how much did the complete cockpit cost? did you build it on your own or did the overhead, MIP come as a complete package?
@brgimscht Total cost is just under 20k for the whole sim. Electronics are from ESC but I changed out all the switches to real aircraft grade. I did a video on it. Another 700 in switches on the overhead.

This is good news , I spent hour after hour trying to set this Rhino correctly and could never get the auto pilot in the 160 to work as the hands on kept flickering. Thank you for the very informative video and settings , I used all your settings except at 15:20 I couldn't see the numbers so just estimated where the sliders were set. Cheers.
Hi and Happy New Year! So glad this helped. At 15:20 all the setting are default. The only thing you need to do is set the trim release button and expand the Axis Control section and raise the Hands Off from 2% to 5% and for the Hands On make sure that 10% to 15% depending on move of a movement you want before the heli realizes your are trying to take control and override it. Enjoy and thanks for watching!
@@Rotor-Sims Happy New Year :) The other mistake I made was having the cyclic pitch and roll mapped in game. No need. Thanks again.
@OZ1967 A lot of us have done that. When using any of the VP Force Motors we have to make sure we don't have any axis bound in flight simulator. This is really important for helis with an AFCS. Thanks again!
Where did you get the cyclic grip and how did you wire it into the Rhino?
@@dissymmetryoflift3161 Hi, so the cyclic grip is a metal unit made by Max Flight Stick. It is a replica of the H145. It does not get wired into the Rhino. Max has his own control box. My wire for the cyclic exits the tube right before the base and goes to the control box. Thanks for watching!

Note: My PSU Current that I set is for my Meanwell Power Supply and I use 86 series motors. Please look at the output current on your power supply and do not exceed the rated output in your case. If you bought a full Rhino from Walmis this should already be set up.

Great video!! Thanks for the tip on buying a Rhino FFB instead of the Moza. It's so frustrating asking Moza when are they implementing the H145 and they just say "in later updates 2025 😡😡😡. A couple of questions. I have a virpil collective. It's not motorized like yours. Would I still need to configure it in the telemetry app? And in the rotor blade count you set it up at 4. This helo variant (D3) has 5 main rotor blades. Shouldn't it be set to 5? Thanks for all your hard work that you put for the helicopter sim community. Best regards.
@adsilite Thank you! Moza can never get it to the level VP Force and TelemFFB can because HPG won't work with Moza. TelemFFB is reading values that are very unique to this heli. Your virpil collective remains by itself as you have it now. You will still need to run TelemFFB if you have a VP Force cyclic or any peripherals you decide to implement that are motorized with VP Force Motors/Kits. As for the blade count, thanks for catching that! What software does with that is simply just the rumble effects/frequency. Setting it 5 will make it feel smoother and less vibration in the stick but that can also be adjusted in the rumble setting. Thanks for watching!
Awesome build an video. Thanks for mentioning me mate. If anyone wants such a base. One ia in stock. More can be built to order❤
@@MrEndemo Hope someone grabs it before it gone! Thanks for watching!
Just received my VP Force FFB base too, what an exciting piece of equipment! Will be using it for my helicopter cyclic. Looking forward to learn more about the settings through your excellent videos, thank you for sharing.
@antebellum45 Thanks for watching! The most critical component is getting your balance spring setup properly. I just put out a vid on how to do exactly that. Enjoy that Rhino, it's the best!
Thanks for updates……. What’s the specs on that power supply you are using…….will that supply run just the rhino or also the pedals and collective? Ta
Hi, I use this Meanwell LRS amzn.to/4gwk6x0 For heli there ins't much load. I have two of these. 1 is being used for the cyclic because there are two 86 series motors and the other is driving the collective and once I am done with the torque pedals it will drive that as well with the collective. The LRS 24v is a 14.6amp PSU, 350 watts. 100-120v it will pull 6.8amps from your wall or if you are running 220v it will be 3.4 amps. Thanks for watching!
Hi Joe, really enjoying your updates. Does this lock the movement when the trims are active, and then allow movement when the trim releases are pressed? I am a bit unclear as to how this works.
Hi, thanks for watching! I wouldn’t say the AFCS completely locks the movement but holds the movement. When it detects "hands-on" control, it knows you are overriding it and allows you too. Under normal AFCS operations, the trims and movements will adjust automatically to follow the AFCS inputs. The system physically and virtually positions itself in the sim based on how you’ve configured it. So if you are doing for example a Vy climb out and you have your airspeed, alt and heading dialed in the AFCS will follow what you set it for. When flying manually or even with the AFCS, you have the force trim functionality. By holding the trim release button on the cyclic, you can set the helicopter to a specific attitude. Releasing the button establishes a new center point, allowing the helicopter to hold that position without you constantly applying pressure on the stick to pitch or roll. I’m currently testing the trim functionality and will definitely be making a video on it soon. Stay tuned!
Can't wait to see how the H145 trim behaves with the Rhino!!! Great job!
Thank you! Working on it today!
Nice, I went for a much larger enclosure that sits under the sim and holds a power strip, all my different peripheral power supplies, remote power switching relays and emergency stop logic. Really helps with cable management, cleaning and making everything look that much neater.

@buikhan Hmm, let me check with Speggle
@@Rotor-SimsI am on iPad. How do I buy now? Everything I try it turned into share button not buy.
@buikhan I just spoke to him. He said it has to be done from a desktop and not via a phone. If you want to ask questions and be part of our awesome community come join us: discord.gg/g27WXMCq
Awesome! VP Force is the best. Question: So do you just override TelemFFB so you can keep those parameters? I'm still a little fuzzy on how it works. Because won't the app, like DCS, just override those settings?
@johnwjensen Thanks for watching! So with TelemFFB I strictly fly the HPG 145 and I use the TelemFFB for the force trim and autopilot follow. When I load up TelemFFB it recognizes I'm flying an HPG aircraft but you can override the TelemFFB settings.

I loved the video. I cannot get the mixture to stay rich. Even in auto start it just falls back to lean and kills the engine. Any ideas?
Have you figured out why in 2024 this small helicopter pulls to the right all the time in cruise flight? I have to have full-left on stick to have it go straight, that doesn't make any sense and in MSFS-2020 that was not the case! Only in 2024.
In FS2024, the helicopter dynamics have become a bit more realistic, requiring proper torque management to keep your heli balanced. Start by enabling Tail Rotor Assist to see if it resolves the problem. If it does, that indicates you need to use the anti-torque pedals to counter the torque properly. If the issue persists, try turning on Cyclic Assist. This can help identify whether it’s a trim-related problem. Also, make sure to disable AI Auto-Trim, as it can sometimes cause more problems than it solves. A good practice is to set up a trim reset button and verify that all your trims are at zero before troubleshooting further.
@@Rotor-Sims My bad - I somehow had cyclic trim on the same joystick axis as cyclic controls. So I was basically flying with a fully runaway trim all the time. No wonder it was crap LoL. Now, I've also noticed that this Guimbal Cabri G2 little 2-seater helicopter can takeoff and hover at max weight at sea level (Santa Monica), but at about 6'500 ft (Big Bear, airport) - it cannot sustain hover even with 1x 170 lbs pilot and 90% fuel - starts to lose RPM when hovering, and sinks to the ground once main rotor RPM goes below ~480. Is this realistic? I remember there are R-44s tours around Big Bear lake. Also piston helis, and touring so they take a pilot and at least 2 adult Americans on a tour :-D Maybe they fly low fuel though - their longest offered tour is 45 min.
@@Rotor-Sims Tried the R-66 - flies great even at 10'000ft! At max weight full fuel, 4 pax and 80lbs cargo - can hover as much as I need before landing. In the Cabri - need to maintain forward speed and overspeed rotor before landing and before takeoff, as it cannot sustain hover even at 6'500ft. Which is odd - wiki says the Cabri's service ceiling is 13'000 ft...
@suzukirider9030 The G2 is very twitchy heli. On mine I lower the sensitivity otherwise it's like flying an RC heli lol
@@Rotor-Sims But what about it's power and altitude capability? Are they really not flyable at 6'500 MSL?
I currently own a Schweizer 300c that is currently about to be sold. The cost of ownership for just a flight a couple times a month was not justified. I am also a retired airline captain who has spent many hours in simulators. I am thoroughly impressed with what you have built, just incredible! It mirrors the quality of the CAE airliner sims. Forgive me, I have yet to watch all of your videos that may answer the questions I'm about to ask. The two questions I have as I contemplate building one of your creations are, how many axis does your sim have, and lastly, do you have rough estimate of the total cost, minus your time?
@pilotrt Hi, thank you for the kind comments! I think you'll find the other videos interesting. I setup playlists so people can view the category most interest in.I motorized the collective (see on the latest vid) I designed and will be for sale. Currently working on cyclic and anti torque. FFB is truly needed to experience heli in a sim. For the axis, a quad post is a 3 axis sim. Pitch, roll and heave which for me is plenty. Once the right VR headset comes along that allows me to use panel pop outs and mixed reality a 3 axis barely needs to move to be "tricked" into feeling you are in an aircraft. As for cost for materials right around 17K minus the watercooled PC I built which was 3K. I'm using an 13900K CPU and a 4090 GPU to run the entire sim without issues. I built a Baron G58 cockpit (on the channel) many years so I decided I wanted to do a helicopter and I just love the H145 with a 4 axis AFCS.
I keep failing the license right at landing the helicopter starts a decent then starts bugging making a moise and them just crashes straight down ? Using controller
There is an issue with the transition from Air to Ground effect. I haven't tried the new patch yet so I am not sure if it's been resolved.
Since you’re currently designing this beautiful collective, you should design and bring to market a cyclic base that’s not FFB. If it’s roughly the same size as the offerings from Virpil/VKB etc. it’s accurate and the grip stays in the exact position you leave it, I’d purchase it instantly. The current range of FFB bases are enormous & not practical for the majority of simmers.
Hi, and thanks for watching! The H145's 4-axis AFCS makes a fully motorized setup the ultimate goal. There are creative solutions out there, like mounting a force-feedback (FFB) cyclic base to your chair. In my case, I mounted mine close to the ground with a quick-release system for flexibility in the past before I had a full sim For lighter setups, I’ve been experimenting with a VKB Gladiator base on my laptop. Despite its plastic gimbal, I removed the springs, adjusted the damping, and found it performs surprisingly well. Of course, VKB’s Gunfighter base and Virpil’s T50CM-3 (which I’ve owned) are also excellent choices for non-FFB configurations. Max Flight Stick already offers a base with an integrated damping system, so pursuing a similar custom solution feels like reinventing the wheel. The companies I’ve mentioned produce great products for those not venturing into the FFB market. Thanks again for tuning in, and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
wow. You should partner with those companies and sell that product. It looks amazing!!
Thank you! Max Flight Stick and I are in the process of producing these. I will be testing in a few weeks and make any needed changes but I don't think there will be many to be made. I spent countless hours in the design and analyzing the details, running simulations etc. Thanks for watching!

This is the only thing I can get HAT1 to work on, helicopters. For some reason you can't bind it to anything else in planes. I got as far in the training as cyclic hovering and it was spinning all over the place and I couldn't progress. I think it's bugged half way through the training as each time it starts I go wildly off and can't save it
@@ArcanePath360 Is this happening even with the latest update?
@@Rotor-Sims Yes. I went back to using the gamepad. FAR easier to control and I ended up getting A ratings straight away. This stick is useless.
@ArcanePath360 I can't use a game pad to control a heli. The best stick I found that is most cost effective with a damping system is the VKB Gladiator but it only works on PC
@@Rotor-Sims Interesting. I actually packed this stick away because it was horrible to use, as soon as I did I was getting A in every tutorial with the gamepad. Controlling the camera is also far easier. I can't use one hand to steer and turn the camera at the same time. It messes me up. Just controlling the cyclic alone is hard enough with an over sensitive stick
@ArcanePath360 I know with vkb you can get a throttle quadrant and it has a hat switch on it so keep your left hand on view hat which you right hand on the joystick for cyclic. VR is also an option
Thanx a lot for a very helpful video. 🙏
@@Haneye1 So happy it could be of help! Thanks for watching!
Are you planning to put motors in to drive the cyclic as well?
@TheBishopOfBarton Sure am! My kit should be arriving next week. I am currently working on the anti torque pedals too.
@@Rotor-Sims Can't wait to see how that turns out! That's the key to a great sim - proper trim motors for the controls.
@TheBishopOfBarton Couldn't agree more!
I think this is key to making the sim realistic. In the aircraft, the autopilot flies the aircraft by physically moving the controls via trim motors, so you actually see the controls move when it's fully coupled up. There's what is essentially a potentioneter in each channel which feeds back positional information to complete the loop. Which signals are you using from the sim to drive the collective motor? And is it sophisticated enough to allow you to feed back the position of the collective? I don't know enough about the inner workings of MSFS. Amazing sim by the way!
@Rotor-Sims nice video sir thank you for this video i just buy the Turtle Beach Velocity One yesterday as a birthday present for myself haha 🤣 i turn 44 i will ask you sir can you please make a video like this for a setup for the H125 sir for the Turtle Beach Velocity One in FS2024 ones again Sir thank you for all you do for all of us
@trffinal1541 I'm glad it helped and thank you for watching! I ended up returning it and got the VKB Gladiator. Much better suited for heli. So for the H125 it doesn't have a true throttle axis in the sim. It functions currently as basically on and off. You can bind those to buttons under the specific category. Lessen the roll and pitch sensitivity. Just a bit and it should be very flyable
@@Rotor-Sims Thank you so much Sir i will try i hope i can find out of that
Looks like a neat collection of swag for a dedicated simmer
@martin-hall-northern-soul Hi and thanks for watching! It really isn't a bad bit of kit. We have come so far in flight sim and I'm very thankful we are where we are.
@@Rotor-Sims Kinda wish I'd gone for it now but didn't see them until a while after they were made available. Heyho, still enjoying the new sim. Good days to be a flight simmer I reckon too,.
@martin-hall-northern-soul People are selling them on eBay for 500+
