TH-cam Logo Bryce Lund loves your comment Possessed instrument cluster - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee | Bryce Lund @tmccollam7070 I recently changed several instrument cluster bulbs on a newly acquired 04 JGC Laredo that had numerous bulbs out. I disconnected the negative battery cable first. When I changed out bulbs and replugged in the cluster and reattached the battery cable the cluster lighting was even WORSE than before. The entire Right side was TOTALLY Dark. I thought perhaps I strained and possibly damaged the wires on the cluster connector. (mind you, I have done this before with good results, but not on THIS 04 JGC). I had a spare identical cluster (not sure what year, but all bulb locations matched mine) I had gotten from a junkyard. I plugged it in and the replacement cluster lit up better than my original. The mileage came up NOT matching the mileage on my vehicle. Regardless of what these "knowledgeable" websites might tell you, the mileage IS STORED in your instrument cluster panel ! superkilometerfilter.com/ and ECU website insinuates it doesn't affect the mileage data. It WILL definitely DISPLAY the incorrect mileage. I did not START my car when I tested the new cluster, I merely turned on the accessory to test, I didn't want to potentially cause other issues by starting the vehicle.
This video is how NOT to work on your tractor. What a HACK!
5 years later and it’s still going strong. I’d say that’s a successful budget repair. But that’s my opinion. Thanks for watching.
This was the last thing to check on my 2011 express before i got into fuel pump issues and sure enough, that ground strap was shot and connected by just a few strands. Plan on doing the same fix to get it back on the road. Thanks!
Nice find.
Won't the JB welded shaft make it impossible to change the cooling fan in the future (because being plastic they all wear out due to heat and age)?
5 years later and it’s still going strong. Never had to change the cooling fan.
Most of the time you don't need to remove the carburetor. Just remove the small air jet and clean it with a guitar string or a piece of wire out of a wire brush works too. The remove the float bowl and clean that jet out also. They will usually run smooth with those two jets cleaned out. If not, you then can remove the car and clean out all the little journals and jet holes. The last three machines that came thru my shop just needed the jets cleaned and they ran nice and smooth. I always run Seafoam in my gas so I don't have problems with old gas or water in the gas like some claim. I haven't even used non-ethanol gas, just good old 87 octane pump gas works just fine as long as it's treated with Seafoam.
Good video that gave me the courage to try this on my Savvana. I too was able to get everything off but there was no way mine was going back on. I tried for over an hour but there was not enough clearance no matter how hard I pushed. If GM had moved the bracket by 1 inch its an easy job. I ended up taking apart the housing from the old valve and used a hacksaw to leave just the stem and clip that originally cliped to the bracket. I drilled two holes through the body of the old stem that has the two pipe holes and zip tied the new vent valve on through those holes. Solid, way easier to change next time and cleared my Pems and cleared my P0449 code.
One cool DUDE
Very informative, for me I must take pictures as I do not remember exactly how I take things apart.
The good news is their warranty is excellent. Just like snapon. They don’t ask questions other than what tool is it and what you need. Two days later it’s in the mail. The bad news is things break that really shouldn’t. 3/8 breaker bar: the square fitting for the socket broke while taking a lug nut off. Probably the guy at the shop who really loves the air ratchet. Two weeks later a 3/8 ratchet broke when I dropped it ankle high or so. They sent the guts which didn’t work because they accidentally sent parts for a 3/8 drive torque wrench. The guy on the phone was really cool and really sorry. I forgot to ask what the torque limit is. Maybe I should use 1/2 drive
As an afterthought: I bought the tool at Meijer. They don’t carry the tools anymore. Sad. Now they sell the equivalent of Kmart tools. Guessing the market isn’t exactly priced right for grocery store type shoppers. I kind of stumbled on it by accident. The quality is obvious
Thanks for this video. This makes me more confident in using my new 3-ton low profile jack on the subframe under my EcoSport. Have been worried about using it there, but it will be so much easier to use one jack instead of two on the pinch welds. Got some SUV 6 ton jack stands, and I'm ready for the second round as the cold months start kicking in. My first time changing it, the oil filter was practically on, loctite, tight. I fought it and swore a lot. Same with my sister's Fiesta. They sabotage tighten this stuff to keep you from doing it yourself. Used 5W-20 Super Tech synthetic with a little bit of Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer. Runs good with it.
Take the front grill off
Great video. I can only put in like $8 before gas spills out. The gas station pump nozzle not clicking. But I don't know why my gas tank is refusing to accept more fuel? I've checked all hoses and charcoal canister. Everything is intact. My gas gauge is always showing full. Can a bad gas pump and sending unit be the culprit?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Assuming its a similar vehicle, the vent valve is most likely the issue.
Didn't know JB is so powerful that can fix a broken shaft?
How do I check the granny fluid in the same mower? My tranny runs fine until warm
Probably would nt hurt to oil bushings in motor for good mesure since fixing motor
Fortunately it was one of the front cylinders. I imagine the rear cylinders would be more of a pain.
Yep got super lucky. Only one bent valve. Still running great.
Thermal fuses serve an important function.. they sacrifice themselves so your house doesnt burndown. The motor cools itself by drawing air through the windings as the fan rotates. It something stops the fan blades while its on it will over heat and could catxh fire. .. as alot of homes did. Manufacturers added the thermal fuse to save your home and possibly your life. DONT BYPASS ELECTRIC SAFETY FEATURES. Manufacturers make them cheap to maximize theor profit margins. They wouldnt add the part if it wasnt absolutely necessary.
Lol yeah I know it’s a fuse. The fan is in the trash now anyway I was just tinkering seeing if I could get it going. Wouldn’t recommend doing that if you were going to use it in the house obviously.
What brake pads and rotors parts were used in this video?
My local parts hut/bumper to bumper.
Can you wire brush the engine block instead of scraping?
Sure. I’ve done that before.
@@brycelund4112 Thanks!
It's easy to change the engine oil. The transmission and PTU are another story.
Oh yeah that's easy and safe
Oh yeah that's easy and safe
Seeing this video pop up months later it may have been user error because I missed the part where you say you grease the ratchet. I like this style mechanism for fine teeth and strong ratchet but grease causes the parts to hydrolock together by suction and I found that out myself and I don't even bother taking them apart anymore I just drop some oil in them work it in and wipe off. I switched all my regular use ratchets over to this style and my last ratchets lasted me 25 years so I feel these will be the last ratchets I bought unless dirt build up caused a engagement issue and the strip out. I have been very Glad I chooses TEKTON over other options. I wish you had zoomed in on the plunger coming from the selector switch or diagnosed the problem.
They send you a whole rebuild kit so no need to diagnose the issue.
This is not a 2016 impala. Thanks for wasting my time. All the jokes should be a comedy show. Not funny
It is a 3.6L 2016 impala. Not sure why you think it’s not.
Thanks for the video! I’m hoping to do this soon! Legit going to the dealership is a lot of money for an oil change. Wish there was more videos for a 2021 Ecosport maintenance.
Service in what means in kia optema
Where can I get parts for fuel tank like fuel filter, primer bulb etc?
Amazon is the cheapest way.
Just got one of these. The primer bulb assembly is missing, whole thing. If I find one how does it connect.
And not to mention they sell the rebuild kits for like $5-$7 on the website i just bought one if i need them on the spot
Yeah I’ve got a couple on hand.
Good idea about placing key fob away from nehicle.
I’ve seen people changing their oil with the key fob in their pocket rolling around on it. Hopefully they don’t bump the remote start.
Great video man. I have the same mower . Same issue. I would have actually drilled 2 holes 45 degrees and put 2 set screw into shaft . Over time the jb weld will fail. Depending on climate. If you get winter like me and don't have a heated garage. It becomes brittle over time. But I'm also 200 pounds. I have alot more weight for the transmission to handle.
Been good so far. I guess we’ll see how long it lasts.
I have the exact same same issue in the same spot, how did you fix it, Jb weld, is that holding up?
Hasn't leaked a drop since.
When I was a kid back in the 70s a teenager in our neighborhood got a moped with a stripped axle nut. He'd snug it up supper glue it and drive around the block a few times then do it again after it loosened up and the chain fell off. He'd do that all day until he ran out of super glue. JB welding the pulley to the shaft brought up that memory.
It’s still holding to date I’m still in contact with the owner.
Always wear some latex protective gloves when changing oil. The used oil is carcinogenic. Just looking out for you brother.
Guess I’m doomed. Done hundreds of oil changes never worn gloves once. Probably should though.
@@brycelund4112 I used to change oil without gloves when I was young. It's never too late to start
@@LA_Commander Yeah not a bad idea.
For the fan clutch....large wrench and a hammer, just as easy and you don't spend $$$$$
Whatever gets the job done for ya.
I have a 06 Chevy Express 2500, can you guide me where the gasoline filter is, thank you very much
It may not have a serviceable fuel filter but if it does it will be along the left hand side frame rail.
I have an o5 and looked hard but was eventually told by youtube it is in the tank.
Curious what was the issue? Maybe just needed cleaning and lube
It would skip teeth I think.
These are my new favorite ratchets
Thanks for sharing your expertise. You just helped me repair one of our vans.
What do you use for fluid in the ultrasonic cleaner?
Gunk carburetor parts cleaner.
I have a box fan that I have been working on from the 70s! I cannot get the blade back on correctly so I hope someone can give me a suggestion.
In what way? It won’t fit over the shaft on the motor?
@@brycelund4112 if it's over the shaft but it seems like it should have a screw because it's slipping off. I did put some nail glue going downstairs now to see how the blade runs and I'll let you know.
That thing you cut out of there is a resistor. It reduces current.
Yeah I figured that out after I shot the video. Thermal fuse.
Question. can I turn the Vent canister on and off without a scan tool? what are the settings for the multimeter to check the voltage on the wire harness itself? what did you set the multimeter to when you tested the old canister in the car on the seat? I have a 2007 Tahoe 5.3 and I'm trying to diagnose the same code thanks
You need a scanner to command the valve on. If you don’t have access to one then you can try this. Unplug the valve, switch your meter to ohms (Omega symbol). Probe the two pins on the valve itself. If the coil winding is open or high resistance the valve is bad. I would say anything over 40 ohms is probably too much. You won’t be able to check for power at the harness without a scanner. Also all data said something about checking the wiring above the front driveshaft near the transfer case. I guess there is a common rub spot. Hope that helps.
🙈
I did this recently because I thought I had a bad bearing on the passenger side but after the bearing replacement I still had in and out play on that side? What could be the problem?
In and out play is normal for a solid axle. Your feeling the play in the C-clips.
@@brycelund4112 why only 1 side though? The other side is snug
@@mikehancho1613 maybe it’s hard to tell with the brakes on it. Both sides should have end play. Maybe the caliper is hanging up a little making it seem like there’s no play?
Iam going to try to make the hole in the Handel Bigger by the throttle cable for more Air?
I have the same one. What are the setting screws left one is what and the right side. I have the same problem with Maine and it fires up and stalls out. I put new lines and filter it was running great and then nexit time it didn't say running? 😊😮
It’s probably the diaphragms in the carb. And the screws I would start with them about a turn and a half out each and adjust from there.
I have a 2021 and this helped thanks
