Traditional Inking: LP version no.2 Full Inks
Traditional inking work in progress of the cover concept for my "90's Ashcan Challenge" comic.
This is a long one. So grab a cup of your favorite beverage, or two, relax, and enjoy.
Getting back into drawing comics by inking my pencil sketches. This is all in preparation for starting work on my first indie comic with my original characters. More videos to come.

Speed Art: Tradition Coloring with Pastels
มุมมอง 2614 วันที่ผ่านมา
Traditional coloring with pastels. The original idea was just to color the two fill light sources, the yellow and blue. But since this is all practice art, I decided to do full color. Getting back into drawing comics by inking my pencil sketches. This is all in preparation for starting work on my first indie comic with my original characters. More videos to come.

SPEED ART: Digital Color in Krita
มุมมอง 44หลายเดือนก่อน
The final stage of the process. This was one of the earliest digital art coloring that I had done at the time. As I started getting back into drawing and prepping to start my own comic, I was looking for ways to document my process. I found that I could screen capture directly with Quicktime while doing work digitally. This was going to be a quick test to see how the screen capture would work a...
SPEED ART: Digital Inking The Overview Version (no canvas rotation) KRITA
มุมมอง 302 หลายเดือนก่อน
The overview window in Krita shows the entire art piece with delays in updating compared to the actual canvas view. The overview window only updates after there has been no activity on the canvas for 3-4 seconds. This gives the effect, in some instances, of small section appearing to just pop in rather than seeing the lines being drawn. The rectangle moving around in the overview is a represent...

For those that are effected by the rapidly rotating canvas, check out the Overview version that has no rotation. Digital color video will be coming soon. As I started getting back into drawing and prepping to start my own comic, I was looking for ways to document my process. I found that I could screen capture directly with Quicktime while doing work digitally. This was going to be a quick test to see how the screen capture would work and to figure out settings. I ended up creating a new character for myself for use down the line. Digital inks a...
SPEED ART: Traditional Inking Practice

Getting back into drawing comics by traditionally inking some of my sketches. I've used nibs in art classes over the years, but never for inking a comic. This first video is mainly refreshing myself with a dip pen which I have not used in years, and trying out a Pentel brush pen. At the time of recording, I have not yet mastered the tapered line. This is all in preparation for starting work on ...
Things R Stranger
มุมมอง 308 ปีที่แล้ว
While working on a piece of music, I wrote a phrase that reminded me of Stranger Things. I took that phrase out of that music and made this Stranger things inspired track. I put it to the title sequence to see how it plays. Had to adjust the timing of the video to match the music better.

Christopher Montoya: New Tripod Testing
มุมมอง 1449 ปีที่แล้ว
I recently purchased a new tripod, a Davis & Sanford Provista with a FM18 Fluid Head and a W3 Universal Dolly Kit. Shot some quick footage to test out the new gear. Also tested out the stabilization feature in FCPX. Shot with my Sony HXR-NX5U NXCAM and practiced some focus racks too.
Christopher Montoya: Media100 Trailers: Blade - Alien
มุมมอง 1510 ปีที่แล้ว
One of the first projects in my editing 2 class at the Academy was to yet again edit movie trailers. This time it was on a nonlinear system Media 100. This allowed for more control over the audio and transitions. The first trailer is Blade. It's just a straight forward trailer. For the Alien trailers, we were instructed to tell the story of the a movie with no dialogue in 30sec. I did two versi...

Underrated asf. This is awesome
Thank you! I've been posting my art videos for two months now. It will take time to get some momentum. Thanks again for your interest!
@TheMontoya76 you deserve to grow, good luck!
Very nice 🖋️ inking 💎⭐️🌟🎀
Thank you! I'm getting better with each page I do.
I'll have you know I'm a cultured heathen. I really like Firealpaca for digital inks - it loads up super fast, has great perspective tools, and is totally free.
Well you have my apologies good sir, I mean heathen. I have been using Krita for those reasons. I'll have to check out Firealpaca and see how it compares, with my workflow in mind.
@@TheMontoya76 all my digital inks were done with it
Traditional all the way! Keep it up dude you're giving Mitch a run for his money! :D
Thanks, Brayne! So far these are from early 2024. I'll have more recent/ slightly better, inking coming soon.
Nice man 😊
Thanks! Appreciate that.
It always fills my black heart with joy when I see someone use a REAL crow quill to ink a page. There is no finer feeling that smudging the line you just put down because the ink was still wet and you forgot your protection! Great job dude. Keep posting these cause they're a great watch and your technique is sick! :D
Thanks, Brayne! I've got a few more in the can, and I am continuing to film more. Hopefully I can keep a once a week schedule. Also, you are my first comment! I need to find a way to frame this. 😆
