Being from CT, as I was watching this video and heard you talk about Bear Mountain, I immediately wanted to see how many people had corrected you in the comments 😂 fortunately just one! It’s a technicality that Nutmeggers just love to point out!

I’m a little disappointed in your fellow hikers in that last story. With a guy stalking you, you’d think at least one of them would have stayed behind with you that morning.

Lot's of trail tramps on the southern portion of the trail, living out there doing drugs etc. I was sitting at a picnic table at the Groundhog Creek shelter before Max Patch, and a guy sat down across from me and looked at me in the eye and said, " I want to kill someone." I said to myself ok, what a creep. The next day up on Max Patch a female hiker approached me while I was eating lunch and inquired about that same creepy guy, and his location, she had this total look of fear on her face, she said she would avoid the next shelter and find a place to camp alone to avoid the creep, since she had a bad encounter with him. Yep not all peace and love out there!

I had two men approach me on the trail in PA, who were not backpacking, but miles from the next road crossing. They asked me if I was hiking alone. 😮 I told them my husband was coming up right behind me.

I had 2 encounters in 2016, one in Pennsylvania and one in New Jersey💀 one of those was like your last encounter. I hiked in a group for a week until I was past the area the man indicated he knew. Other hikers were also concerned about me. I 2019, I was with thru hiker Spirit. We were hiking SOBO for a anniversary hike. She had been following the chatter about J Jordan. One day out of the blue Spirit said she wanted to go home early. I thought weird but ok. R get off the trail and 2 days later the stabbing happened. I calculated our miles going SOBO. We would have been very near where it took place. I really do think that Spirit’s intuition kicked in and kept us out of harms way. She is amazing and I’m glad we met on the trail. A life long friend.

Thanks for sharing your stories! 🎃 Last month, while hiking the last 20 miles of the NET, I met a guy who made a point of telling me he was a AT trail angel. I immediately thought of your 'stalker' because this dude was creepy.

The Uber/Shuttle incident has stuck with me too since first hearing it. I too would try Uber first for convenience; I really like the app. Thru hikers support local plenty. No need for that shuttle driver to bully you about it.

Seems that real persons are the most creepy encounters on trail 😅 you are really brave 👏

My husband and I have section hiked to Harper’s Ferry and hope to finish the AT next year…but I completed the SB6K Challenge in NC/TN which is similar to the 48 Challenge. (SB6K is 40 peaks, 6K)….so I share your excitement in completing that challenge!!!🎉🎉🎉

We got sidetracked while vacationing, so we’ve watched your summit video and the ones after that. We are still watching the rest of your hike in order-just up to PA now.

It's always delightful to see you and hear about how you transition. So much of it is headspace. Some people just breeze thru. Congrats on 48. One of my regrets only being in Rochester for a year. Speaking of which I just met someone this week who's from Rochester. Anyway, drying out here and the location for my Shakedown has been closed since Hellene. Adapt and overcome. I'm thinking you being able to day hike and enjoy your love of hiking is actually helping manage what some experience post trail.

You should do a video solely focused on hammocking the AT, the highs and lows, what you would do different next time, etc. this is separate from the overview of your set up vid that you did a while back.

Enjoyed watching your AT thru hike. Found these videos and I’m excited to watch as I’m thinking about hiking the LT next summer because I can do it during my summer break.

Meh. When I was in the highlands, it was snowy and windy and crappy. Ymmv I guess.

I miss the small town Vermont parades. Our town did one every year and it was the highlight of the summer!
