theGunLocker - Airgun Reviews
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 18 ส.ค. 2021
I'm in the fortunate position of being able to shoot a large selection of air rifles and with my experience of more than 45 years of shooting which includes pest control, small game and large game hunting, managing a pheasant shoot, and of course target shooting, I have gained some knowledge in this field. But I'm no expert, simply more of an enthusiast!
The reviews I post are honest and unbiased. I realize and accept that some people may disagree with my opinions, but my findings are based on my experience of using the item being reviewed...simple as that.

Constructive feedback is always welcome, but profanity or abuse is not and will not be tolerated.

Airgun Review - Weihrauch HW100T is AMAZING! - theGunLocker
Just picked one of these up for my magnum air rifle, got it 30% off so a great deal. Hopefully it holds up well! Nice review
All of these type of breechs and hammers produce recoil. Look at the bolt.
Watching from the U.S. we have a little bit different laws around here. Pretty much carry what you buy
Hi, thank you for the review. I wanted to see the crosshair, and as i expected it is much to small in my opinion. I believe this crosshair is not intended for Second Focal Plane but for First Focal Plane. Also i think it strange that it is called Veyron on the box but written on the tube is Veron.
Thanks. I really like the look of this carbine. It is very unique and it is very difficult to find reviews. I don't like the mini carbine as it is just too short for me. Unfortunately the day did not cooperate much. Shooting 11.5ftlbs and 8.4gr pellets in the wind is not much of an accuracy test. I would love to see this gun in FAC shooting around 890fps with a 10.5gr pellet. Thanks for the tip on the compact scope.
tried em all but bought the Glock 17 dual ammo. 120 shots from a pre warmed cartridge. 3 inch groups at 6M. Great pistol n blow back is noticable
I always pull the trigger, and pellets go left of target so I set the scope to compensate 😅
I have a Mortal after seeing a South African guy on TH-cam getting nearly pellet on pellet at 50m....I have found mine to be just as accurate and shooting at my maximum indoor range of 35 yards I am getting excellent groups. It doesn't see pellet picky either. I've fitted some extras like a Magpul stock, Donny fat Boy silencer as it is loud...and some other small details that just make it mine. Mine is the FAC version shooting at just under 40 joules, so certainly that could make a big difference to this cool little carbine.
What do you think about the HW80k in the new stock? Any chance of a review?
I shall be attending the Great British Shooting Show again this year (all three days), at which point I'll no doubt be talking to the guys at Weihrauch again. Hopefully, I'll be able to arrange a review. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Walther LGV - 1 ???? TX200, Pro Sport, HW80/95 does not exist? OMG
This video is based on the rifles that I had reviewed on my channel up until that time. There are a great many air rifles that I haven't reviewed yet. All the best
@@theGunLocker Sometimes I don't agree with your opinion, but I think you're the best reviewer I watch. Thank you.
Ugly air rifles
Some are...I have to agree. All the best and thanks for watching
Why are the prices so exaggerated in the U.K?? We get them so much cheaper here in Dubai. Some of the guns you listed are close to half price! Such as the FX DRS Pro and Uragan 2 .. 😧
Unfortunately, that's just the way it is here. Taxes are so high on everything and it's only getting worse! All the best and thanks for watching
i have a lightning xl se GRT and to be honest its dreadful, loud not accurate and kicks like a mule pellets very tight in the breach its used as a door stop now.
I feel your pain! One of the worst air rifles I have reviewed. All the best and thanks for watching as well as taking the time to comment
Thanks really useful to see in action and some tips too. Hope to get one of these if I decide to fill myself in future, better than the cheaper junk and good to see something made in the UK for a change, seems you get what you pay for.
It really is a very good compressor... I highly recommend it. All the best and thanks for taking the time to comment
Do some more pistol reviews. Umarex do some great revolvers, M29. Try 6 meters, its what they're best at.
I will, although I have to say that this review doesn't seem to be resonating with my usual viewers. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
Thank you very much for this video, I found it very interesting. Yes, I know they're a lot of money. However, I couldn't help but feel the energy, knowledge, craftsmanship, and sheer brilliance of the people who put the many hours upon hours of work in so that we can have airguns of this undoubted quality and standard and craftsmanship. Thank you, and well done!
You're welcome...just wish they could reduce the prices! But quality is expensive and they need to stay afloat. All the best and thanks for taking the time to comment
Very good review going to buy one!!
It is a great bit of kit. And having met the team at Hills, you can see that each and every one of them know what they're doing. All the best and thanks for watching
Sound quality is rather poor at times so can't hear what you are saying at times.
My apologies Peter. We're on the tail end of a bad storm. The wind was pretty strong. Thanks for watching and all the best
@theGunLocker Not a problem. Thanks for doing something different this time. It makes a refreshing change.
Did you test the 177 and if so, similar results, re accuracy?
Unfortunately not, Mark at GunsRUs only stocks .22 for whatever reason, so was limited. But I can only think that it would perform the same if not better.
Hi. Just watched your video and will be placing an order. Quite a few seem to be out of stock and the prices are all different to your video. I presume I had better make contact with them directly as i notice a comment saying he was not able to contact them concerning his outstanding order.
Hi Andrew, apologies for the delay in replying. I'm not sure what happened there but I have just got of the phone from speaking to Tom (one of the owners) and he's told me that everything is still up and running. He did say that both himself and his business partner have just returned from the Shot Show in the States, so are trying to catch up with orders, but nothing untoward. And regards pricing, videos can be up for years, so please don't go by the prices I quoted. All the best and thanks for watching.
@@theGunLocker Thanks for the reply. Will be placing my order today 👍😊
British engineering at it's best. You might want to consider cooling your bottle in water during filling.
Hi...it certainly is a good compressor, no two ways about that! Regards cooling down the bottle, I found it cool throughout the whole process. It helps that the compressor shuts off automatically throughout the filling process to cool itself down, so all seems fine. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Apologies for my delayed reply
Not great results for any of the rifles, however I would prefer to see these tests done indoors and all under the same conditions. There was too much chopping and changing, next to hedge, middle of garden then back to hedge creating different wind conditions. Thanks for your efforts, based on what I saw, I doubt if I would be buying any of the rifles anyway.
Hi David, unfortunately, I don't have access to an indoor range (with anything more than 20m) within my locality, so I have to make do with what I have. Who knows, if the channel ever does become popular, I might build one myself! All the best and thanks for watching
its not a plenum its just a blank!
Yes...I'm aware of that now. Apologies for any mis-information. All the best
very good. yes, if u watch the tree down range on the right u can c the wind gusts !! but still good shooting !! the gun & shooter chemistry is good 😊
Hi Tracy, my aoplogies for the delayed reply. Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to comment. All the best
Whats the quick release connection to the bottle called, the coupling actually on the bottle?
Good morning and glad to hear that you've just got a Hill's compressor. They are brilliant. Not sure exactly what the name is, but I know it as a Foster QR male dive bottle coupler. You can ring Hills and order it from them. Let them know I told you. All the best and thanks for watching!
Had mine yesterday, brilliant kit
Apologies for the late reply...it certainly is! All the best, Mark
Love that rifle, sorry i keep saying that😅 Scope looks great, i like it very much. Thanks.
No need to apologise...so do I? All the best and apologies for the late reply!
Looka a great wee scope for ratting
It's perfect for that. All the best and thanks for watching
bullpup Huben GK1 semi-auto and rifle FX M4. with PARD DT32 - 70 (thermal/infrared) riflescope and Citadel 5- 30×56 LR2 from Sight Mark. I reach my prey day and night at a distance of between 70 and 120 meters.
.25
There's a lot of good things said about Huben but I'm not so keen on the FX range. That said, I haven't got the same experience as you and my shooting is limited to sub 12 ft lbs, so I bow down to your knowledge. All the best and thanks for taking the time to comment
Very nice presentation! I'm impatiently waiting for my T-Rex after this ! Commercialized under brand Snowpeak in continental Europe. Thank you very much.
Hi Eric...thanks! And my apologies for the late reply. Let me know how you get on with it. All the best
It is not an accurate gun
FX makes their synthetic stocks inhouse.
Thanks for letting me know...I thought they might but wasn't sure. All the best and apologies for the late reply.
Thanks for the review! I just brought a 20J .177 Hw77 non k with a hawke airmax 6-24x50. That's my first airgun, I'm very excited ! Geetings from France
It's a legend of an air rifle and great for a first time purchase. Take your time learning how to shoot it. It's certainly accurate so any misses will most likely be down to you. Just remember consistency is key, the same hold, even down to the same breath hold (inhaled or exhaled, doesn't matter which), just so long as everything is the same, each time you take the shot. And one last point, squeeze the trigger as gently and smoothly as you can...never snatch. All the best and hope you have a lot of fun!
@theGunLocker thanks for the valuable information ! I will practice open sight at first, just to familiarize with the rifle. That's mainly why I went with the hw77 instead of the hw97... It will be fun for sure ! Now it's time to binge watch your videos while I wait for it to be delivered.
Great review as always 👌, very informative.
Thanks Richard! All the best,
You are bit out advertising these at £995 I bought one today £695 it’s obvious you are getting a kickback from the company you spoke about it should be a good one at profit they are making on them
Hi, this video was published in June 2023 and no kick-back. More than happy for you to have a chat with Andy from AA Gun Locker in Stafford who I'm sure will put you straight on that. All the best
What exactly makes this the second gen Cricket Carbine? I have the mk1 Carbine for 10 years now and I can't seem to find any difference between these. There's a Cricket 2 bullpup, which has the forward cocking. The Carbine is exactly the same, on the outside at least. My Cricket is still excellent and accurate as ever, and yes... it's better than the hw100 except for the finicky mag loading.
Hi @Rain-i3m, apologies for the late reply. Honestly couldn't answer your question so I've put it to the guys at KalibrGun. As soon as I get an answer I'll let you know.
Hi @Rain-i3m. Just heard back from the guys at KalibrGun and it appears that I have made a mistake. It's not a Mark II. It is in fact a Mark I. My apologies for any confusion. All the best.
Just some info for anybody buying this rifle. First of all it does have hammer adjustment which is easy to do although you have to do it with the action out of the stock make sure you chrono it to stay below 12ftp. The so called plenum that looks like a magazine isn't its just a blanking block and does nothing on the sub 12 gun. I do agree that the quality control on the power setting doesn't seem to be good but you can correct this.
Hi Nicholas...and here lies the problem. Legally speaking, by allowing someone to adjust the power level of an air rifle past 12ft lbs with no restrictions such as anti tampers, you've actually handed that person a firearm which is against the law. The police could take that rifle from you and you'd never get it back. You could also face prosecution
Enjoyed a fair video unlike a lot of sales rep's 👍
Thanks! All the best
Great review buddy 👍 Had expected more from the DRS. There are not many PCP's that outperform the AA 400 series Cheers!
Thanks! I was hoping for better, especially as so many reviewers have made a big deal out of it. Seems that FX aren't all they're cracked up to be. Shame really. All the best
I appreciate the subtitles, it’s hard to believe that gent was speaking my native tongue 😂 I’m sure it was understandable face to face, and he seemed like a nice enough chap.
Ha! ...and yes he was! Will probably see him again this year at the same show. All the best and apologies for my late reply!
I bought a Drs .22 back in June. I’ve just got my hands on an airforce one muzzle mount chrono. It’s reading 6.1-6.5 ftlb. Not very happy!! It’s as it was out of the box. No fiddling from me
It doesn't surprise me. Hope you get it sorted out. Let us know. All the best and thanks for taking the time to comment
Is it adjustable cheekpiece?
Simple answer is yes. Height adjustable. Thanks for watching and apologies for the delayed reply.
The pellets are spinning you can see them fly .. . If the stock is as fexibel as a dreamline synthetic ..its hard to shoot accurat from the bench . Its a entree level gun from fx like the dreamline .needs tuning .and maybe a bad liner in that gun .thats a fx problem
Hi Peter...I know some people really like this air rifle but I was more than a little disappointed by it. Entry level or not, a brand relies on its reputation and when things go wrong, bad news travels fast. Even the mighty can fall. All the best and thanks for taking the time to comment. My apologies for the delayed reply
Thankyou for this indepth review, i was seriously thinking of one of these as an upgrade to my gamo coyote, but looking at them results i think i already have the upgrade lol 😂 these definitely need an aftermarket (correctly finished) hammer spring to get half decent results 👍🏻
Apologies for the delayed reply. Reximex is still a relatively new company. Related by blood (brothers, cousins or nephews and neices) as I believe to Kral. Most Turkish airgun companies are in some way or another. It could be that they just needed to settle in and develop...let's hope so. Thanks for taking the time to comment
You can get an aftermarket single shot tray that works brilliantly, and is my preference above magazines.
OK...thanks for letting us know
Recently bought one xmas 23 , its .22 hits 20p groups @ 35 yards with ease using jsb exact diablo, perhaps they've improved or you had a bad one?
Glad to hear that yours shoots well. I'm sure that they have improved their offerings now and yes, I may have justy had a bad one. Saying that...it obviously goes on to question their Quality Control department. All the best and thanks for taking the time to comment
I have a Dreamline with almost identical magazines. I love them. Worked flawlessly for years now and I shoot a lot. They could have supplied two yes.
I'm glad you're happy with them. They seem strong enough but they are awkward to load against other types / makes of magazines. I guess the larger versions are easier to wind up. Anyway, that said, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Happy New Year to you!
I've got used to my drs mag now , yes it was an annoying fiddle to start but I soon learnt 😊
what are great review thank you
Thank you! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
Gonna watch it In bed ( it's where I'm stuck for the next 6 weeks, coz of motorcycle accident) later, Mrs owns one, gonna see if her/ your findings concur, can't reply on telly, so will do tomorrow on phone.. It'll be VERY interesting to watch...
Good idea...should get you off to sleep in less than 3 minutes! Ha! Hope the recovery is going well and that you have a much better 2025! All the best to you both and hope to see you at the GBSS this year!
Does the HW100 still come top for shooting (ignoring cost)? Are you getting hold of the S510 “core” any time soon?
Hi Alan...scores wise, no but only by a whisker! The KalibrGun Cricket II carbine beat it by 0.1 stars overall. That said, the HW100 is still an amazing rifle and the one I tested was a decade old as opposed to the KalibrGun which is brand new. I prefer the HW100 for loading/indexing, but the Cricket has it on its 300 BAR cylinder (larger shot count per fill). Cost wise, there's not much in it between the two. I would happily own a HW100 if I could convince my wife to let me have one! Regards S510 Core...if I can get my hands on one, I would happily compare it against the other two. Let's see what AA has to offer?? All the best and happy new year to you!
@ yeah I’ve got a recent HW100 at 20 joules (I’m in France) and it’s superb, but I’m looking for something different for the collection (it’ll only make 2 at that point 😃), but the barrel just puts me off this one, cos of the way it looks (I know that’s shallow of me). More like a punt gun 😃, but I’m juggling between an S510 ultimate sporter, or a really good springer. Also, I’d be really interested to see a wide pellet comparison. I’d only just learned air arms pellets are made in the Czech JSB factory, but I wanna learn more about all the quality options out there, solely for target work and accuracy on paper. Hope the cold gets better 👍
If it's a springer, then Weihrauch are amongst the best. I know the TX200 from Air Arms has a massive following but I prefer the HW77K. It's the gun that everyone else copied! And thanks, still got the cold but slowly getting better
@@theGunLocker thanks for the response, and thanks for the channel. Love the reviews.
@@alanprice9938 You're welcome and thanks for the kind remarks. All the best
Reximex...Who came up with the name of the company and gun? when is the trikey-mike memory coming out? Or maybe the croccy-cock whoosh? Avoided this due to to the stupid name.
Had to laugh when I read your comment! So true and wise to avoid! Happy New Year to you!
