Nymphing the Upper Housatonic (Unexpected Catch!)
มุมมอง 161ปีที่แล้ว
This was an epic day of fly fishing up by Housatonic Meadows State Park. I will no doubt be back later this summer to target some smallmouth. And apologies for the sound quality…was working with a faulty mic that has been replaced. . . . #fishing #fish #flyfishing #freshwater #freshwaterfishing #trout #troutfishing #outdoors
Slow Rolling NLBNs for BIG Spring Bass || May Striped Bass On The Cape (Day 3)
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
I’ve been reaching for these NLBNs to fish the bottom of the water column more and more these days…the Savage Gear Eels work well when you need to jig over heavier structure but when you want to swim something over a sandy bottom, these really do the trick. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my rod/reel setup as well so linking those below. This was one of my first surf setups that I bo...
When You Time the Tides Just Right || May Striped Bass On The Cape (Day 2)

This Is Why Everyone Complains About Mung || May Striped Bass On The Cape (Day 1)
มุมมอง 3.5Kปีที่แล้ว
We had to sift through the seaweed (or what the locals call Mung) to find the Stripers in this one. I can’t say I’ve ever seen seaweed this thick and it’s apparently mainly due to commercial draggers… with the onshore breeze making it even worse. The following couple days only heated up as we figured out when to fish to avoid the weeds. . . . #fish #fishing #stripedbass #capecod #outdoors
Catastrophe in the Caymans
มุมมอง 1.6Kปีที่แล้ว
Travel with me down to the Cayman Islands as I try to catch a DIY Bonefish on the fly...as you can probably guess from the title it doesn't go as planned. Plenty of lessons learned from this one and would love to hear what you all think I should have done differently. . . . #fishing #fish #saltwaterfishing #flyfishing #caymanislands #bonefish #barracuda #outdoors
Chasing Spring Stripers in the Jersey Backwaters
มุมมอง 29Kปีที่แล้ว
It’s on! Big Stripers have pushed into the Raritan Bay and adjacent river systems in numbers. It took us a little while to track them down but when we found the bait it was nonstop action for a couple hours. . . . #fish #fishing #stripedbass #stripedbassfishing #outdoors
Great spot for striper
Moved to Stratford 2 years ago fish the river and sound often. Like most people said beware of the tides! Most times you barely have anyone out which is nice.
That's fishing for you but you did caught a beautiful fish
Go sniff around red bank in the early spring 😉
How you liking the tsunami shield? Still using it ?
Going to cayman tomorrow so excited
hey great vid man! can you explain to me how the tide is crucial for striper and if you prefer high or low tide. thanks!!
Great questions. I spend way too much time thinking about this stuff. It’s really the currents created by the tides that lead to dependable feeding and ambush spots for the bass. And I wish the second part was easier to answer. It’s pretty situational. Inlets like this tend to fish well on an outgoing since all the bait in the bay gets funneled into a narrow pass but there are spots near here that are only fishable when you wade out near low…you just gotta spend time out there to figure it out.
1/2 mile to my sisters place. I know exactly where that is
BB strip set on the bite lift to a 45 degree angle strip hand out and down from the reel with just enough pressure for excess line to go out and palm your reel from the bottom. Excellent video thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next. Good luck and tight lines.
Hi there Billy Bass. Will be at the C.C.C. early this yr. Maybe we'll see each other. It's only 1 hr. drive for me & I've never fished it. My boy skated in the Cape Cod hockey league. Driven over both bridges too many times to count so it's WAY overdue!!!
GORILLA BLUES GOT BIG SHOULDERS!!
Location. ?? This guy sucks
Where is this
Nice job takimg that treble hook off the end. No need to damage the fish.
I dont like using treble hooks much. I feel like its going to damage the fish too much.
Guides are indispensable if you want to catch fish in unfamiliar waters.
@haleconconjr9277 1 second ago Great video. I grew up stripped bass fishing on the west coast. I have 1 day to fish for striped bass on the Delaware River near N Camden. Any good suggestions for Jetties/parks/piers or beaches throwing soft plastics or light bait? Thank you.
Nice slot release.
Thanks for the content. What kind of rod is that?
Billy: you are so lucky you got back. Our Connecticut tides are as high over 8 feet during moon tides and many a fisherman have drown going out on river opening bars at dead low and getting swept out when that tide piles in fast. What can look like flat land on way out can have deep cuts or valleys on way back in. Good rule is to fish outgoing and head back in close to dead low. Then always safe. Glad you go back ok. We have all been there. Scary, especially when dark. I got caught on nearby Penfield Reef once 1/2 mile out when a thick fog bank engulfed my pal and I at night.
Navesink is a great fishery
Cape Cod in December?
Not positive but it sure looked like you were hooking the rear treble onto the inside of the ceramic guide. Yikes, I couldn’t look away. Good way to put a crack in your guide and break your line off. Hook it to the foot of the guide instead.
They hit the SP but maybe they’d hit a sluggo or similar twitched slowly under the bunker. Might catch bigger fish.
man this place is nice and private and Stripers!!!
Coming back this year?
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try Frank sound and Barkers on a rising tide.
I live across the river, u should go out on out going tide, more fish, bigger fish. But good content, nice to see you still enjoy it even tho u didnt get alot.
Will you be going to jersey this spring cant wait to get on them do you have any advice for early spring probably early april
Hey bud! Awesome video. I’ve been watching all of your cape videos. I’m headed over mid May hoping to get on my first striper. I’ll be driving from Vermont. Any tips or general areas I should focus on that time of year? I’ll be staying on the canal so for sure gonna hit that. Looking to hit up Falmouth, Poppy and similar areas any insight you may have would be much appreciated.
Dam all this to take a swim at the end of the day I would have left this video in the archives lol
Is that crossway? Nice video man
Is that crossway nice video
Perfect spot for my flat bottom
Nice video
Good job bro. Fish your way 🤙
im new to fishing the bay I would love for you to be my guide i would pay the fee you know your stuff
There’s no such thing as a spot burn any longer. Just look at google maps on satellite mode and or NOAA maps. Those spots are so heavily traveled as evidenced by the vid. Here’s a spot burn, Graveling Point lol
Go back where you came from, I am sure the local fishermen must love you. The Goose Hummock shirt says it all.
Why are you putting the line back on the roller with you left hand?
I was fishing for strippers on the Indian river inlet using a bucktail rig with a twister tail fifty years ago.
Loved this. Well done. Thanks!
Where are new vids???
We’ll be back in the lab soon brother don’t you worry
Bro my man, jersey was insane this year. Where’s all the content??😂 just found this channel love the videos
You’re killing me man!! I was dying to get down there this Fall but never got the chance…this Spring I’ll be back
What month was this in? I see the video posted in january but you're crazy in shorts
Lol yeah this was a warm day in October…honestly wasn’t bad until I was submerged at the end
This was helpful Billy - My buddy and I do a fair amount at the Deerfield and Millers - want to explore the Housi more and take our drift boat on it (often time looking for a 3rd guy for the 3 man flycraft - young guy able to help ) - we are out of the Lowell MA area
Bruh learn alot from this video make me know when your back please 🙏 read the comments
Can’t believe your wife let you fish so much. I’m honeymooning there in August and my wife is not keen to the idea of me bringing a rod
What weight jig head are u using?
Nice barbel
