I want to see VR thrive, I would love to see everyone take up the hobby and enjoy the best games out there, supporting developers and company rivalries alike. Practice in VR, Better in Real Life?

Still Loving the BRUTAL PvP Battles in Hellish Quart
Can't relate to the "Setting up the index" bit, I just slap mine on my head, press my two power buttons on my controllers and I'm in. Cord is above the head so I never feel wired. The only complaint I have about the index is the lenses, other than that; I find it superior. Materials feel very comfortable, superior speakers, superior microphone, superior controllers, etc. Is it worth buying over the quest 3? Well that depends on if your going to buy all of the quest 3 add-ons or not. If your spending $550 on a quest + $300 in accessories, that's pretty close to the index price tag.
I’m about to return my meta quest and replace it with an index. Meta sent my headset to the entirely wrong city, and didn’t tell me they did so until after it arrived. A month after I had to drive 80 miles to pick it up before it got stolen off a vacant houses porch, and they’re still dodging responsibility. Valve has consistently shown much better care.
Imagine if the valve index had a 4k screen and meta games access
The only thing I just can’t like about the q3 is the controllers. In my opinion, they’re flimsy, too simple, and too small. As a slightly bigger-handed person, it feels like I’m holding nail clippers in each hand. It’s why I’m trying to get the Index controllers and use them with the Quest via watchman dongle
The only thing that makes the Index outdated in 2025 are the lenses and resolution. I don’t even own one, but it the best of the best in many ways. An index with pancake or aspheric lenses and a Big Screen beyond level display and the Index would be right back on top. With new lense tech I would buy one so I could use it in the flight sim and still have a nice room scale experience for the occasional Beat Saber session.
No it's not worth it. Meta quest 3 destroys it on price and specs. If you really wanna stick it to Zuckerberg, buy the quest 3 and play steam link. The headsets are sold at a loss so in this way you can have your cake and eat it too.
In Canada it’s 800$+ in Canada after tax but we don’t complain and that’s for the 120 gigs
Weather u hate meta or not . The quest 3 is currently the gold standard of all vr
Damn. You really just repeated the question for five minutes.
I bit the bullet and got the Q3 Black Friday. I've had a now dead fell visor for years and I've been holding out for deckard but at this point I'll just get that too if it's a nice upgrade. The q3 is night and day better than my visor was. HLA and blade and sorcery are drastically better.
You are so underrated. Wow
I have both.... index tracking is far better than quest 3. When using Quest 3 wireless. The quest 3 lags quite a bit, making it almost unplayable for me.. I had to purchase a $50 fiber optic cable.. when using the cable it eliminates the lag. The added bonus is it charges the Quest 3.. otherwise you get about 2 hours of game play, I bought the extra battery pack, it only gives you about an hour more play time. Both are comfortable the quest 3 is much lighter.. I bought the custom plastic strap which makes it similar to the index and its a must over that crappy cheap strap. I also bought the custom straps for the quest 3 controls which is a must... I like the index controllers much more... the quest 3 controllers aren't bad but they feel off when playing shooter games like half life Alex. The resolution is actually better and clearer on the Quest 3. The Index is starting to show its age.. and its hard for me to find a sweet spot to get a clear image on the Index. I have to constantly adjust it and I mean constantly. The FOV is a little better on the Index. But I would sacrifice some FOV and maybe a little refresh rate for a much cleaner and sharper image of the Quest 3. The Index can reach a higher refresh rate, but its not really that much of a noticeable difference.
i stuck in 3:59 cant go further due it says usb3.0 or higher support
Same did you ever find a fix
@MASSIVEPUFFSGHEE i fix it . Iconnected all parts then i restart the pc. Then unplug all cables and connect again. Issue resolved.
the vive focus might be worth buying instead of the index but youd need to pay extra for the cables for pc. 1300£ not sure if its worth the upgrade from index
Legit bought it, connected it and bam. Even worked with a random Asus 4.0 dongle with a bit of lag, but hey. Regardless, got the UB500 which is officially compatible and works great.
i say it's absolutely worth it if you get it second hand. you can find some excellent condition ones for 300-500 dollars
Where would be a good place to get it second hand? I've never bought anything that big second hand before and I don't really trust things like ebay or amazon for big things like the index
I'm not sure there's gonna be a better option for PCVR. All the VR manufacturers think we want standalone BS, even valve. The next index will be standalone.
Okay, this video made up my mind. im buying the quest 3!
Grady Course
Same experience. The Single Action Army is unusable.
Well how about the price of elite strap and oculus link for oculus quest 3, what if you add those up and compare to psvr2 + adapter + dongle + display port?
no.
2:36 good vid but dayum you didn‘t hit shit😂
You right, I suck 😂
don't want headset haptics myself but I hope they find a way to add controller haptics back in but if I do not I don't really care as far as i can remember the rumble works just like on my quest 3. may be wrong can't remember. But those options would be cool But not really needed imo. same with the foveated rendering and eye tracking you can live without it.. I prefer my quest 3 tbh anyway. Less hassle. But they are both cool and when the OLEDs stand out in a game it is cool. I was playing Tomb explorer VR (Vids on my channel) and those tombs get really dark and really bright when you turn your torch on after being in the dark. Looks cool but so does my quest 3 as well. I bought mine for PCVR and didn't pay that much It was about £550 max.
I love these so much! I don' even know if I was crying or laughing, but my stomach hurts now.
Ahw! That is so cool to hear! Glad you enjoyed some of our oldies here :)
yes it is. Index is a full vr package with the best techs out there. plus it allows mods.
I'm looking to upgrade from my OG "Oculus" Quest, to the index, partly because I'm done with "Meta" and partly because I want a newer PC VR headset, and the Index (according to friends that own both) is better them something like that HTC Vive Pro 2, and if I'm possibly spending 1k+ on a VR headset, I want it to be worth the money.
Truly a big upgrade from an original Quest! I would recommend looking for refurbished units if the budget can be somewhat tight but I also still find my own investment into an index well worth every penny, definitely a big step up regardless
Your game library is locked to quest forever. Rip
I'd argue that glass lenses are more "outdated tech" than the relatively newer Fresnel lenses lol.
@@GoldSrc_I get what you mean haha it's partly why I chose "surprisingly outdated", within the space of VR headset design it seems the trend is to move away from Fresnel
Quest 3 good for casual that only play VR maybe once or twice or week. Index is still for enthusiast that will be playing for 10+ hours a week. Not to mention VRChat mains that will spend 20+ hours a week in VRChat full body.
Somehow, I knew this all was gonna be the case, it’s a very Sony thing to do.
10:33 no, if your pc was super expensive you wouldnt need any of this. you really expect a high end motherboard to not have bluetooth? lmao.
in that context index would be way better tbh. AND it has BT on its own. IDK maybe oculus too.
Great video, it hurts to see how underage you are man
Thanks for highlighting the issue of SteamVR incorrectly guessing the PSVR2's native resolution - I was getting some pretty average performance on games that should have run flawlessly and finally found out why.
@@jkage198 super cool to hear I could help you out with this!
Sony's driver recommends 3400x3468 per eye which is 1.7x native. In VR, you have to render at above native resolution to account for the resolution lost to distortion.
the PSVR2 is everything I wanted out of the Rift S, even with the missing features, I don't have a Ps5, I got it just for PCVR and I absolutely love it
The "missing" features depend on software supporting said features. Nothing Sony can do about that. If and when they release some of their own VR titles on PC i do expect them to support eye tracking, HDR and sense haptics. Then there is no excuse.
I dont think we'll ever see adaptive triggers work on pc. even till this day in games that support the ps5 dual sense you have to be connected through usb to make those work. eye tracking? maybe. but only in apps like vrchat to drive avatars eyes. For most game developers foveated rendering is not worth implementing unless they already did on the PS5 port or other pc headsets also have eye tracking and that wont be for a while.
still waiting
it´s pretty simple
Be sure to install the drivers for the bluetooth adapter! The TP-Link UB500 is recommended by sony and most people see much better controller tracking and connection when that adapter is properly updated.
@@WaveSmash a good idea for many that may not have done this yet! I personally updated everything but can still have some dropouts here and there, though for me it definitely isn't very frequent
@@MBaderson I've heard getting a USB 2.0 extension cable and putting the Bluetooth adapter closer to your play space can also make a big difference
To be honest never really thought that sony would give a way for us to use the psvr 2 on pc, but it's cool that they did
I must admit it surprised me too when I heard the news, and it is great to see the option now exists at least
Simple economics really. Warehouses full of unsold product can now be sold for the same price they intended to a new audience while they add value to existing owners.
@@retrosimon9843 Only existing owners that own a gaming PC which is probably quite small tbh.
@@Steelninja77 Why existing owners only ? With the adapter you don't need a PS5 anymore. It is a really good PCVR headset in it's own right.
Yeah thats the reason i will buy it so i can use both on ps5 and PC
Cable vs Michael......Cable 1 Michael 0 😂
This has to be Michaels one of the most videos
Truly one of the products of all time
I mean the index is a old headset compared to the quest 3 so I really hope valve knocks it out of the park by making with a new headset
advice i didn’t know i needed, thanks!
4:45 I KNOW! THAT'S WHY IM HERE!
Just say yes or no, don't make a 6 minute video about it.
