continuing. Salvation is free but its not cheap or easy. "Strive" to enter into the narrow gate.

He warns that these can lead to hell. 3. _Mark 7:20-23_: Similar to Matthew 15:19, Jesus teaches that evil thoughts, adultery, sexual immorality, and other sins come from within and can defile a person, leading to hell. 4. _Luke 13:3_: Jesus warns that unless people repent, they will perish (in hell). 5. _John 8:24_: Jesus states that if people do not believe in Him, they will die in their sins and be condemned (to hell). Specifically, regarding sexual immorality, Jesus says in _Matthew 19:9_ that anyone who divorces their spouse (except for sexual immorality) and marries another commits adultery, which can lead to hell. Keep in mind that Jesus' teachings emphasize repentance, forgiveness, and love, offering hope for redemption and salvation through faith in Him.

Salvation in Christ starts when one hears the gospel of Christ. A brief summary of this gospel is that it consists of things we must believe, commands that we must obey to be saved, and promises of God that we will receive after salvation. This gospel of Christ tells us about what Jesus did for all humans on the cross as our Lord, God, and Savior. Once a person hears and believes in what Jesus has offered by way of salvation, they must realize their sin, repent of their sins, confess Him as Lord, get water baptized for the forgiveness of their sins, and live obediently to His commands. Here are a few verses that summarize the gospel of Christ. • The gospel must be preached for it is the power of God unto salvation (Mark 16 15; Romans 1 16). • Saving Faith is the direct result of instruction in God's word (John 6 44 and 45; Romans 10 17). • Saving Faith leads to repentance (Acts 2:36-38). • Repentance leads to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:9-10). • When one has repented, turned and confessed his faith in Jesus (Acts 8:37, Romans 10 10), he is then water baptized into Christ (Romans 6:1-6). • This makes one a child of God (Galatians 3:26-27). • 1 John 2:3-4 obey is commandments if you actually KNOW Him.

How are we able to be sure that we have come to KNOW Jesus(i.e. saved/justified)? Many claim to KNOW Jesus but they deny him by their WORKS, just like Paul said in Titus 1:16. They profess to KNOW God, but they deny him by their WORKS. They are detestable, DISOBEDIENT, unfit for any good WORK. And John tells us in 1 John 2:3-4 about the people that truly KNOW Jesus. 3 And by this we KNOW that we have come to KNOW him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I KNOW him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. So, the Bible clearly says that whoever says they KNOW Him but does not keep His commandments(plural) is a LIAR!! Plain and simple. The gospel that is taught to many people today has been reduced down to just "faith alone". This false gospel of "faith alone" has made following the commandments of Christ null and void. Obeying His commandments have been eliminated from the gospel and have been made subsequent and optional to salvation. Walking in the Spirit has been made optional as well. This false gospel of "faith alone" changes what Jesus said in Matthew 7:14 - For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Instead of following the biblical teaching on salvation in Christ, they follow this false gospel which tells them that they can be saved by "faith alone", apart from having to keep the commandments of Christ. By teaching that we do NOT need to keep the commandments(plural) of Christ as the gospel, the saving power of the gospel has been neutralized. The end result is that millions of people have been deceived by the devil's masterpiece into thinking they have eternal life in Christ when they actually do not. These people do not really KNOW Christ.

Thank you for witnessing even though it can be discouraging when few respond. Also, without knowing if someone is genuinely interested or is just being polite so you'll be on your way. I still intend on trying meeting with the JWs. One thing nice about it is I know they want to chat about religion. Most people don't even want to be in a religious discussion. To be clear, my goal is to witness to the JWs who don't believe Jesus is God the Son. They need to discover Jesus is God the Son so they can have eternal life.

Hebrews 5:9 Read it. Jesus is the Author of Eternal salvation unto all those that obey him! Jesus died to turn us from our sins. Not to live in them. You need to read your Bible more and rightly divide the word of truth.

Do you have any recommendations for talking with Jehovah's Witness? Any resources? Videos? They came twice and now they are interested in meeting for coffee even though I was honest with them and said I want to convince them of what I believe. We know the Holy Spirit is who convicts, but I was meaning my approach to the conversation. They seem to enjoy talking to me. We're having a good time so far.

Amen,brother. I've been a believer for a little over seven years now. I truly believe that my faith started out fully in Jesus but like so many, I became deceived into thinking that I somehow was responsible for maintaining my salvation. Instead of reading the word of God for myself ( which is crystal clear on the matter, IMO) I read the commentaries and listened to the opinions of men. I was miserable and joyless until about a year ago when I finally gave it all to Jesus and believed Him when He said IT IS FINISHED! The peace,joy and REST that I have experienced since then has truly been overwhelming.

No, I believe as long as Jesus is totally/100% the OBJECT of your faith for eternal life - you are saved. The KEY is the HEART. Here is Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) 9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” AND Luke 8:12 (KJV) “Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their HEARTS, lest they should BELIEVE and be SAVED.” AND Acts 8:36-37 (KJV) 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine HEART, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” When I was a lost person I “knew about” Jesus but I was trusting in my “good life” for heaven. When I learned the truth about Jesus thru John 3:16, I decided to put my faith ONLY in Jesus for eternal life. That faith in Jesus was sincere/genuine from the heart.

Tom, do you think there's a difference in believing "on" and believing "in" Jesus Christ? To me, seems like believing "in" is more like head knowledge and believing "on" is more like trusting from the heart.
