    All thise towers and neighbors... Where are grocer's the grocery the Kwik trip the hardware supplies stores the churches the diners and restaurants and grass and trees. ... No place no space... Where's the privacy... Thousands of dollars a month for a condo space thats less than half the square footage my house ..

      You know there is a mall there right? The entire central area is being redeveloped as an upscale mall/park/entertainment area. There will be plenty of greenery and landscaping once everything is done. Plus there is a Canada line stop literally right next to it. Both Vandusen and Queen Elizabeth park are a short walk away. People don't go to church so churches are not needed.

    Nice view of Mount pleasant Station from the bus. The next time when you do Arbutus Station, could you include a view of the station from the bus? It’s good to do something like that since anyone of us can get a good clear view of the station progress

    IMO, these new towers are a definite improvement over the 1970s brutalist-looking Empire Landmark Hotel that used to be here. But what I really like is how the new podium interfaces with the street realm. The shops are attractive, and well-designed and will make a positive contribution to Robson St. The podium has that highend look that only come when quality materials are used(it looks like Clinker Brick was used at the rear of the podium...very nice!). Overall, this project is a thumbs-up in my book!

      I'm a bit tough on this one. It is for sure an improvement. For me it falls short in personality. The building looks like a typical condo building with retail at the bottom. It does not have a distinct look or special artistic flare that sets them apart. There's no outdoor garden sanctuary, outdoor art installation or water fountains that would contribute to luxury. They should have tried to secure 1 or more anchor tenants before construction. I suspect they will be small businesses at the bottom which will not contribute to the luxury feel. Their condo size range from 584-1,3623 sqft, 1 bedroom starting at 1.3 mil, 2 bedroom starting from $2 mil and 3 bedroom starting at $3.8 mil. Those are expensive prices. Downtowns in major cities such as San Francisco, Seattle are in a decline with many shops closed. I see Vancouver in decline as well. With a new downtown building coming on and a name like "Landmark", I was expecting some cool architectural details. The Butterfly on Nelson ( westbankcorp.com/body-of-work/the-butterfly ) and Bosa Properties 1700 Alberni Street ( www.dezeen.com/2022/01/12/1700-alberni-vancouver-heatherwick-studio ) projects, they are fresh, vibrant and innovative. If I had to choose between buying a condo or being a retail tenant at Landmark on Robson or Bosa Properties' 1700 Alberni Street building, I would pick the 1700 Alberni Street because it feels special.

      @@MetroVancouverConstruction The Butterfly has certainly raised the bar, and it will be challenging for other developments to achieve this same level of design and build quality. These towers are 'safe'... there is nothing to distinguish them from most other new builds of late. One thing about the former tower is that, love or hate it, it certainly made its presence known. As for Vancouver going the way of San Francisco(or Seattle), of course, I hope you're wrong, but simply saying that 'it can't happen here' is treading on the heels of magical thinking, and no doubt there were those in San Fran who said the same thing about their town before the decline set in. As for paying 1.2 million for a one-bedroom condo, for that price I would expect 'Butterfly' quality and amenities, and it simply makes my head spin!

      They've been reporting on this project for quite some time. I was a little stunned to hear the Georgia St. viaduct was going to be removed, I grew up with it being there. I don't live in the city anymore, but there's construction and rebuilding EVERYWHERE...take a drive out to the Fraser Valley, now they're talking about letting Sumas Lake return....better decide before that stretch of the #1 gets redone. It'll be interesting to see how it all ends up.

    Great news that boring has finally been completed, but what a shame that this line has to be built in two separate phases. We have the machines and we all know it's never going to be cheaper to extend the line to UBC than right now! What a missed opportunity!

    Thanks for the video! It's wonderful to see this old church repurposed and incorporated into what is clearly an outstanding modern tower. I hope this project serves as a template for how other heritage structures can be preserved in the city!
