However, your FHT hike recently showed up in my feed and I watched, and enjoyed, every episode. My wife and I hiked the FHT in late March 2021, during mud season in the Whites. @@davidkendall6801 that is a great question. If I had been earning an income during the 6 months, the expense wouldn’t have hurt so badly, but as it was, I was spending money that I had saved. When I got home, there was little of that left. Which is why it was so tough for a couple months afterward to pay bills. I also had home expenses that I continued to pay during the thru hike which ate up a lot of money. If you can get away without having to pay a rent or mortgage during that time, and/or are in the position to still earn an income while you’re away, that would make things a lot easier!

Interesting stuff about trail building. The Chattooga River portion is so pretty. I should have passed you on this day, going the other way, but I don't remember it. Either we just exchanged hellos, or maybe I got to Burrell's Ford Road before you came up from King Creek Falls and crossed it. I went to the parking lot and then down the campground road, so we might not have encountered each other. I camped at Burrell's Ford that night and also set up a tarp to partially cover my tent. I also kept hoping for a break in the rain that evening to do stuff. Didn't happen, did it? 😅

I remember passing several people going the opposite way on this day! It's possible we saw each other, or just missed each other like you said. I didn't stop at the parking lot at all. Yeah, I eventually had to give up on waiting for the rain to die down!

I’m so glad we waited for you!! It was special to meet you. I agree that it was a great trip. Great job pushing through all the wet weather! I’m guessing the parking lot was fairly empty when you got back there.

Jenny, thanks so much for showcasing the FHT. (Harvey’s Falls had some redemption on your return!😂) Please come back again once the trail has reopened all the way. The eastern end definitely has more challenges…..nothing like NH or ME…..but! we do have a Sassafras Mtn that lives up to the one in GA! 😊 And I can guarantee your there is not a more passionate group of trail maintainers anywhere. Loved, loved following along! (p.s. were your shoes Topos?) #lastwomanstanding❤

I will go back for sure! I have heard the eastern side is more challenging, but also more scenic. I am glad you enjoyed the videos! Yes, they are the Topo Ultraventure 3 trail runners. But I now own a pair of Ultraventure 4!
