Mike Tyson was gifted with type II fast-twitch muscle fibers. He came out the gate sprinting like 220 pound Quarter 🐎 Horse, while little white 185 pound Marciano came out the gate shuffling forward like Little 🐢Turtle. 1980's 20yr old phenom Mike easily KO's Rocky 10 outta 10 times! So Marciano threw 100 punches in a round? Lol give me a break. Number one Marciano only weighed 185. So even if he threw 100 punches in a round what would that prove? Why compare a light heavyweight punch numbers to a true-Heavyweight. Only sik-minded fanboys would even try to compare. So Fury, Lewis, Vitali, and Foreman all would have lost if they fought the hyped-up tomato cans little white Marciano fought? Give me a break. LaStarza, Savold, Cockell, and Matthews would be humiliated in the real Heavyweight world. If 42 year old light heavyweight Moore and 38 year old cruiserweight Walcott could drop little white Rocky then the Tyson's, Foreman's, Klitschko's and Ibeabuchi's of the world woulda kilt him. How can a 185 pound man even be considered an ATG Super Heavyweight when he was barely cruiserweight? Even if little white Marciano could have fought a prime Moore and a prime Charles he'd still be fightin light heavyweights who were both knocked out by middleweights Marshall and Booker. And even you wanna pretend they were in their primes the point is little white Marciano still struggled with light heavyweights. One would think since little white Marciano was only 185 that he would at least have faster hands than the true Heavyweights right? But Maricano had the slowest hands I've ever seen on a white boy. little white Marciano could train 1000 years but prime Ali would still crush him. Since Marciano struggled with light heavyweight Charles who was a good boxer, but was smaller weaker and slower than Ali, what makes you think he'd do better against Ali? Could you imagine 41 year old light heavyweight Archie Moore busting up King Fury and Big George Foreman or any of the great Super Heavyweights? Yet little white Marciano had all he could handle and was floored with one glancing shot from the light heavyweight grandfather. 236 lb Ike Ibeabuchi holds the Heavyweight record for most punches ever thrown against David Tua. Super Heavyweight Ibeabuchi outworked and showed more heart than little Rocky was ever capable of. No Super Heavyweight of his generation possessed more ability. He was a prodigy. He had amazing power. He had fierce determination and he had no fear of anybody, he believed that nobody could beat him. Ike was a Super Heavyweight with serious power, great speed, chin of iron, a boxer and a brawler, freakish stamina, threw punches in bunches with KO written all over them, and had a ridiculous workrate. It's laughable to even to even think about little 188 lb Marciano vs. 245 lb Ibeabuchi. Ike woulda walked through little Rocky like a hot spoon going through butter.

Joe Louis' 8 fight winning streak which helped him become the #1 ranked contender before he faced 184 lb Marciano. Below is the (6) opponents ring-worn and washed Joe beat: 1. 196 lb Cesar Brian had an abysmal 36% KO's. Brian's career record of 49 wins 11 losses looks okay until ya see 25 of his wins came against his fellow Argentinians. 2. 191 lb Freddie Beshore had an abysmal 24% KO's. His career record was 28 wins 10 losses. 5' 9" Beshore was on a 4 fight losing streak before he faced Joe. Why would Joe even consider fighting someone who had just lost 4 fights? 3. 187 lb Omelio Agramonte. Oh wow, oh my, i watched their entire fight and Joe looked terrible. What was Joe thinking? He should have stayed retired. Omelio looked as if he only weighed 165 lbs. 4. 194 lb Andy Walker had an abysmal 17% KO's. His career record was 18 wins 20 losses. It's clear as day what's going on here. 5. 188 lb Omelio Agramonte -- Why Twice? 6. 190 lb Lee Savold. Even the announcer said, "Joe Louis reflexes are but a memory." These two should have been retired. They just pushed Louis through towards Marciano so everyone could fill their pockets with $$$. Savold had a career 45 losses and was KO'd 12 times. 7. 197 lb Cesar Brian -- Why Twice? 8. Jimmy Bivins weighed 151 vs. Morgan who weighed 146 in 1940. 5' 8.8" (1.75 m) 180 lb Light heavyweight Bivins (vs. Louis) had an abysmal 27% KO's. Yes Bivins was Hall of Famer. But he was a Hall of Famer @ Light heavyweight, not Heavyweight. This is the "Heavyweight" division we're talking about right? WOW, it's clear as day that this was a predetermined carefully hand-picked set-up using featherfisted opposition. In May of 1950, the IRS finished a full audit of Louis's past returns and announced, that with interest and penalties, he owed the government more than $500,000. Louis had no choice but to return to the ring. The Louis camp negotiated a deal with the IRS under which 36 year old Louis would come out of retirement, with all his net proceeds going to the IRS. After boxing Joe ended up in the pro wrestling circuit and they still took his money. But that gig finished when Cowboy Rocky Lee lunged onto him with both feet, his boots colliding with Louis' torso. The crash cracked three of his ribs. It left him with a cardiac contusion and officially ended his stint as a wrestler. Children used to send him one dollar in the mail. In his biography he said a child walked up and handed him a dime. When Joe was broken physically and mentally the IRS finally stopped collecting. He lived with friends until he died.

37 year old Joe Louis had already been fighting "17 years" with (68) fights and (96) fights before two million soldiers during his 4 year military service before facing Marciano. Joe’s speed was just a memory. His accuracy and timing were long gone and his reflexes were no longer instinctive. Louis was a sitting duck. By contrast, 184 lb Marciano was just entering his prime. 40 year old C-LEVEL Cruiserweight Journeyman Joe Walcott had already been fighting "22 years" with (68) fights before facing little 184 lb Rocky. Feather-fisted Walcott had an abysmal 44% KO's. Walcott being granted (6) title attempts in a (5½) year span proves how shallow the division was. And (5) of his title opportunities came immediately after a loss!!! This is important. Giant Abe Simon put Walcott into retirement for 4 years 4 months and Rocky himself said, "Walcott was only 90%" @ 'The Marciano Tapes 3' Walcott lost (20) times and was KO'd (6) times. Journeyman Joe's most notable victories include wins over Light heavyweights Charles & Maxim. Combined Charles & Maxim lost (54) times. Imagine today's Heavyweights Usyk & Joshua having (54) losses? They'd be thrown under the bus for eternity while Walcott continuously gets praised & glorified for his (20) losses. Light heavyweight powder-puffer Charles with the lowest ever 42% KO's had already been fighting "15 years" with (95) fights before facing Marciano in 1954. Charles was already showing signs of ALS against Walcott in 1951 according to William Dettloff' biography 'Ezzard Charles: A Boxing Life' Charles lost (25) times and was KO'd (7) times. 42 year old Light heavyweight Moore had already been fighting "20 years" with (178) fights before facing Marciano. Moore said, "Rocky Marciano was about 15 years younger than I was." -@ Archie Moore Talks 2007TBears Wouldn't that put Archie in his mid 40's? Moore Lost (23) times and was KO'd (7) times. In summary Walcott was 40, Moore 42, Charles had ALS and Louis was washed. Marciano never fought an ATG in his prime and he was only 31 when he quit. It's no wonder Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward said, "Marciano was too small. He really wasn't a Heavyweight. 5' 10", exceptionally short arms, very clumsy, cut easy, had troubled balance. 188 lbs was just too small." @ Emanuel Steward: Ali all time greatest, Klitschko number eight

Joe Walcott was a great fighter, Walcott had the best legs that division had seen since Jim Corvett. I have him in at #18 ATG Heavy Champ but have seen him as high as 15. This was in the day before there were 40 top ten heavy contenders (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO etc.) and every fighter had to come up the same ladder. Joe came up straight out of the depression with a huge family to feed. Joe would take fights hurt, sick and on short notice, he earned a few losses like the fool below points out. But the fool below fails to point out that for the most part Joe avenged those losses, in fact X2 over Charles, X2 over Maxim, X1 over Ray, X2 over Allen. He got robbed against Louis in their first fight. This man earned an unprecedented 6 shots at the heavy title and won it with one of the most devastating near decapitating single snot left hooks over 30-year-old Charles that I have ever seen. Jersey Joe Walcott is an ATG Boxing Hall of Famer.

Boxing's most courageous man in all history. From July 14, 1936 to March 15, 1963, Archie Moore fought (anywhere) the toughest, meanest, most vicious punching sluggers in the middleweight, light-heavy and heavyweight divisions. Here in Australia, he is still greatly esteemed.

Jersey Joe Walcott' fighting stance was not a traditional one. Holding his hands at chest level, Walcott was able to feint not just with his gloves but with his shoulders. Walcott had a pin point jab, two-handed punching accuracy and a sneaky right hand counter. His best weapon however was a counter-punch left hook which he would unload on his opponent after luring them towards him. The footwork of Walcott consisted of switching his lead foot between left and right while keeping his opponent guessing which hand he was going to lead with. Walcott used this to present angles to his opponents, throw them off-balance all the while making himself a more elusive target. In Walcott's day his fighting style was described as 'cagey', 'tricky', or 'cute'. If he were around today he would be thought of as a 'showboater' or 'flashy'. Walcott was impressive stylistically, and enjoyable to watch.

Sonny Liston's arms were like tree trunks, and his two 15 inch ham-handed fist were made for destruction. He was able to generate incredible bone breaking teeth shattering leverage with his 84" reach. Nobody goes toe to toe with Sonny, not even Big George. Liston would have KO'd Rocky in one round. Little white 184 lb Marciano had a featherweight arm reach of 67" inches. Imagine penguin🐧arms Rocky trying to fight authentic Super Heavyweights with 50 to 80+ pound weight advantages and 80" to 85" arm reaches? What an embarrassment Rocky would have been today. The less said about 254 lb Humphrey Jackson the better. He only had 7 fights as a pro and had found a way to be KO'd by a guy with 1 fight. So this was little white Rocky's so called authentic Heavyweight opponent he faced? Another Typical Undercard C-Level Factually Marciano would bust a payphone clean off the wall just to retrieve his 10 cents even though he had 30K in his pocket. He was half a bubble off plumb. It's in his biographies.

although he lost 20 times; upon analysis a few losses were early in his career and his losses contained: 2x Rocky, 2x Ezz Charles, 2x Joe Louis, Abe Simon, rex Layne, 2x Tiger Jack Fox, 2x Roy Lazer, DQ - Kayo Palmer. So I would also look to view the tapes of his performances and quality of the opposition to assess his prowess. I think he was a phenomenal fighter and his class and quality of skill speak for themselves in the footage.

The quality of a boxer cannot be measured by how many defeats he has. Most modern boxers receive a KO and retire. This man managed to become champion at the age of 37. Anyway, I'm not saying he's the GOAT or anything like that, I'm just showing some of his skills. To be honest, I don't think Jersey Joe Walcott is popularly overrated. However, Rocky Marciano for example is goated by casual fans for the simple fact of being undefeated. Walcott faced the best opposition in his prime, so I'd rather have one Jersey Joe than twenty undefeated Mayweathers.

Rocky was a good champion but most of his relevant rivals were not in his prime and his abilities were limited. And Louis was the people's champion, but he fought against many light heavyweight fighters. However, they were both exciting boxers to watch and great champions, there is no doubt about that.
