Elijah's Benzo Journey

I will document my journey off of benzodiazepines. (Benzos)
FAMILY AND FRIENDS - Please watch:

Due to PTSD, I have been on Valium for 13 years taken everyday as prescribed and was never told how they could make me worse.
Today my metal state is not what is once was when I was younger and am not the person I used to be.
This medication that was prescribed to me has made me worse than before I even started taking it.
Unfortunately the medication that once helped me for PTSD has stopped helping me, but unfortunately you cannot just stop taking it.
It amazes me that most doctors have no clue about how to get people off of benzos since the only two things that can kill you are Alcohol and Benzo withdrawls.
This journey, will be HARD, but as a military veteran, this is the hardest thing I believe I will ever face second to my PTSD..
My faith in Jesus will get me through this, not just for me but for my family.

Valium taper update and how It’s going. Possible Akathesia ?
Great job, Eli! Keep up the hard work. Don't worry about April yet. The Lord will provide. He's doing it now. I think doing keto will help. Love you
Love u too
Hi I love your videos give me hope Ihave been on klonopine for 30 year . I was on 2 ml in 2019 when covid hit. My doctor retired then take to my brian doctor he put me on 1ml been on that for year half. He wanted to put me on 0.5 four month ago ISaid no that was ok. I have epilepsy so I take med for that. Afraid he will retire to do not know what to do. Sorry this is long how do you crossover to valium. Thank you. Can you take antibiotics when tapering.
Thank you for your comment. Regarding your question about antibiotics, I strongly advise you to AVOID taking Floroquinoquin antibiotics. These type of antibiotics can cause major problems. So make sure you tell a doctor that you cannot have these types of antibiotics. Secondly, I have a video on how to do a crossover. th-cam.com/video/ZuxkhAoKC_o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=db41jeM2svorTdtt
Just keep positive you will be just fine. Just remember slow and steady. Also 1 mg of Klonopin is equal to 20 mg of Valium.
I watch your video of how to cross over to valium. I only take 1mg at night before bed.
Benzodiazepines being very effective medications, even at very low doses they bind to a a very significant number of receptors. This is the "law of mass action". For example, at 0.5 mg they will bind to around 40%, but 1 mg will bind to only around 50-60%. This is the reason the lower you get , the bigger the reduction's effect is on the nervous system. This is well detailed in The Maudsley Depescribing Guidelines. Please go slow and reduce very gradually. I dropped too fast and I still have severe symptoms 17 months later.
Thank you for putting up this really annoying video. Just kidding. I like your vids. I hope your ride is gentle. Mine certainly was not. But I did ct. Don't do that. My cortisol was off the chain every morning. I awoke at 5am to incredible fright. Didn't matter what it was, I was scared out of my mind. I lost 35 lbs on the withdrawal. I am back to my normal weight. You will be too. All of you. I have joined your website and have contributed in writing.
Oh the pain had it many years in tolerance. Got so bad earlier this year im now using a pain balm.. Relate to the feeling it [ walked off once none of this].
Are you still having panic attacks anxiety?
Nope 😊
Your lucky you stayed functional, Im bed bound 😢
I became that way too. 4 months? I couldn't leave my house. I was too afraid. Body aches like crazy. Burning, itching. Stay hard.
❤ur advise best i went from 6 mg to .3 mg clonazepam ..after 2 years remais functional ..its very difficult to taper last doses ..i want to taper very slowly depression heavy at low dose
Yes I have pain in my legs it's horrible, I'm tapering off val down to just over 4mg and I'm feeling so edgy especially in the morning through day but night i settle a lill, I want to try Lithium Orotate the natural one not big pharma, magnesium gylcinate seems to make me feel low in moods, I wish we didn't have to suffer like this 😫
Yeah I have the feeling/pain in my legs big time too. It's always been one of my main symptoms. It's very unpleasant.
i stuck at day 117, i cant sleep, so i decide to hold, i dont know until when, i feel afraid to continue, what should i do to reach 300 days water taper without insomnia
You’re smart to keep working and doing activities because distraction is very important. A high fat, low carb diet will help with the uneasiness. Don’t eat the junk, it will make it worse. I’m 9 months completely off klonopin and the only symptoms I still have is neck pain and constipstion.
What dose were you taking and how long .t Thank you
@@yolandebrunet-yp3bb 17 years! Started at 3mg a day and during the last 8 years tapered down to .25 before I jumped off.
Thank you for answering
Your going to be the best benzo coach online.
Thank you. 😊
Hi elijah. I like your attitude towards tapering. All the best to you and my fellow psych meds survivors.
Taken me 6 weeks to get from 3.5 to 3.10mg Absolutely hell......I cant figure out why it's so hard to drop these lowered doses.....it's so much harder than the bigger drops of 5 mg....I feel stuck....I could drop from 10mg to 5mg easy....now I just cant even drop 0.05mls Depression anxiety Uneasiness It's not akathesia but it's just so uncomfortable....it's awful Like a acute when did the cold turkey of lorazapam which I was cross tapered valium diagnosed with BIND in ER. So I'm at 7 months taper.....and holy hell.....its hell....absolutely horrific....how do I get off this 3.10mg......it's getting so uncomfortable suicide is better....it's making me feel like it will never ever go... It's a LONG time. Battle fatigue. Can you please explain to me why it is Soooooooo arduous these lowered levels? How long should it take me to get off 3.10mgs ...... I was hoping .5mg per month....however looks like .5mg every 8weeks..which is soooo long.. Thankyou for your videos your going to be the best benzo coach online.
Thank you very much for the comment and I understand exactly what you’re talking about. Here’s what I can tell you. It’s entirely understandable why the lower doses feel so much more challenging. Many people experience increased difficulty with tapering as they get closer to the end, which can be attributed to several factors: 1. Receptor Sensitivity: Over time, your body adjusts to the presence of benzodiazepines, particularly at higher doses. When you reach lower doses, your receptors are often much more sensitive, making even small reductions feel more intense than they did at higher doses. 2. Nervous System Hyperactivity: Benzos work by dampening the nervous system. With the reduced dosage, your nervous system is less suppressed, which can result in heightened anxiety, depression, and physical discomfort. Essentially, as your nervous system readjusts to functioning without the benzo, it can respond with heightened sensitivity, which is often described as “battle fatigue.” 3. Psychological Exhaustion: The longer the taper, the more draining it becomes mentally. The consistent cycle of symptoms, fear, and worry can take a toll on your mental resilience, which may make the experience feel even more challenging. 4. Kindling Effect: For those who have had multiple tapering attempts or withdrawals, sensitivity can increase with each subsequent taper. This can amplify symptoms and make it feel almost unbearable, even at low doses. As for the timeframe, going slow is crucial; the fact that you’re considering a rate of 0.5mg every 8 weeks, although it feels long, is actually wise for minimizing intense symptoms. It might feel unbearably slow, but this gradual approach can help keep symptoms more manageable. While 7 months into a taper is already substantial, it’s not uncommon for the last stretch to take longer, sometimes requiring as much as a year or more depending on individual sensitivity. If possible, consider finding a support group or counselor specializing in benzodiazepine tapering, as having someone to turn to can ease the isolation that often comes with this journey. It sounds like you’re doing everything possible under challenging circumstances-holding on to a slower, gentler approach may be the best way to reach that finish line.
@elijahsbenzojourney1705 Thank you. I wish u were a coach. I would pay to see u....that's a brilliant comment...and unfortunately, I have now from the kindling from lorazapam, an ultra sensitive cn.....does this ever heal... even coming off it?
Yes, you will heal. Just give it time. It may not feel like we’ll ever heal, but don’t believe that lie. This entire process is something we’ll get through. Remember, you’re not alone.
@elijahsbenzojourney1705 let us all know when your a coach.....Jesus has you going threw this to help us all. Your a leader.
Yeah I'm around 8.7mg of valium. Tapering super slow. At the rate I'm going it'll take me like 3 years and it's still bad most of the time. I already tried a faster taper and it was complete hell on Earth. This stuff is no fun
Hyperbolic tapering. The lower you get the smaller the cut. You are doing good❤
Hero ❤
Your basically using Claire weeks method
That’s not Benzo belly. You have ibs.
Thank for the update will keep you in prayer take care
Thank you
Hey there, i hope you're feeling a little better- A 1mg cut is ok if youre on diazepam. As you obviously know, the process isn't a comfortable one - but i want to reassure you that when you've completely detoxed, you will feel INCREDIBLE. I was on benzos for 30 years and eventually taped myself off them in 2022. You've got this- 👍
Thank you for the videos and info
My pleasure!
Me too! Heart rate 138
Your diet sucks - benzos on their own dont typically cause gastric issues- start taking daily: Taurine 5g Glycine 5g NAC 5g Glutamine 5g Sounds like you also may have leaky gut and the glutamine will stop that - Per other comments, lean toward carnivore if possible - try to at least go with roasted chicken / steamed broccoli etc -
Can I contact you. I am alone & need help to water taper. I've tried before & went back to dry. I am on diazapam. Just lost in this. Thank you for video.
You describe it very well! Thank you. I am 2.5 years in acute withdrawal, bedridden, the severe dpdr is the hardest. Anxity, memory loss and more. Very Soon i will do my jump (one week) Thank you🙏🏻❤️
Thank you
7oh kratom helps with benzo withdrawl.. buy a 30 count bottle online! Goodluck
Thank you for telling me those thoughts are from this because Im overcome with them right now
Problem is getting a Doctor to let me not have a time line and believe me my symptoms are from this and as severe as they are
I really need to talk to someone going through this like talk on the phone. Im going through this alone and I feel like I cant do this alone
I just look 8 mos pregnant I've gained 46 lbs since starting my taper (in 8 mos) all in my stomach 💯💯💯
Do u take phone calls? I'm ready to admit myself!!!
I just sent you a message.
My Dr suggested seroquel as I am having severe issues. I never get to a ledge. I rapid tapered off lexapro first. I didn't know. Do you think seroquel is helpful getting through the process?🙏
I just sent you a message.
I suggest doing carnivore with a few low carb veggies. I had benzo belly bad after I jumped off klonopin. Been eating meat and veggies for two months now. Benzo belly is almost gone. Giving up the sugar and bad carbs has really got my emotions under control also. It's been eight months since I jumped off and I still have muscle tightness and insomnia but I'm really starting to feel like a new person. Check out Dr. Ede Change your Diet, Change your Mind audiobook. She also has several interviews on youtube.
Hi. I've just found your videos. How long have you been tapering? At a glance it looks like a couple of years. Man. My taper is insanity. They are trying to get me off both Diazepam and dihydrocodeine in 3 months. I was on 60 mg a day of diazepam And 240 mg of Dihydrocodeine. Early June the doctor started reducing me from 30mg of diazepam (the maximum they will give you a day in the uk.) So i dropped down half the dose straight overnight. The diazepam reduction was 2 mgs every week continuous till mid September. And the dhc they started me on was 180 mgs. Reduced 30 mgs every fortnight. I was struggling on the second week when the pharmacy made the mistake of giving me just 8 mgs of diazepam instead of 28mgs a day. I woke up in the middle of the night upright in a state of panic thinking id done something really terrible but i didn't know I'd done. They didn't give me a chart or nothing so my head was in the shed. I couldn't concentrate. Month 2 is when i really started to struggle and realised this taper is much too fast but tbey kept telling me your doing great. Easy for them to say that. By the 3rd month i was down to just 4 mgs when i told them don't drop me no more. Im loosing my mind. If you drop me down next week to 2 mgs im gonna relapse. So they kept me on 4mg refusing to take it up a little or give me something else to help me. I should have told them to hold it at 15 mgs for a couple of months to give me time to level out a bit and maybe slowly reduce it at a later date. But i let them take me town too low. Now I've been on 4 mgs for a few weeks and its been a complete nightmare. Stroke symptoms like Pins and needles around my mouth. Dizzyness. Tinnitus. Sweating. Massive panic attacks. I can't drive anymore. Can’t walk anywhere. I look and feel psychotic I've been through hell and put a lot of time and effort into this but i don't think anyone can do this taper in 3 or 4 months. Im seeing my key worker next week but theyve never been through it so they don't really know what its like. If i screw it up im on my own. Im desperate to come off it after being on diazepam for over a decade. That voice in my head every bloody morning i wake up tells me the only way out of this is in a coffin. 😢
I am very worried about you. I have been off valium (took it for 15-20 years at 20mg a day) for 15 months. I have walked the walk. I am free from the benzos. It was not w/out a very disturbing trial. Complete insanity for at least 120 days. This after I thought I would be in for a ride for only a couple weeks. You go slow! Do not end up where I did. If you go too fast you will experience a terrible ordeal. I did. My taper was for 1 month. That's it. One month. Ouch.
Hi. I heard that a high quality Ginkgo Biloba Ginkgold Natures way can help to heal BIND if taken regularly. It supposedly helps the gabba receptors reset and upregulate. Also flushes out exceaa glutamate
PTO = positive thoughts only :)
As always..thank you. You’re the only one I follow and listen to.
Thank you so much. I hope you’re doing OK.
I'm on the same jerney for the 1st time 😂😂😂 best of luck and hang in there! From south KOREA! I CT and failed and reinstated recently 😂
When I was going through w/d I did not watch TV, didn't read, didn't surf the internet. I just dropped everything. No interest. That lasted 6 months. I'm good now. 15 months later.
Wow i have been having that alot 😢lately
Your take on this makes me see the funny side of things . I love your honesty 😅
Having a distended belly is part and parcel of the benzo w/d. Even after 15 months I still have issues with benzo belly but not nearly as bad as it was (5%?). These symptoms will subside as mine did after maybe 10 months. It's really hard to remember. Benzo belly started almost as soon as I stopped the drug completely. What I found incredibly hard was the fact I could not eat more than 4 bites of food at a time. I had to eat basically 24/7. Every 4 hours I could have 4 bites of food. I ate toast all during the night. Every 4 hours I would have a slice of buttered toast. The gasping and gulping of air was particularly brutal. Just freaking brutal. This was going on at the same time I was dealing with akathesia meaning I was marching around my house for 20 hours a day nonstop. This is so hard. But, you can do it. I was getting maybe an hour of sleep a night. My suggestion for you Elijah is to go carnivore. I found this to be the failsafe option as the meat never disagreed with me. Whenever you have a bad day, remember what you ate and don't eat that again. I found bananas, salmon, honey, and outright sugar to be no go zones for me. The problem w/ benzo belly is it makes you think you want a large amount of food. You can't eat that much w/out getting a reaction by your gut. It's a trap! At this point in my recovery I have been made aware of my vagas nerve which runs next to your spine from top to bottom. Mine has been literally jumping. Especially at night. Is this benzo belly or akathesia? I've experienced both and can't pin it down. All I know is it is really harsh. Some nights are better than others and I can't wait for this to go away like everything else has. Good luck E.
I have IBS and Benzo Belly has exasperated everything. My mornings are spent on the toilet. I understand this struggle, it’s very uncomfortable and having hemorrhoids doesn’t make it any easier either. I recently tried to cross taper over to Valium from Klonopin and it threw me into Hell. Symptoms were so severe I had to go back to my original dose of Klonopin. Hoping to start my taper as soon as my provider will let me. Thank you for sharing your journey. This has been Hell.
You better get moving. I don't want to alarm you but the U.S. doesn't make these drugs anymore. What if you can't get any more? Something very large to consider. If there is ever a supply disruption, there will be many million crazy folks walking the streets.
🙏thank you Elijah ….i am on the same journey..will be following along tapering is hard but we all are determined to get off and get back to being better and healthier 🙏
I need help tapering.
What's up? I've been off 15 months now. Completely free of benzos and other stuff. Message me if you need some advice or help.
@@jimferrill1790 Any symptoms still? I'm on 0.5 xanex twice daily last 2 months. Sleep was a reason. Couldn't sleep. Getting crappy sleep. And brain fog sucks. Ive built a tolerance. I just want off. How do I do it? How long will it take?
Why would you habitually take 25 mg to begin with mate ? I think that’s too much
I didn’t. I was started on the smallest dose, but I had to slowly increase because I needed more for the same effect. I knew nothing about Benzo‘s back then.
@@elijahsbenzojourney1705 you only slowly decrease benzos .never slowly increase ..its not that kind of medication
Did you have Anhedonia?
OH YES!!!!!
Excellent. Any resources or groups for help/support with these kind of tapers ? Starting my Xanax taper next week of Xanax two mg a day for over eight years. Also on Buspar and Zoloft for ten months.
