I have a 1963 Jazzmaster that is in terrible shape. It was my father's that he bought back in 64 and I'd love to have it back to beautiful condition. Is there any help you could give me Or some suggestions on who could do this for me. Thank you in advance.

While the statement that Fender shifted from Alnico speakers to ceramic magnet speakers beginning in 1962 is "mostly" correct, I have a 1979 Vibro Champ that I bought new that has an Oxford alnico speaker. Speaker code 4657909. I don't know if this was a one-off where they found an alnico in the warehouse or got a good deal on a batch of them. Not a very good speaker.

I’m looking at a 1984 Japanese strat with the s1 tremolo system what kind of pickups would be in that guitar? Would you say they’re any good? Overall thought on this guitar?

Most of your pronunciation of Japanese is fine, but FujiGen is not pronounced as "GENeration" it is pronounced as "GE" as in in "GET". For it to be pronounced the way you are saying it, it would be spelled "FujiJEN", which it isnt.

I actually contacted the factory direct because I could not find Gibson type Tokai's anywhere except Ebay. The head of operations, I think, may have even been the president/owner, politely emailed me back, saying they could not export any Gibson type headstock models to me in USA. I have been able to snag a couple 2000's models through 2nd party Asian vendors and the Love Rock is fantastic. The SG is nice too. Now I'm willing to jump into the old reborns.

Tell y’all what, I grew up in Bakersfield and remember goin into Parliers in 66’ - this was after they moved the store from near this ole” flophouse near the SP depot to “uptown” Baker street - i remember the Parlier badge on all the fender guitar cases and amps - but little did we know know in 66’ that 50 years later, Fender would re-make everything from that era - now Moserite, we all go dumpster divin at his factory and would cobble up enough parts for two guitars and 3 peddle steels When I turned 21, we went to the Black Board - the lucky spot was out near FootHillbilly high that I went to - first time I played a Strat, was Jelly Sanders’s Strat his son let me play - Jelly played with many of the Honky Tonkers at the time -

I have a 1997 Crafted in Japan Ritchie Blackmore model, but I understand there was 2 variations, an export model that used basswood and a domestic model that used alder. is there a way to know whether or not the guitar is an export model or domestic? could that info be found in the neck pocket perhaps? Awesome video

I have MIJ Jazz Bass with J+6digit(1989-1990 Fujigen prod) serial. But its "Fender Custom Made" logo has 4 digit instead of "EXTRAD" wording. Wondering what that means or if there's a way to trace it as well.

End result looks fantastic, great relic job. I think the original owner may have been trying to get the “‘34 burst” look that Gibson did on some archtops, lot of black border with just a bit of natural wood in the center

I skipped a little, so don't know if you mentioned that's not the original case for the '58 Strat. Vince Cunetto refinished my '64 Strat in its original Inca Silver. He had the good original acrylic lacquer left from his work with Fender. It's on mine now. After that, DuPont referred me to a jobber who had kept his mix station open. I bought and still have a quart each of Inca Silver and Burgundy Mist. They're unopened and stored properly.

The green looks good IMHO. The finish itself is high quality. Something tells me the green would work better with a rosewood freatboard Strat. More “authentic” (not the Gibson way😅). This combination (green + maple board) looks unusual. But if you take it as “one of the kind” you are good to go. I only wonder if the feel of the guitar changed by refinishing the body...?

I have a 2013 big-tele62 (tl-62) it has a custom edition decal on the back of the headstock. There is a #7 in the neck pocket. Is there any significance to the 7? The body is alder, fretboard rosewood. Not sure what I have it’s so hard to dial it in sometimes

I have mixed feelings here. As a purist, I think you should’ve explored going under the re-finishes to see if the original finish might have still been under the old re-finish. It might still be there.

I would pay more for it untouched. and I would pay more for the green before “aged”. and dont tell me it would not match the hardware. Look at the area where the neck is bolted in. Total miss match. My buddy has a Tele that was in a fire. IT is ugly? Maybe.. I think it is cool. It is just has a clear coat. The original poor refin…was wstill old. I mean it looked so. YeAH THE “AGING” Ruined the beautiful job he did….

It’s curious that they call the OOP position “deep-tone” when it’s actually a very thin tone. My ‘66 reads 9.2 in the bridge position and 8.9 at the bridge. The in-series selection (position #2) is the Stairway sound to my ear. Of all the mid 60’s models one can buy that aren’t student oriented, the Fender XII is certainly the best value with a sunburst fetching between $5-$6 bills - far far less than a Strat or Tele by multiples - while also being more rare. Maybe Fender started wiring the XII deliberately omitting the OOP tone because they got too many complaints about it being too shrill to be useful, which is certainly my opinion.

I have had em all folks!!! Eric Clapton custom shop strats, American strats, Deluxe strats, standard strats, Mexican strats, you name it! I just picked up a few months ago a Japan made strat from 2013. It is the dragon finish that was made with another model that was the Geisha Girls version. There is NO comparison between these guitars and the American models. These guitars are absolutely exquisite! It is a 62 reissue and I can't stress enough the attention to fit and finish from the frets to intonation every where all the way up the neck. You can't slide a cigarette paper in between the neck and the joint to the body! And the sound is out of this world! This strat will never leave me!!
