I backed the basic pledge...want to try the game out and the stretch goals boxes are very alluring. Am very concerned about the protracted wait times and issues across all CMONs projects in the last year or two. Hopefully they can get back on track and it isn't being run like a pyramid scheme, because that in itself is an issue...we back a particular project to finance THAT project, not the last one. That said, My retail order of MGS arrived a couple of weeks ago, after months of delays, and it's a beautiful thing. Don't mind waits if there is an assurance it will get here eventually.
I also didn’t buy season 6 or the Elder One since there is no incentive. Now if I could get it 6 months earlier than retail, then I would have included it.
I will totally enjoy painting these from retail while I'm waiting for my pledge
Thank you for this video and the previous one. Question: Is it normal to be able to add stuff like the Animal Allies pack when the Pledge Manager opens? Or not? I’m new to this and overwhelmed with what’s what especially given the money amounts being shown in the Kickstarter. I did get the $100 Unimaginable, +extra campaigns($20), and +Exclusive Relics & Insanity($3). I did not realize I got the Unimaginable box with my pledge until watching this video. So confusing for a newbie. Thank you again.
You should be able to add Animal allies and anything else.
hey mna great stuff i dont own any content but im looking to buy one of the stand alones , what would be your recomendation ? im not looking to have all the expancions so for me start with season 1 or 3 is the same
I would definitely get season 1, the first box. Gamenerdz has it for a good price.
Yes, I have backed again...
I don‘t understand why everyone is so mad when the game hits retail before they receive their pledge. I have such a massive pile of shame as I guess most of the backers 🙈. Plus we‘ll get a massive stretch goal box
CMON has a ton of outstanding campaigns. Its crazy. You would think they would be nearly ready to ship when the campaign starts. You know its going to fund. You just need to know how many to print.
Cool video. I backed the base game to get the stretch goal box. I'll get season 6 and any additional elder gods at retail. I can't wait to get these painted up!
So... I backed season 5. I really like the game and want to have all the stuff. I assume this will work out okay, but there is always a risk. CMON hasn't fallen apart yet. Hopefully they will improve their business and be as awesome as their games. I got the Godzilla and season 5 pledge along with add-on Scarlet. it was pricey, but I really want Godzilla to face off with 'Cathy' and I am a huge Godzilla fan. Do I want more crossovers into this game and more Godzilla stuff? Not really. It would dilute the Lovecraft Mythos. I won't be buying season 6 or any other add on that will be at retail. I will just buy those at retail and paint them up while I'm waiting for my pledge. Even if players don't pledge, they can still get this at retail...there's plenty of content and no risk.
I don't think CMON needs these Campaigns to survive like it's suggested. They have a large retail footprint already and normal product revenue. Could they go under yeah but doubtful. They don't need these games to survive though. Also I figure doing the campaign gets you the stretch goals which will explode it cost and usually hard to get so it's worth the wait in the end. Since they are all campaign exclusives.
A lot of people starved today...
Have purchased 1-4 and the three standalone monsters at retail. First time backing and definitely want to grab all the exclusives I’ve missed out on so far. Very hyped for it.
if you really like the game, then you definitely want the exclusives: unspeakable box and unknowable box. I really like these and i feel is worth the price.
Currently backing forbidden Reaches. But once I have everything, I’m seriously considering getting rid of Seasons 1, 2, and 4. And keeping Seasons 3, 5, and 2 stretch goal boxes (and Animal Companions). The reason is I don’t need 9 large boxes of Death May Die. I love the game, but the gameplay doesn’t justify 9 boxes. I like the Unknown Relics/Monsters system. And the campaign mode looks interesting. 4 new Generic Skills should add needed variety. 4 large boxes seems reasonable, with all the newest mechanics and game design.
That's a common issue with CMON games...the stuff all has to interact and be balanced, so they run out of design space for individual elements. I am into Marvel Zombies and Marvel/DC United, but purely from the standpoint of them being great miniature collections, and me being a Marvel and miniature collector/painter. The actual gameplay doesn't need so many different characters, for either game system. I am not sure Lovecraft Mythos has the same draw for character collecting.
The majority of the world has their pledges. The game is at retail, and that comes thanks to Asmodee, who handles their American retail distribution. This kinda tells you that CMON did their job, and the issue seems to ultimately be with the American Kickstarter importer. So as long as CMON doesn't use that same importer... problem solved. I can't see taking this failing out on CMON for what's, from what we can see, the fault of a third party. This iterations will apparently have new base skills and campaign rules, and provide (apparently) all prior content including difficult to get stuff like the comic book extra stuff that a lot of people missed. So as someone who loves this game, and who mainly was hoping for a campaign mode last time around, and who wants all the bits and bobs, yeah, I'm in and basically completing my collection here.
Good point... I will be backing mostly for exclusives and have fingers crossed. I really do like the game a lot. I just won't be buying anything I can buy at retail later, except the core box to get exclusives.
maybe because america sucks ?
Backers trying to flip their earlier copies for 200-400 bucks when you can get it retail for like 90 is hilarious to me, I'm sorry.
I completely understand your logic in backing at the bare minimum.. but the problem comes in when the PledgeManager opens up 6 to 8 months later when you have to complete your order.. at that point you'll be adding more stuff to your order, pay for shipping, and after that, you still have no idea when it will ship. Most campaigns I've backed tend to run 6 months behind meaning they enter the shipping phase within 6 months of the Estimated Shipping month. Now this is one where it is now a year after the estimated shipping month, which in my book counts as late by 6 months (remember my 6 month leeway of them getting into the shipping phase). So even if you back the new one at the lowest possible aka 1$ just to get into the PM in order to order more stuff.. you still end up paying without knowing if or when it will even be delivered if at all in case they do end up going belly up.. which of course I still don't necessarily see that happening, but of course my crystal ball is in the shop so I can't foretell the future.. any company can go bellyup for countless reasons. Here is hoping they get back on track and are able to actually enter the shipping phase within the 6 month leeway I give all companies.. of course I've backed many projects on KS and Gamefound.. I've got some I've backed 4 years ago that were supposed to ship in a year.. CMON hasn't gotten that bad.. yet.... lets hope it doesn't end up that way like Peterson Games... uhg.. Peterson Games has messed up so bad I doubt I'll ever see what I paid for the second KS for Planet Apocalypses. At least it's not 2020 anymore with container shortages, etc etc etc... lots of excuses back then.. but nowadays there aren't many excuses that are legitimate.. fingers crossed CMON realizes what they have done to the bulk of their backers and will do better in the future.
Nope. As CMON has proven with the current Season 3 & 4 you can get the game deliverred NOW for 20% off via Amazon while the USA backers will still have over a month of waiting before they get what they paid for two years ago. Sorry, I am done being an interest free bank to CMON only to have my money spent on CMON shipping to retail networks for money NOW as opposed to filling pledges as the system was meant to do. In addition they are utterly incompetent at project managment as the laughable updates have shown for over a year. This should be a major warning sign for anyone looking to back a creator. Devil Pig Games was a hot mess then collapsed Holy Grail Games was a hot mess then collapsed Mythic was a hot mess then collapsed CMON is a hot mess... and hasn't collapsed yet. If you listen to the fanboys you will hear "they are different, they are too big to fail." I remember people saying the same about Mythic yet I saw the warning signs and did not back Monsterpocalypse. Same for not backing Rallyman Dirt. I do not think it is reasonable to gamble on CMON any longer. It is nothing but broken promises and incompetence. Clearly they need to keep running new campaigns to keep the cash flow going and stay afloat. With constant year long delays the costs go up and more campaigns are needed to keep going. At some point it will be the same as those other companies and they simply will not be able to keep the cash flowing. Once I get my season 3 and 4 from the CMON kickstarter I am out of this. Retail provides plenty for the $ and far less risk.
Should I? No. Will I? Yes.
Me too...
This is my favorite game, I am all-in backing it for sure!
This is one of my favorite games, so I will be backing for the exclusives, but waiting for season six at retail so I can paint while I'm waiting for my late pledge to arrive.
@@GameBeardLovesYou I wouldn't assume that retail gets it first. Apparently it's a common issue, but you never know what could happen in two years. As an EU backer, the retailers are getting the game at the same time, sometimes later than me, so I'm definetly all in.
I hate to say it but I'll probaly back Forbidden Reaches. I super frustrated that the last campaign is going to be a year over due without an explaination. It's such a fun game and I'm a sucker for anything Mythos
I hate to say the exclusives are worth it. I really enjoy the unspeakable and unknowable boxes and i look forward to the "unreachable" box
I've just backed it, and didn't even check their predicted shipping estimation. I am thinking two years, and if they get back on track, that's a bonus. Their estimates are nonsense across all their projects.
Did you just made a fucking 37 minute video about a crowdfunding campaign that didn't even start based on a single fucking image, and absolutely no info about it whatsoever? What a stupid moron.
I am in SoCal and play BTAS, where is everyone from? how about you Game Beard?
Plastic good, but kickstarter backers were taken as whales. Edit: damn those vehicles are cool. Must buy
Some nice little tricks. Thanks.
Great idea!
Cool result! I'll definitely be cleaning the paint off of mine, but I like your way! Is the original green color just colored plastic, or they actually painted it green in china? Your decals make him look stunning and very detailed
dude ... I was already impressed with the base Base labels you did a few months back ... but those things are genius! I urgently need to try those! especially for my custom units insignia 2 questions i got: What kind of printer would you recomend for printing for those decals? Ink or Laser? Do you finish your models with clear varnish to better preserve the decals and would this be a good thing in your opinion?
Thanks for making this video! It was very informative. I've also started using your hazard markers for my units' bases. I really like the look, and I appreciate you sharing them!
You could make a printout to show the front, your front arcs, your side arcs, and your rear arcs! While not strictly necessary, it would be pretty cool!
very nice
I need a Sigtrygg Poulsen "The Red Dukes Personal Guard" decal for my Kurita Griffin. I want to match the box art.
What print settings are you using? Ive tried a few times and rhey are always too small.
It should be 300 ppi. Maybe open in acrobat... or a dedicated file viewing software. It should be the right size.
Nice work. I just did a set of toy soldiers, world war two in the desert, and the transfer paper I got proved very thin indeed (thinner than the last lot) and that made applying the decals difficult. I've got a sci0-fi set to do so I'll try using paper. I have used paper for larger markings in the past but the edges were noticeable, I think the smaller decals might look better. Thanks for sharing.
Better, maybe not. Metal one exist and the plastic ones do not exist or not widely available. They also have not gotten even close to finishing the 3025 LIST.
About half of model kits of modern aircraft come with decals as small as the smallest shown here. It is possible to make them but they come from a professional printer, I don't know if you could print something like that on decal paper at home. But this is also a great solution, the thickness of the paper can be interpeted asif the markings are metal plates bolted on the mech itself like a licence plate we see on cars for example. Sometimes seat belts are included as a decals in aircraft kits, I cut those out and keep them on the decal paper for some realistic thickness. It would be great if the mechs just came with the kind of decals you mention at the end. For the price they sell the mechs for those decals should be included. But this is a great solution also and it definitely levels tne models up! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I think your paper numbers look amazing. Hope you are sealing them. Should be fine. Great work!
<3
I've tried your hex labels using normal A4 paper they work great. Cut out the label, thin coat of watered down PVA on the hex face, placed the label then another thin coat of PVA. Thanks. I also print out mech names on A4 and attach to the rear Hex face to make IDing what mech is what type a lot easier.
glad to hear!
Nice going to have to try these out 🤔🤔 what about tartens
Thanks for providing these free resources to the Battletech community. You are awesome sir.
I got three of the box that has the missile carriers… make it rain lol
Great video! Do you know where I can find the numbers as well?
When I make numbers, they have to have the specific color of the mini as a background, that is why I didn't include them. But maybe i will add numbers with basic background colors like black, gray, green etc.
I have to be honest, doing this never crossed my mind! It's genius! I can't wait to try it. Do you just print it on normal paper?
Yes. just normal paper... some paper is slightly better quality, but i use regular printer paper
@@GameBeardLovesYou thanks a lot!
Can you print that on decal paper?
That was my thought as well. You wouldn't need to worry about matching colours for the "transparent" images then.
Waterslide decals, at this size, would be an absolute nightmare! The colors would also be muted unless you use white backed decal paper. If the thickness of the paper is a concern, you could use the reverse varnish technique; where you print the "decal" image in reverse, apply varnish of choice, apply, then moisten the paper and scrub to remove after its been given time to set.
Yeah I was wondering how well the old photo to wood style transfer would work at that scale.
Not really. Unless you have a white ink or equivalant it won't work. Also, the file would have to be prepped to have a transparent background. this is more simpler stuff. Usually, modellers printing their own decals also design their own decals... I would do so but I would want to be able to print 'white'
How do you fix them to the models? Just matte-varnish spray? do you ever have any swell and become dislodged, or roll-up! on the edges? This is a Killer idea that I am certain many folks have had before, but no onebut YOU! (that I personally have seen on youtube!) has done it with Battletech. From one Battle-Techer to another: "May your Rosters of Mechwarriours always be as full as the Mechs' in your Inventory! No Mechwarrior lives foever!!!" hhahaa
12:30
I just use white glue. I haven't had any problems. Sometimes I spray the model with a dull coat after, but that is not required. the paper can soak up paint and washes... so just apply these last. I paint a bit of watered down brown wash to create 'dripping oil or mud stains' a bit after
Welp, I'm going to try this since i want to use a custom logo on my mechs and I'm done with the standard decals folding while i try to place them.
GB, thanks for this great how-to video. For your unit icons, what dimensions might you use, 1.5-2mm-4mm diameter for round shapes perhaps? And for square similar? For rectangler 1.5 x 3mm to 2 x 4mm? For the others use the sizing scale of those previous mentioned common shapes which best allows the uncommon shape to fit? I understand the it isn't rocket science so some experiments need to occur, but rather than starting from zero base, what have you found to work well. Thanks KSW
I usually make them as big as I can. It depends on the flat areas of the mini. If I get too small, you can't even see details in army badges. I try not to go smaller than 1/8 inch square
Nice idea! I'm looking forward to trying this.
