Yes, it was quite fun to watch and see this interaction. Watching wildlife is always full of surprises.

Right now they are spending time at the river between the first waterfall and the bridge. Early morning or dusk are the best times to see them.

Thank you-apparently this is not a commonly seen behaviour, so I was lucky to capture it.

They were in the ponds along the salmon channel. I have found that the best time to see otters there is in the fall, especially if there is fish in the ponds.

@@djphlangeYes, I have seen that family at the waterfront too-they seem to be regulars there. I have posted two videos of otters at the waterfront and it is this family in both videos. I'll check out your video.

I have been checking the last few days and haven't seen the bittern again-I was very lucky this day that it was so active. Lately, this bird is not being very cooperative.

Thanks Keith. I am finding that the video works well at Bowen since the owls are often not active until dusk and then the light is poor. The video seems handle the low light better than regular images and you can capture more action.

It is a regular Steller's jay and they are common around here in the winter.
