You just drop 'em in from the top, then lift the hood and get underneath and pull down with a pliers (using the car's own bonnet for leverage from above) and twist the contraption 90 degrees, so the two "claws" come off their perches and hold to the underside of the car. Takes seconds. In your case, Olaf, you pulled and twisted the unit while it was still in your hand (at 3:20). You should have done that only once it was in the bonnet. I request kindly that you please delete this video and re-do once you know how to do it right, as this one currently wastes all our time. 😕 Thank you and good luck!

Pro tip, anytime you wish to replace a fuel hose, you can block off one end with a Philips screw driver, this way you won't damage the inner hose walls like you would when using a bolt or a screw. I recently had a faint fuel smell in my 500 SE's cabin, however it went away already. I noticed that with my car this occurred the very first time I topped up the fuel completely. I have owned the car for about 3 months now, and will start to slowly restore it, starting with the rear window and trunk rust spots.

Hello there. :) Just got suggested your video,, most likely cause i am looking up w/c126 content..as i am in the process of getting myself one coupe 126 version :) And your car caught my eye...as it seems to be the 904 color..Dunkelblau? Beautifull color :) When it comes to storage of cars..especially KE/K jetronic cars...it is crucial to have it stored only with ethanol free gas(Ethanol in the gasonline makes it hygroscopic,,,drawing moisture into the fuel) And keep the gas tank full also. When it comes to starting the car...it is far better to leave it " unstarted" for the period.The amount of condensation accumulating from these cold starts,and not beeing able to drive the car...is alot,and it is not good for the engine/etc. Condensation accumulates in the engine crankcase, and also alot of it in the exhaust,and makes your exhaust rust "quicker" from the inside. So in my opinion,it is better to just leave the car sitting, and not think about it. This is of course considering that you have done these pre storage "things":...fill up gastank, more airpressure in the tires, maybe an airdrier bowl/ bag inside the car.Maybe charge the battery once in a while if you have the possibility. Things like this will make storing the car,far better for the car. Also replacing the oil and filter at least before you take it out..but also ideally change it before you store it,is a good thing to do...because of the acidics accumulated in the oil ,will in worst cases corrode the light metals inside the engine during storage. This is actually written in the owners manual for the Bmw 850 i... ( Replace all oils before and after storing the car :) Either way ...this is things i do when i store my hobby cars. Radbolzen nur von Hand einschreiben und dann mit den schlagschrauber. Sonst droht gewindefrass😂. WD 40 nicht auf die Bremsscheibe sprühen. Keramikpaste nach entrosten der Radnarbe sparsam verwenden. Sonst top!! LG Thomas

Here in northern Finland I use to take a few country road trips with my 420 SE when it is -20 celcius or colder. Then the roads are dry from salt. I have winter tires for the car. I drive always 100 km or more that the car warms up properly and the exhaust system warms and dries too. Otherwise I keep the car in a warm garage and keep battery charged (I don't know if this is necessary because W126 does not drain battery when standing). The sad thing is, that I always begin to think how good winter cars these are - very warm and comfortable. Safe to drive on slippery roads. Magnificent heater, automatically heated mirrors and washer, headlamp washers, seat heaters... But it would be sad to ruin these cars with every day use during winter because of rust. I know that these Bosch K/KE-Jet systems are designed to be in everyday use - these don't like long standing periods. And the quality of gasoline today with ethanol and all... It is essential to let these cars run every once in a while during off-season period. By the way - my W126 also starts always right up, like I have parked it yesterday. Actually every Mercedes I have owned has been similar. Never problems. 😊
