-Will this supposed shark scene in the Colosseum be exhilarating or cringe deluxe?
-Will it bring in a bigger audience than WICKED, releasing the same weekend?
We’ve got answers…and it’s all packed neatly into this SPOILER-FREE Movie Review Episode.

The extensive backlighting in “Dancing Through Life” didn’t bother me. We don’t need to be trained on Fiyero’s face because the lyric has no new information after the first verse. This is one of those musical theater songs like “Can’t Get a Man With a Gun” or “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” that only have one point to make, then they make it again and again in subsequent verses. Top lyricists like Irving Berlin or Cole Porter can make a song like this entertaining just through their wit and rhymes. “Dancing” doesn’t really rise to that level. It is there to introduce Fiyero and give him his moment as an important character. But mostly it’s there to entertain us with a big production number. Really, the only reason to see Jonathon’s face is for the subtext, not the lyric. Otherwise, the dance number is what the audience should be watching.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for watching!
13:06 chenowith a la Mauzey impression… clearly Ari knew the musical and knew how great Mauzey was at the part as well as chenowith.
Phantom was 80’s… late 80’s… you’re thinking Chorus Line, which was the only “Staple of Broadway” until it became a thing.
Sir, you said your fave number was Popular and described What Is This Feeling 😂
I noticed that on rewatch too! It was a long day 😅 Thanks so much for watching!
Hype to see this in IMAX knowing you did too Cam.
IMAX is definitely the way to go with this one.
Kirk wins the costome contest!
Im watching this today, sharks is a spoiler. 😭😭😭
Disagree. Imax poster they are handing out clearly shows it.
Ahh our bad! We’ll be more spoiler free next time.
King stays king 👑. It’s Denzel’s world, we’re just living in it.
"Dramastically." I like that.
I will say, I enjoy Wicked, but its not my favorite musical. However I have heard numerous positive reviews for this movie and it is making me more excited. Regardless, I still believe it should not be a 2 part, 5 hour experience. I still cannot understand why it needs to be SOOO long when the musical itself is only 2.5 hours long.
If you want 2 parts for box office revenue purposes, why not just two shorter parts? Two 90- or even 120-minute movies would make more sense.
@popcornforbreakfastpodcast 100% agree! 2.5 hours is a HUGE commitment. It can't drag and feel like 2.5 hours.
One of the most difficult movies to score this year imo.
Just got out of the movie. Can watch the review now 😭
I believe it's Florence Pudge @Kirk 😂😂😂
What's the go to snack/food/drink at the Alamo?
The bottomless popcorn is amazing and I like the loaded fries but they are spicy
@popcornforbreakfastpodcast solid picks! I've only been twice and the popcorn is a must. I'm pretty sure I got the pretzel with cheese and loved it!
Me giving MI 2, 4 stars..... it's pretty high on my list. I'll post it on FB!
How do you all think Wicked will perform given its a musical AND Part 1? Which, they actually haven't marketed that it's a 2 part film almost at all.
I think it’ll do well in the box office due to the brand equity of wicked and the PG rating.
I agree, the Marcus plan is SOOOO bad. As an Alist and Regal Unlimited member its great. I prefer AMC overall, but its all realative based off where you live.
I stand by the fact that the parking spot saved the podcast
I really think this movie underpins the whole issue with the Sony marvel spinoffs. It seemed scared to go too far in any direction because it knows they’ll have to make more movies with different villains or maybe even venom in the future.
Just saw this movie and it was a blast. Some dudes think "it drags" by the middle but it was my favorite section of the movie. Love the imagery and the spiritual growth for Kid before coming back to the city and kick all kinds of ass. It's classic mythological hero stuff.
Austin's character wasn't charming & dangerous..He was depressed & weird
Just seen it..Not Good
ALSO wicked is only part 1 of 2 movies. Don't forget that, please.
I think the other thing about Joker 2 is that even people who liked the first one didn’t want a second. I get why studios automatically green light the sequel when the original is a success. But some things don’t need sequels and this, in my opinion, is one of them. Loved the first one, had no interest in the second one.
hollywood loves to do remakes reboots sequels and prequels and stuff like that now and bring stuff back from the 90's all the time to
They dont really want to bring stuff back from the 90s, they want to take titles from the 90s, and then kill everything 90s about it. Just like they buy big IP's and then rewrite everything that made the IP worth anything. I think it is the entitlement era, where everyone thinks they can do better, even though they cant think up something original.
when u go to the movie theater its not always a good time and there issues with other people there and how they act so that ruins it for people alot
the movie theater near me closed for good and that sucks and the 2 closest theaters to me are 25 and 35 minutes away which isn't to bad but isn't worth the gas there and back and the price for the ticket food and drinks and i don't know if it is worth it or not
the Oscars 2025 go WRTV
Personally I think it's a bunch of factors. There's the film experience factor where things like theater prices are obviously a issue. There's the streaming factor where studios trained audiences to rely on streaming, and now they're feeling the double edge sword of it. However there's the movies themselves. For me personally, I find majority of modern Hollywood movies so bland and forgettable. And there can be any number of reasons why that is from the story, to the franchise to the actors attached to it. It's that classic saying: you can please some of the people some of the time, but you'll never please all the people all of the time. It's why I find more enjoyment from Tubi than Hollywood movies for the most part. The CEO woman running Tubi was smart in that she looked at what kind of audiences Tubi was attracting and focused on the audiences they weren't attracting. So the end result being Tubi feeling like this classic 90s video store with a large variety of films. She never had to focus on the typical white dude audiences because they were often attracted by nostalgia TV and movies from yesteryear. Hollywood on the other hand feels like I'm only ever seeing the nostalgia and movies from yesteryear category except a more updated version of it. It's also why audiences are turning to films and markets outside of Hollywood for their content. Most noticeably Asia.
Aliens Alien Alien romulus My top 3!
Re: AVP "This makes no sense" is about as much as I have to say about those movies, too, Cam. 1. Alien 2. Aliens 3. Romulus 4. Prometheus 5. Covenant 6. 3 7. Resurrection (though it's more entertaining than 3) I don't hate any of them, but there are some clunky parts in the lower ones. AVP and AVP:R would be dead last for me, too. It's a shame. Those should have been amazing, but they were garbage.
My partner said "Alien Romulus was as appointing as Furiosa was disappointing." I agree with her assessment. I'd like to see Romulus again; I had a blast seeing it in the theater. I'm glad I saw it there on a huge screen with huge sound. I agree that "Rook" didn't work very well, but I suspended my disbelief that he looked weird because he was damaged. He looked great in the shots where he wasn't talking. 😄 Absolutely agreed that it was "overworked".
I LOVE STITCH! I'm so offended by this podcast right now.😂😂😂 I collect the stitch plushes and pin sets each month! #bozos
AND the Chalamet hate by Kirk this episode. Rough episode for me! 😂😂
@@klwilson22 this is deserved! See, I knew we were in the minority!
I agree that Mufasa is not needed... that being said, my friend is working on this movie as an animator. So I'll be seeing it opening day!
I had a friend attend this year at D23! He had a BLAST!
26:01 to clarify, “fail” artistically. It will not fail commercially because it will of course do a billion dollars.
I'm in the same boat as you Kirk. I get so angry when my theater is packed now. But then so happy that people are there. But....I'm a late night movie goer too!
I actually am part of the camp that doesn't love deadpool 2. Sorry Cam! Hahaha
You are kidding right?
Kidding about what, Scott?
Worst movie I've seen this year "not another church movie" Also I had deleted Argylle from existence.... not anymore. Thanks Cam! 😂😂😂
Haha I’m so sorry I had to bring that back into your conscious memories 🤣
Fellow Alist AND Regal Unlimited member here. Living the bougie life! Hahaha. Here's my top 5 for the year so far (in no particular order) Dune: Part 2, Monkey Man, Civil War, Furiousa, Daddio.
Excellent list! I need to rent Civil War ASAP
I really enjoyed this movie. The only weird critique that is going to sound awful but the accent. I got so tired of hearing the Jodie Comer’s Bostonian accent like 30 minutes in. A weird critique but I would have been ok with less or just not doing the interview type thing to begin with.
Ngl I hadn’t seen the first two before going into this movie. Didn’t think I needed to since it was a prequel/spinoff. My main gripe with the film is that anytime you have a drove of the same monster/alien, that works so well as a single entity as a menacing presence in a film, immediately goes away when there is like 100 of them during the day. The xenomorph in Aliens work cause there is one alien but by the time you hit AVP they are no longer that scary.
Agree completely. The monsters are not nearly as scary in this one.
Also not a cat person and actually loved the Cat in this film! Glad to not see a CGI cat....looking at you Argyle.
Love the Hawaiin shirt vibes! I wear disney button downs with this vibe all the time!
Jodie is a phenomenon
Oscars aren't won on merit they're campaigned for
Enjoyed the review! Even though we surprisingly didn’t land on the same opinion of it, I appreciated your takes. I did enjoy it to some extent, and also thought Comer was outstanding
Hey! Differing opinions! That’s fun. Can’t wait to chat it next time we catch up.
Thank you for the review!
Thank YOU for watching and commenting!
Kirk’s hatred for Timothee Chalamet needs to be studied.
Team ICEE at the movies as well! Im also team sour skittles as a candy.
Ooh sour skittles is a sleeper pick. I like that.
