Well there is a critical difference between expensive, and too expensive. All of these decks are, in my opinion expensive. Too Expensive, however, is a comparative evaluation which requires knowledge of a players resources. I have no illusions that these products are intended for Free-to-Players, or those with tight budgets in the game. If a player has a sufficient budget to afford these, this group of offerings represent a better value than any of the other precons I have looked at. That having been said, I really don't understand marketing these at roughly 50% to real card values, when the long established economy on Arena would indicate (digital vs paper packs for instance) that a 20% cost is more appropriate. Real packs in my area cost about $5 while a digital Arena pack cost $1. Lastly, I think precon products in general simply offer a short cut to a desired goal. I would strongly suggest that the same resources, applied long term through my Plan or similar actions, would yield more resources in the long run.

I think drafting for Pioneer meta decks is doomed to fail. Crafting individual decks is a better route.

Happy to help. This is actually a deck I did a good bit of testing. Ultimately, I couldn't get it consistent enough, and concluded that a MB Midrange was a better budget direction. I was hitting a 55% WR, but it was sub 50 when I backed out the scoops to discard effects. My last thoughts were to cut the thought-stalkers & a Cut Down in order to put in a full set of Nighthawks. I thought this would increase sudo-removal and life gain. aetherhub.com/Deck/mb-discard-budget-2024 oh, and I was never really sure that Sheoldred was worth the wildcard, perhaps 2 Lilly would be a better for the deck, but Brawl Diversification won out. In todays observations, I'd drop Shelly and test TB Bauble Burgler?

I believe you do for this event, there is no indication it's all access. This is why I focused on cards almost entirely made from the starter collection, and a few staple cards.

Chandra tribal has always been fun, and often pretty competitive.

That would be interesting, but my short term focus was to provide another option for the coming MidWeek Magic FDN Brawl Builder Challenge.

That seems to be the facts of the matter. I am not aware of anyone having put together an all inclusive list, but these cards are represented in the Beginner Box and Starter Collection. In order to research this video, I pulled up the Standard legal Foundations list in Arena (which includes the wildcard only cards) and compared it to the Play Booster list in Wizard's card image gallery (which doesn't include the wildcard only cards). The difference highlights those with only the Wildcard opportunity. My list is not all inclusive, I only talked about those cards I thought were of general interest to our budget community.

Untap is good for standard, but AE laps them for everything else.

Beyond those in the Starters, these would require target wildcard use. Set your sear to Standard. Lands, Colorless and Not Collected and you should find most all of the lands I'm showcasing.

@@TheMagiStronghold, what I mean to say is I don't have the playsets of cards you advertised, LOL! I only have (1) of each of the Temples and on average I have only (2) of each of the Murder Surveil lands - largely because I prioritized the Slime pack whenever I saw it.

I started playing arena with mono red, the added mono blue. My red has rotated out, but I still play the blue a lot. Fountainport and blast zone are the lands I use in mono blue.

@@DavidBaker42, that's not quite what I meant. Red will always be my strongest color, because it's the one I invest in most. Even with churn, I find there are often enough cards that are transferrable to new decks.

Thanks, and yes the gems deal trend is worth watching. I've long suspected that daily deals were triggered by periods of low activity on the client, but lacked the data to substantiate it. I expected the rapid fire nature of BLB, DSK, and FND would likely result in just two rounds of deals across the 3 season. By my recollection, the last gems deal was right around the start of BLB, so a second one in FND would put us about where I expected. What the pace will be like next year with 6 Standard sets is anyone's guess?

If your goal is to add cards to your collection (and I think it should be) then yes. Literally twice the cards.

The video is meant as a brief overview of a complex series of topics, and I think having questions is natural. Mastery Pass: Yes, I believe the the Mastery Pass is to good to pass up, and recommend it as the first thing you do with your gems each season. That having been said, since Golden Packs were introduced, I have heard from an increasing segment of players which "hate Drafting", and buying packs with Golden bonus packs does present a more pleasant and easier answer for that segment. In the interest of presenting a more balanced and universally appealing plan, I suggest buying the 45 pack bundle each season, and netting a bonus Rare in the doing. However, for those who "want" to draft, diverting 1500-2500 gold from Packs to Quick Draft will certainly yield a larger collection on average, and is well worth the work. Such an adjust ment would still allow the purchase of 20-30 packs each season, as Drafting tends to be less effective as you get closer to having all the uncommons. Your Quick Draft performance is not unusual, but it doesn't create the uphill climb you are envisioning. Yes, the initial buy in on the Master Pass is 3400 gems, and it will likely take you two season of drafting alone to get over that hump. However, there is a gems daily deal about once per season and there are one-time purchase gem bundles that make this far easier to obtain. The MP itself contain 1200gems towards the next season's buy-in and along with the daily deal, you only need to generate another 1800 gems each season from drafting. Thus, 5-7 drafts can easily get you there each season. You are doing great just stick with it! Pack Opening and Pack Protection: When you open a pack from the store, the Mastery Pass or won from an event, the Arena Software Client guarantees you won't open a 5th copy until you have a complete collection, and then you will get replaced with a small number of gems. Hence, if you get a bunch of "random" Rares from Jumpin and Drafting first, those are filling slots which your protected packs won't need to fill. Even if you are taking "terrible rares" while drafting, you are increasing your odds of getting better rares from your packs. This only works out to ~3% completion each season as a typical F2P can expect to open ~115 packs per set. That's only 6-8 additional rares each set, but every bit helps and all it takes is a little self control. I use the term rares generically, and the previous is a equally applicable to Mythics as well. Daily Quests: Avoid, no...but you do get to spin away one quest per day, and attempting to upgrade you lowest completion 500 quest, to a 750 is always worth trying. It's also a good way to try and avoid colors you don't enjoy playing, or to align multiple quests for easier completion.
