    Hi! I hope you don’t take this as rude, but even for the smallest of hamsters (Russian white, as you state you’re getting) the minimum floor space is 450 square inches. I know it may seem big or unaffordable to get something so large for a hamster, but please remember it is an entire life you’re responsible for. Some affordable options are bin cages. Assuming you’re in north america, you can use a 110 quart bin from Target or a 50 gallon bin from the home depot, with the lid modified for ventilation. Dwarf hamsters also need at least an 8 inch wheel to prevent irreversible back injuries, as well as 6 inches of bedding for burrowing, and a sand bath. You can get proper bathing sand from petsmart (no dust, bathing dust can cause upper respiratory issues) and you can also use non calcium reptisand or children’s play sand (baked to get rid of germs). You can refer to Victoria Raechels hamster care blogs for more in depth information. Please please upgrade your care, the hammy will thank you tremendously. 🩷 Best of luck with your new hamster.

    • @leisurelylogan
      @leisurelylogan 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a green bean can that you can see the lining, which I did not use. This can has no lining and another leader did this with a pineapple can, which definitely didn't have a lining. I would suggest going the pineapple can route if you are worried. But, I would think that if the lining was there and was susceptible to melting at boiling temperatures, having it upside over the fire for some time would melt out anything on the inside. If I picked the can off of the ground, I would probably do that and also do a couple of boils first, before using the it for boiling more water.

I had a longer video of me trying it both ways, but I cut it because I didn't think people would want to see me fumbling around so much. LOL!
