Watching this scene as a black man I instinctively know it was a mistake for Narcisse to portray himself as equals to these white power brokers in the criminal underworld, his only play he had as a black man in this time period was to try and align himself with the most powerful white gangster in the city and always behave in a humble way around that white gangster and his messengers , that’s the only way a black man could survive in that world back then, to try and be an equal to those people and stand up to them in the way that Narcisse did in this scene was dam near suicide, the Chalky White , Nucky relationship was a smarter way that a black gangster had to move back in those days
