@BladeLabMiami i do mr expert i use a 100g weight. Maybe your doing it wrong. Probably pushing too fast you have to go very slow as stated in the directions

@@Knifeaddictdillon Going too fast produces a lower result -- not a higher one. You can check to see if the scores you're getting are real. For example, if your Gringo really has a 60-65g edge, it should EASILY whittle a free-hanging hair. Actually, at that level, a free-hanging hair should sever on contact with the edge. Or, you should be able to slice s-curves in unsupported paper towel. Or push-cut a cigarette paper in the short direction. I believe Edge On Up chart says that the typical factory edge for high-end cutlery comes in between 250-350g. My average is around 220g. You average seems to be about half that? No offense intended here -- I'm in no way suggesting you're intentionally skewing your results. But something ain't right.

@BladeLabMiami going too fast makes the score higher on my machine. I've had this for a couple years and posted videos weekly since then and your the first person to try and tell me I'm doing it wrong. Kunwu and Spyderco hit under 100 pretty regularly for me and all the people I know with the machine. Next time use the weight of the knife as your starting point and gradually increase pressure.

@@Knifeaddictdillon Sorry, but that's just wrong. The reason going fast produces a low score is because the machine only samples x-times per second. If you go too fast, the machine can't record the full weight. If I want to, I can produce a score in the teens for pretty much any knife by chopping down on the filament. This is a well-known issue with the BESS tester. My suggestion is to buy some of the clips and the clip pedestal and see what result you get. The clips produce a result that's 20% higher than a properly tensioned pedestal tester, per Edge On Up. That's because they are tensioned higher. For the record, when I test I typically take at least 10-15 seconds, which is much slower than you're going. I've also compared my results using the spool filament and the test clips, and I'm getting the expected difference.

Not sure what a vanilla blade is, but the hollow grind is not something I like unless it's a full highth hollow, like what you see on Jack Wolf knives.

@ yeah because the pocket clip was damn near unusable as well flat scales no internal milling $320 for k390 and dlc idk felt like nothing but a money grab once I got it in hand fall action is kinda crap especially for supposedly reate made?

Hey DeerU. Your comment is spot on. The blade grind was the 'selling feature', with the usual Kizer Cool to support the 'feature'. I'm thinking the Bugai was released quite a while ago? I think it's just a reminder of how hyper competitive the EDC market has become! Knives like say a Feldspar have become basic and boring. Great knife you know, But the current wealth of new cool and exciting platforms is fantastic for us, and a real test of whether an older model still gets us to reach for it. ✨😺
